Before there was a threat of relegation as a member of the [[Original Sixteen]], /mu/ would find itself in the loser's bracket of the [[2011 4chan Summer Cup|first]] [[2012 4chan Winter Cup|two]] 4chan Cups. There's an old adage that there's no such thing as an atheist in the foxhole, demonstrated by a then-unmanaged /mu/ accepting Jesus Christ to survive relegation into the [[2012 4chan Spring Babby Cup|first Babby Cup]] only through number of goals scored. /mu/ would continue to make it into the knockouts for the next three major cups but never claim a trophy, Including an especially stinging loss in [[2013 4chan Summer Cup|Summer 2013]] in the [[2013 4chan Summer Cup Final|championship game]]. All the while, familiar fellow elites like [[/fit/]] and [[/int/]] would begin to fall around them. [[2014 4chan Summer Cup|Summer 2014]] has probably been the most unorthodox cup yet. While giants like [[/sp/]] and [[/a/]] fell into relegation, /mu/ embraced the strangeness to create a winning team. Their arsenal included an unusual, open formation, Talentless Hack the Golden Boot silver player, and a soundtrack by a band you probably haven't heard of; they're pretty new. Most important is their legendary goalkeeping which carried them all the way to the final, and would deny several deadly and precise shots from [[/hr/]] long enough for /mu/ to [[2014 4chan Summer Cup Final|finally claim a star of their own]]. So congratulations to /mu/! The Cup trophy is yours, but the struggle to remain Elite resumes [[2015 4chan Winter Cup|next Winter]]. Fight on, soldier.

2022 finally started showing some yoyo potential again, and /sci/ even managed to stay elite in the 2023 winter cup and make it as far as a quarterfinal. While frustrating to be relegated in summer, it would lead to /sci/ finally getting a moment of cathartic triumph: The 2023 Autumn Babby Cup would feature a rather miraculous group stage promotion, a 9-3-3-3 being the team that got the least beat up by group terror /a/. This belied a knockout run where it seemed like nothing could go wrong, with only /vt/ ever holding a lead on them again for all of 11 minutes.
 
When /sci/ is clicking it looks incredibly calculated, and they had no hangover going all the way to 4th in the most recent 2024 4chan Winter Cup. With a run of older PES versions coming in, /sci/ will need to dig into the remarkably well archived game plans and aesthetics on their wiki page and try to define a function that doesn't involve another years long dry streak in the pursuit of victories, but their intellect seems up to the task as of now.
