Welcome to the official wiki page for team /o/. A team dedicated to bringing the elegance, speed and sheer >fun of cars and motorcycles to the football world.
Rev up your engines, we are running in the 90's here!
History
/o/ first entered the 4chan Cup in winter 2012, after requesting entry in what became the Second Founding. /o/'s original team was created over a 24 hour period in an attempt by founder Over9kPreludeGuy to poll all of /o/ for player names. Formations were suggested by the now-infamous equ!nox, and several logos were considered before a WAT derivative was selected. It was a rocky start for the newcomers who only won 1 game after penalties. /o/ finished 11th out of 16 participants.
The 2012 4chan Summer Cup was probably the first "serious" cup with a lot of teams putting a real effort into winning. A group with /sp/, /d/ and /b/ proved to be too difficult for /o/. The team only managed 1 draw against /b/ and finished 3rd with 1 point. Subsequently, the team relegated to the 2012 Autumn Babby Cup. /o/ survived the Babby Cup in a group with /hr/, /tv/ and /s/ and qualified for the 2013 4chan Winter Cup. In Winter, despite a 4-1 win over /k/, /o/ came in 3rd in the group and was once again relegated to the Babbies.
The team bounced back once more by becoming first in their group during the 2013 4chan Spring Babby Cup. Highlight of the group stage was undoubtedly the 1-0 victory over /mlp/. /o/ made it to the quarter finals where it lost to /trv/, but qualified for the 2013 4chan Summer Cup nevertheless.
Shortly after the Spring Babby Cup, it became apparent that a certain Irish butthole managed almost half of all the teams participating in the tournament. Among those teams was /o/. /o/'s wins were scratched from the record books and the team was relegated to the 2013 Autumn Babby Qualifiers, also known as the Fetus Cup. /o/ failed to make it out of the Fetus Cup but with the installment of the 2014 Spring Mega Babby Cup, all former Fetus teams were allowed to enter the tournament. Team /o/ competed with /s4s/, /hr/, /tv/ and /vr/ in group B. 2 wins and 2 losses resulted in /o/ finishing 3rd and therefore not qualifying for the knockout stage of the tournament. The next main event /o/ competed in was the 2014 4chan Autumn Babby Cup.
In this cup, /o/ faced /soc/, /lgbt/, /sci/ and /m/. A win against /soc/ and a draw against /sci/ were not enough to make first or second place. In the 2015 4chan Spring Babby Cup, /o/ faced /po/, /y/, /cm/ and /adv/ in the group stages and advanced top of their group with 10 points. After a 6-0 win against /soc/, /o/ lost to /d/ in the quarter finals but nevertheless qualified for their first Elite Cup in two and a half years. The Summer Cup had /o/ face /lit/, /b/ and /i/. /o/ topped their group with 5 points making it the first time /o/ qualified for the knockout stage of an elite cup. In the round of 16 they faced /f/, which /o/ lost 1-0. The next tournament /o/ competed in was the 2016 4chan Winter Cup. In the group stage, /o/ faced /mlp/, /an/ and /vp/. A draw against /mlp/ and 2 losses only resulted in 1 point and a relegation to the 2016 4chan Spring Babby Cup.
A faulty export got /o/ relegated to the 2016 4chan Spring Babby Cup Qualifiers in which they got the best result out of all teams participating and got promoted to the 2016 4chan Spring Babby Cup. They won their matches against /cm/ and /his/ and qualified for the 2016 4chan Summer Cup before playing their last group stage match. /v/ proved too strong in the round of 16 but /o/ came back with a vengeance in the Summer Cup. A 6-3 win over /mlp/ started an unlikely rise for the ever-struggling /o/ which brought them all the way to the final. In that final /o/ had to face /mlp/ yet again but lost 5-2 marking a nevertheless historic second place for the team.
/o/ found themselves in the 2017 4chan Winter Cup, playing alongside /soc/, /vr/ and /sp/. Things looked great as Twingo, with his brilliant new aesthetics, scored the only goal of the match against /vr/. However, /o/'s win was undone against /soc/, who somehow managed to record a 2-1 victory over the /o/tists. Along with /vr/'s 4-2 win over /sp/, everybody in the group was locked at 3 points a piece. Needing a win or a high-scoring draw against the /sp/artans, nothing worked out for them in the end. They would go on to lose 2-0, knocking them out of the cup.
And then things got worse. Banned manager and notorious pedophile Maydave lost his cool after the loss and revealed that /o/'s long run in the 2016 Spring and Summer cups was 99% his doing, that FabiaFag was his flatmate, and that he made the Summer export and gave Fabia instructions on what to do. Calls for /mlp/'s second star to be rescinded and for /o/'s matches under MayDave's shadow-management to be voided were discussed (although half of it was making up hundreds of MayDave memes). Lear eventually decided that /mlp/'s star would remain, that /o/'s matches would not be voided, and that Maydave was permabanned from the cup. FabiaFag also stood down as /o/ manager, and the team's future was in doubt.
But soon enough, new managers by the name of Shakes and Layrinn showed up to revive hopes of /o/'s year. Despite lacking any experience behind the wheel, /o/ came to the 2017 4chan Spring Babby Cup with high expectations and even more top-notch aesthetics. /o/'s first match was against /trv/, a team they had only faced before in the Dragonfag days. Despite /trv/ holding two leads, /o/ held on as Twingo again led /o/ to a victory. A 1-1 draw against the hated /soc/ followed, with Takumi scoring first only for /o/ to be denied early advancement by Vocaroo four minutes later. Only needing a draw to get to Summer, /o/ started dominant against /lit/, including scoring the first goal. Despite giving up an 88th minute goal to the Greeks, /o/ remained in pole position until the dying moments of the match, when Dick Fucking Wanker sent /o/ down with a winner. Although /o/ could still manage second place through a 1-0 /trv/ win, their hopes were over within 23 minutes. Rate My Cock scored at the 77th minute, however, forcing DOUBLE PLAYOFFS to determine the top and bottom of the group. /o/'s side of the playoffs again started strong thanks to Takumi; despite Vocaroo taking the match to extra time and Scotty Kilmer being sent off just before, /o/ dominated the entire 30 minutes of extra time and walked away with a 2-1 victory. This would prove important; due to many other teams that would have been in Summer being forced down to Autumn or the graveyard, /o/ ended up stumbling into the 2017 4chan Summer Cup.

2013 Autumn Friendlies Highlights

Rivalries
/n/ - The Wheels Derby |
More of a friendly rivalry but a rivalry nevertheless. While /n/ drools over trains and other forms of mass transportation, /o/ knows that your own private car or motorcycle is the way to go. And bikes? Pfft, that's for hippies. |
1-0-2 (Unofficially: 2-0-3) |
/tv/ - The Driveb Owl |
/o/ and /tv/ are not really rivals when it comes to 4chan itself. When the whistle blows on the football pitch, though, these teams have more than just 3 points to play for. The movie Drive has a special place on /o/; Kavinsky's Nightcall was /o/'s anthem for a reason. Meanwhile /tv/ has used A Real Hero by College & Electric Youth both as anthem and goalhorn. A song that also came from Drive. Clashes between these 2 teams are therefore known as the Driveb Owl. Which of these teams can claim Drive as their own? |
4-0-0 (Unofficially: 4-0-1) |
