With the humiliating own goal and keeper babying by /int/, /a/ was desperate to show that they were still an elite team and deserved to have had advanced. This led to a restructuring of the team, a demotion of Megumin to a regular player, and a change of formation, all of which would inadvertently lead them to their doom. /a/ wasn't the only one to undergo change, the 2018 4chan Spring Babby Cup was changed to a megababby, the first one in two and a half years. /a/ was drawn into group B with /c/, /t/, /s4s/, and our old friend /jp/. The first match vs. /c/ started great for /a/, with two goals in 12 minutes, one by Truck-kun, the new medal and celebrated hero who saved /a/ from deadly counters time and time again in the 2017 4chan Autumn Babby Cup. Due to a strange decision to have man marking on some of /c/'s players, space was created and Do It For Her was able to score a goal for /c/ soon after but /a/ managed to get another one in the net on the next attack. Things looked great right before half time but then the /c/ management made some changes to their tactics and shut down the /a/ attack, as well as managing to score another goal before the half was over and getting two more the next half. Because there were no decent changes by the /a/ management and the fact they used man marking, many mocked /a/ for "throwing away their win". The subsequent match vs /s4s/, now a member of the no bracket club, looked shaky at the start but was easily won 2-1 by /a/. The fateful match of /jp/ vs. /a/ was next, and once again, /a/ was blamed for throwing away their lead after failing to counter the /jp/ management's changes. Things were dire for /a/, they had to win against /t/ by three goals, and though they were an autopilot, they had shown they were quite the force to be reckoned with. In a humiliating display, despite testing for the match the entire week, /a/ lost 4-2 to a fucking autopilot, affirming that this new /a/ management needed some serious fixing. The head manager issued a public apology for their performance and claimed responsibility for how shit they had become this cup. He affirmed the fans that the new /a/ management would not give up yet and will spend the 6 months they have till the 2018 4chan Autumn Babby Cup training, bettering themselves, and figuring out what went wrong. Whether or not this training will amount to anything yet to be seen but at the moment, prospects seem grim for /a/. The doom prophecy came true as /a/ failed to even qualify for 2018 Autumn, leaving another six months of pain and waiting for the next Babby. This was a new bottom for /a/'s history.

We're always looking for people to help us out, don't be afraid to ask if there is anything you can do! See the Contact page if you need to get in touch with the manager or one of the co-managers. Emailing us or messaging us on Skype or IRC would be the best way to do this. If you want to contact us another way, you can try yelling at us on the /vg/ thread. Only one or two of us goes on there though so expect limited activity.

We won't always have a thread up on /a/ so if you want to be kept in the loop, feel free to join the team discord server (yes, I know, discord is cancer). We try to avoid using discord much as it tends to cause circlejerks to develop so there might not be much activity. Just post a complaint or question and we'll get to it eventually.

If you would like us to make a thread so we can talk with the board during the off-season or so you can tell us that we're fucking shit, just ask in an email/skype/discord and we'll make one.

Rivalries

/sp/ - The /a/sp/ie Derby

By far the biggest rivalry of the 4chan Cup, /a/ and /sp/ have never gotten along. Any cup match featuring these two is marked as "El Classico", and /a/ has been victorious over /sp/ 3 games to none. /a/ did lose a friendly to /sp/, but no one gives a shit about that. Shots are fired among these boards every now and then, as there exists degenerate people who frequent both boards. As a result, the undesirable cancer from each board seeps into the other. Those who remain exclusive to one or the other see the cross posting only to naturally react negatively. This cup only amplifies the rivalry, and it is not necessarily limited to head-to-head competition. The rivalry was most notable in the The Together Forever Curse, where by coincidence both teams seemed to advance or relegate at the same time since the cup's beginnings. However, the curse had long been broken, when /sp/ manages to advance from the 2016 4chan Autumn Babby Cup leaving /a/ behind seething. Nevertheless, the rivalry lived on. Any time /sp/ fails, it is expected for cup threads in /sp/ to be flooded by smug anime faces. Conversely, fans of /a/ are poised to vomit in disgust anytime /sp/ performs well.

/v/ - The "Tsundere Bowl" (a.k.a. "Tsun-derby")	Plenty of /a/nons play vidya, and plenty of /v/irgins watch animu, but every time they get together the two sides want to beat each other into a pulp before admitting to any crossover between their boards.

/b/ - The Old Firm (a.k.a. "Cancer Derby I")	These are two of the oldest boards on 4chan, and with /b/ becoming more cancerous over time after no longer being Anime/Random, /a/ has a bigger hatred for /b/ than most boards.

/jp/ - The True Weeabowl (a.k.a. "2hu Derby")	Several years ago, every /a/ thread was ripe for a hijack about Touhou, so after enough bitching moot decided to exile all the Touhou fans to /jp/. Which side holds the True Weeaboo spirit? The winner of this match gets a dakimakura with character of their choice, courtesy of the losing team, accompanied by a sudden rush of self-loathing.

Most /a/nons would prefer to never leave to comfort of their home, surrounded by their anime figures and questionable art of pre-pubescent girls. The very concept of /out/ terrifies them and this seems to even affect the seasoned divegrass players of /a/. Every match that /a/ has played against /out/ they have lost and most /a/ managers have given up on trying to beat them because they already know how this will end. Will /a/ ever be able to beat the psychopaths of /out/ and show the superiority of living inside? Probably not, but hey, doesn't hurt to dream.

Apparently listed as a rival by /u/, the two cousin boards are fair weather rivals, as a portion of /a/ is actually not all that comfortable with anime lesbians. The only cup match up between the two was back in the 2014 Summer Cup, where the loss contributed to /a/'s relegation for the first time. So, there's that. With /u/'s success in recent years, that only leaves /a/ dreaming of similar successes.
