Team Performance History
/vg/ League 2
/vg/ League 2 group draw was held on May 31 2014 following the second day of Summer Friendly action. /civ4xg/ were drawn into Group F, placing them with /acg/, lolg/, and /domg/.
Headed by inaugural manager Krazy, /civ4xg/'s first game was a 1-0 thriller of a loss to /acg/. Despite the loss, /civ4xg/ would return to the pitch with a strong showing against /domg/, winning 2-1, with the clean sheet being trolled away by a cheeky 90+5' Bogus the Troll marker. The final group match against /lolg/ would prove to be pivotal, as /civ4xg/ essentially needed to win to advance to the knockout round. While /lolg/ took an early lead, Gandhi nuked home a 65' equalizer. /civ4xg/ would fall behind soon again to two goals by a fucking Giraffe, Krazy would proceed to lose his shit, overreact, and go full yolo mode, and /civ4xg/ would go on to lose 5-1 and fail to make it out of the group stage.
/vg/ League 3
The /vg/ League 3 group draw was held on November 29 2014 after the Thanksgivingb Owl invitational. /civ4xg/ were drawn into Group D alongside /dfg/, /vitagen/, and bitter enemies /lolg/.
Somehow, /civ4xg/ lost to /vitagen/ in their first game, giving up /vitagen/'s first ever goal at the seventh minute; despite Adam Smith equalizing at 29', a second /vitagen/ goal would prove /civ4xg/'s downfall. The team rebounded in their next match, as silver Civ 5 Mod gave /civ4xg/ a victory over their old foes /lolg/, 1-0. Despite falling down early to /dfg/, Barbarian XCOM Squad gave /civ4xg/ a draw with an 86' equalizer; this was all /civ4xg/ needed to advance as a third place team. The knockouts placed /civ4xg/ against /wtg/, the top team of the group stages; sadly, the actual game ended in a 2-1 loss to the eventual finalists for /civ4xg/, kicking them out of the tournament.
/vg/ League 4
For the /vg/ League 4, /civ4xg/ was drawn into Group E with /ssbg/, /kspg/, and /hsg/.
After a dull first half vs /kspg/, Sid Meier slipped in 2 goals to defeat the kerbals 2-0. Things were about to take a downturn as despite Dosh Lords taking the lead in the 3rd minute, /civ4xg/ would succumb to a monstrous 6-1 loss to /ssbg/. All was not lost however as a draw in the final match would have seen /civ4xg/ through to the round of 16. A lone Kel'Thuzad goal denied this however, thus /civ4xg/ slumped to the bottom of the group with a 1-0 loss, and into dormancy.
/vg/ League 8
After a long period of being ded, /civ4xg/ came back with a refreshed identity in /vg/ League 8, having taken /rtsg/ and /cbg/ in under their wings in the period of death, and receiving tactical coding from a /cbg/ anon. Due to missing /vg/ League 7 (and 6, and 5), /civ4xg/ were placed into the qualifiers and were drawn into Group B with /pg/, /agdg/ and /egg/.
Their first game vs /agdg/ got off on the wrong foot with a 4th minute goal from Asset Posting, before HAK HAK HAK rescued a point for /civ4xg/. This was then followed by a biblical 8-1 thrashing of /pg/ (the /vg/ League's second largest blowout ever at the time). Featuring hat tricks from Somehow I'M The Bad Guy and Corvette Spam, this is the largest win for /civ4xg/ by a significant margin. Following late game shenanigans from /pg/ vs /agdg/ and a 1-0 loss to /egg/, /civ4xg/ were through to the /vg/ League 8 proper behind /pg/ despite them sitting on a comical -5 goal difference.
In the main league, /civ4xg/ were drawn into Group E with /vg/ League 6 & 7 finalists /xcg/, eventual finalists /lzg/, and perennial fan favourites /aog/. The first game vs /lzg/ did not go well, as /civ4xg/ were drawing 1-1 at the 72nd minute before NAGA RAIDAAAAA and Salty Umbrella put away two goals and Somehow I'M The Bad Guy gave a second consolation goal to lose 3-2. Against /aog/, HAK HAK HAK and Somehow I'M The Bad Guy were able to haul back a 1-0 deficit to come back and win the game 2-1. This eliminated /aog/ and thus set a single objective vs /xcg/, don't lose and you're through. Unfortunately despite a 42nd minute equaliser from Somehow I'M The Bad Guy, /civ4xg/ fell to a 2-1 loss and failed to qualify to the round of 16.
/vg/ League 9
Having seen encouraging signs in /vg/ League 8, /civ4xg/ captured and enslaved employed the /cbg/ anon as their manager. For /vg/ League 9, /civ4xg/ were in the main cup from the off and were drawn into Group G with /ksg/, /mggg/, and /wtg/. The first game got off to a strong start as Please do not Bully The Riftborn crippled the only non cripple on /ksg/ before opening the game's scoresheet. Civ could not protect the lead as Crapawa Shitjo grabbed an equaliser and drew the game 1-1. The second game vs /wtg/ went poorly as a lone Naziboo goal gave /wtg/ a 1-0 victory which confirmed them through to the knockouts and left /civ4xg/ in a precarious position of having to win vs /mggg/ and hope /ksg/ lost by a combined total of 3 goals. Despite going 2-0 up against /mggg/ courtesy of Horatio Sauce and Nuclear Gandhi, a 90+ /mggg/ goal all but dashed the hopes of /civ4xg/ and a 1-0 /ksg/ win confirmed their advancement into the knockouts at the expense of /civ4xg/.
/vg/ League X
With /vg/ League X accepting 48 teams in the main cup as opposed to 32 in previous /vg/ Leagues, /civ4xg/ were drawn into Group A with /aog/ who came first in /vg/ League 9, /mggg/ who came last in /vg/ League 9, and /rlg/ who return having last competed in /vg/ League 7. After 2 less than stellar performances resulting in a 1-1 draw with /rlg/ and a 0-0 draw with /aog/, /civ4xg/ had to win against /mggg/ to promote to the survival round. They rose to the occasion with Somehow I'M The Bad Guy and Horatio Sauce scoring a hat trick and a brace respectively to destroy the monster girls 5-2 and emphatically promote. All of which came to nothing as /civ4xg/ got shellacked 4-0 by /fgg/ on their way to 2nd place.
/vg/ League 11
After coming so close yet so far from the knockouts, /civ4xg/ were fired up and ready to try again as one of 48 teams in /vg/ League 11. Electing to stick with the tactics that gave them strong preseason friendly form against /domg/ and /twg/, /civ4xg/ got drawn into Group D with /gbfg/, /domg/, and /ddlc/. The first game against /ddlc/ went well as a brace from Somehow I'M The Bad Guy was enough to secure a 2-1 victory despite a goal from Buffsuki at the 69th minute invigorating /ddlc/ and giving them hope. Against /gbfg/, things went better as OH SHAKA scored for the first time since /vg/ League 2 and marked the occasion by scoring twice, as well as Somehow I'M The Bad Guy putting a third goal past /gbfg/ to win 3-1. Against /domg/, /civ4xg/ took a turn for the memes, as Destructive Anal was sent off in 2 minutes and 21 seconds (the fastest sending off in an official /vg/ League game at the time). Despite conceding to Heroic Obesity in the 13th minute, /domg/'s goalkeeper scored an own goal to keep /civ4xg/ in the game at the 53rd minute. Heroic Obesity would be there to tack on another goal in the 67th minute before Somehow I'M The Bad Guy won and scored a penalty in the 74th minute to end the match 2-2, confirm /civ4xg/ at the top of the group overall and through to the round of 16 for the first time since /vg/ League 3. In the round of 16, /civ4xg/ was drawn against /vn/ who were in the round of 16 for the first time in their history. But it was not meant to be for /vn/ as Nuclear Gandhi scored a brace before Somehow I'M The Bad Guy scored yet again to win the game 3-2. Through to the last 8 for the first time in the team's history, /civ4xg/ were not planning on giving the experience up so easily. /civ4xg/ would play /vitagen/ in the quarterfinals, in a cagey and tense game where Somehow I'M The Bad Guy would score the only goal off a /vitagen/ defender's weak clearance to send /civ4xg/ through to the semi final vs /fgog/. In the semi final, /fgog/ would take the lead twice through Smug Redman and Regend capitalising on weak clearances by /civ4xg/, but twice /civ4xg/ would bring the game back on even terms through Somehow I'M The Bad Guy and Horatio Sauce leaving the game at 2-2 in only 36 minutes. The score stayed that way until STELLAAAAA broke the deadlock for /fgog/ in the 82nd minute, and in an effort to once again bring /civ4xg/ level, they opened up their defence and /fgog/ punished /civ4xg/, scoring twice more to rub salt into the wound. Finally beaten, /civ4xg/ went to the 3rd place playoff vs /gfg/ and looked to vent their frustrations after the /fgog/ game. Something they emphatically achieved as OH SHAKA scored a Hat Trick, and Somehow I'M The Bad Guy, Sid Meier, and Dosh Lords (both of whom have not scored a goal since /vg/ League 4) would also all score to win the game 6-2. Thus ended the run of /civ4xg/ in /vg/ League 11, finishing 3rd out of 48 teams, with Somehow I'M The Bad Guy managing to score in all 7 of /civ4xg/'s games and winning the golden boot in the process.
/vg/ League 12
Coming off the back of their best finish on record, /civ4xg/ went into Group C of /vg/ League 12 with /ddlc/, /fgoalter/ and /drag/. The rematch against /ddlc/ was a little shaky as Just Monika and Natsu Natsu Kii took the lead twice but WOLOLO and Somehow I'M The Bad Guy managed to bring it level to end the game 2-2. The match vs /fgoalter/ proved to be a sleepy affair with /civ4xg/ electing for a defensive gameplan that was punctuated with an early WOLOLO corner header, bringing an end to the scoring streak of Somehow I'M The Bad Guy who scored for 8 games in a row. In the final group game vs /drag/, /civ4xg/ were guaranteed through and had to not lose to top the group and head straight into the knockouts. Horatio Sauce would dive in the penalty box at the 5th minute to win an early penalty for Somehow I'M The Bad Guy to take the lead with, but /drag/ quickly recovered the lead with Sleepy Amane and Enuji scoring in quick succession. The game would stay that way until Spaghetti Junctions and WOLOLO both brought the game level for /civ4xg/ but Enuji would complete her hattrick to win the game 4-3 for /drag/ and send /civ4xg/ to the Survival Round. In the survival round, /civ4xg/ were required to win twice against /hsg/ and /ffg/ to progress into the knockouts. Up against /hsg/, /civ4xg/ would play slow until /hsg/ started playing aggressively in the second half and opened the scoring with WIIIIIIINDS. Nuclear Gandhi then scored a rebound goal in /civ4xg/'s last ditch all out attack in stoppage time to take the game into extra time. In extra time, /hsg/ could not maintain their aggressive gameplan, as Fuck Wiz would take the lead off of a direct 30 yard free kick, and Horatio Sauce put the final nail in the coffin on a late counter attack to win the game 3-1 and send /civ4xg/ through to play /ffg/. Against /ffg/ who were down a medal player, replacement player Sunday Funday would score first to give /ffg/ the lead. Undeterred, Nuclear Gandhi and Fuck Wiz would once again retake the lead for /civ4xg/ before Sunday Funday scored again to bring the game level. Fuck Wiz would then force /pullwithme/ to immediately score an own goal in the attack from kickoff to regain the lead before Doctor Jewgle equalised late in the game. /civ4xg/ couldn't take the lead again in extra time and thus the game went to penalties where /civ4xg/ blinked first as Nuclear Gandhi missed the 5th penalty and were thus knocked out of the /vg/ League finishing in 17th place.
