The New York Islanders were part of the 1972 NHL expansion, which made way for 14 teams in the NHL. However, the Islanders only came into fruition because of some jealousy from the >rags. Thanks to a new arena in Nassau county, the islanders were born, and became a very successful team in their young existence, winning the division multiple times, and even winning the Stan Lee cup four times in a row. There also were some of hockeys best on those teams, like Dennis Potvin, Bobby Nystrom, Clark Gilles, Billy Smith, and Mike Bossy. However, the 80's is the last this team saw relevance besides a miracle run in 1993 to the Eastern Conference Finals, which had them overcome a 3-1 series deficit to the reigning Back-To-Back Stanley Cup Champions Penguins. They got trounced by Montreal, and didn't win a playoff series for another 23 years until John Tavares scored a 2OT goal against the Panthers to make it past the first round. Now they have a divegrass team that wishes to have some success and no obstructed seats or a car next to them.

One team is a shitty Original 6 franchise, the other is a successful expansion team with four championships in a row. Despite the >rags winning a cup in 1994, that shit doesnt count since they bought that cup and needed seven games to beat the fucking canucks. Also, YOU CANT BEAT US AT BARCLAYS |
