The /sp/artans Football Club is a simulated professional football team founded in August 2011, representing /sp/, the 4chan board dedicated to sports. They won the 2012 4chan Summer Cup before the title was revoked due to the Dragongate scandal. They also won the 2013 4chan Winter Cup, making them, for a time, the first and only two-time Elite competition champions. They also held the number 1 spot in the cup rankings from January 2012 to May 2013, currently the longest such reign, and from March to May, 2017.
The club's popularity among the proud posters of /sp/ has made them susceptible to negative press. Accusations of rigging lead to the Match Fixing Scandal in early January 2012. The team was implicated in the Dragongate scandal as well. Their almost-systematic shitposting on other boards during /sp/ Cup participation is often cited as one of the possible reasons for the global cup ban by 4chan moderation.
/sp/'s main rivals are, without a doubt, /a/, who knocked them out of the cup twice on top of being dirty weeaboos, but they also have minor rivalries with /k/, /toy/, /tg/, /v/, /fit/, and potentially any board who knocks them out of the cup (/gd/ and /i/ we're looking at you) or have a fanbase as rambunctious as theirs.

2020
2020 Spring was the introduction to PES 19, which showed a lot of promise to be miles above the boring slurp-fest of PES 18. With JohnnyBravo becoming active again and CollieBro returning to manage /sp/, new life was pumped into the team. Prior to the cup, long time captain TSUUUUUUUUU was demoted to silver due to his poor performance in the previous Babby Cups, with Punished Messi taking his place as captain. In addition, Kobr was added to the team as a gold player in memorial to the real life passing of Kobe Bryant, a move that would prove invaluable to the team. /sp/ narrowly missed competing in the first Babby Cup Qualifiers of the team's history, and were drawn into Group B with /fit/, /v/ and /tv/, in what would prove to be one of the best groups this cup got to see. In the first game against /fit/, /sp/ sought to defeat the only autopilot in the group. Punished Messi opened up the scoring at 28' and scoring a brace at 33' to put the team up 2-0 at half time. Kobr would add to the lead, scoring at 49’ to put /sp/ up 3-0, before George Costanza would put in a header at 89' to close the game out 4-0. A statement win, and the first win since the 2018 Summer Semi-final. The second game against /tv/ would prove to be a bigger challenge. /tv/ would draw first blood with Sheev heading in the first goal of the game. Kobr would answer with a tying goal at 34', but For You would end up with a quickoff abuse goal to put /tv/ up 2-1 at the half. TSUUUUUUUUU would answer early in the second half with a 2-2 tying goal. /tv/ responded with a passing play to For You, who finished it to take the lead 3-2 for /tv/. Sheev would score again at 85', with Really Raimi? adding another to extend the lead to 5-2. Kobr would be able to score a 90+ goal that ended up being crucial to the final result of the group stage, but for now /tv/ would take a deserved win. The third game was the e-Sports Derby against /v/. Going into the match, /sp/'s prospects looked similar to what they faced the previous 2 babby cups. A win and in scenario, in which they had failed each time previous. Sanic would open up the scoring at 11', but /sp/ answered back when George Costanza scored at both 22' and 32' for /sp/ to take the lead 2-1. From here on out the game was a war of attrition. The second half ended without another goal, where /sp/ secured the victory and guaranteeing promotion to the first elite cup since 2019 Winter. First up though, was the knockouts.
The Round of 16 saw /sp/ draw /adv/ as their opponent. Suicide scored at 10' to put /adv/ up early, but TSUUUUUUUU would respond with a tying goal at 14'. Messi was able to receive a pass in the box to put in a shot, taking the lead for /sp/ at 29', adding a brace at 33'. Costanza headed in a late corner kick to secure the team's spot in the final day. But not before 18-1 under the guise of Timothy Bradley decided to kick the ball through his own crease to a wide open Femanon to score a free consolation goal. But /sp/ had the 4-2 win and would move on to the Quarter Final. They faced /s4s/, holding at 0-0 for the majority of the game, until 71' when Costanza was able to score, and soon after Gimi would score a rare goal to secure the win. /sp/ would move on to their first babby cup semi-final game. It saw /sp/ face off against /d/, where Messi and H*nd H*lding would score quick goals at 9' and 14' respectively to kick off the action. Messi knocked in a brace goal at 36' to put /sp/ up 2-1 all the way until H*nd H*lding scored her own brace to tie the game at 69' (nice). No Cock Like Horsecock would score at 81' before an answer from Costanza at 86' tied the game back up. 2 period of extra time were played, but with the score remaining 3-3 it was off to penalties. Kobr and Messi shanked their first two shots by putting them into the keeper. This put /sp/ behind insurmountably. /d/ would win the penalties after Haaland sabotaged a come back, and /d/ would go on to win the final match and the babby cup. Although /sp/ lost, the third place game still had something to play for. Facing /wg/, Messi helped /sp/ take the lead early after scoring at 12', but not long after /wg/ would answer by finding Cunt Destroyer in the box for a tying goal at 32', and the 1-1 tie would hold for most of the game. Finally, at 84' TSUUUUUUUUUU snuck a shot past Bliss to push /sp/ ahead 2-1 late in the game, where they would hold on until the end. /sp/ had won a third place trophy for the first time since all the way back to 2011 Summer. With trophy in hand, /sp/ look ahead to Summer, where they would finally have another chance to bring football home.
2020 Summer would be /sp/'s first Elite Cup appearance since 2019 Winter. They were drawn into Group E with /cm/, /w/, and /h/ - a veritable smorgasbord of anime teams. The GOATs wasted no time getting to work. In their first match against /cm/, George Costanza notched the first goal 6 minutes in. From there, it was The Punished Messi Show as he returned to the top flight with a bang, bagging a hat trick with goals at 15, 55, and 61 minutes to power the side to a 4-0 win. Their second group match against /w/ was a much tighter contest. IMT took the first notch and Waifu Walls made it two, though Perro Caca scored a critical goal before halftime to cut the deficit to 2-1. Out of the gate in the second half, George Costanza equalized, then Messi followed to pull ahead seven minutes later. Waifu Walls made it a brace for /w/, but Messi followed suit at 69 minutes. The GOATs kept the match cold the rest of the way despite /w/'s last attempts. With the combination of results in Group E after two games, /sp/ clinched their knockout berth. The last thing they had to play for in their third group match against /h/ was the top spot in Group E and the seeded bracket position with it. While /h/ could not advance, they gave /sp/ a game. Messi bagged his 6th goal at 10 minutes before TSUUUUUUUUUUU showed up with his first of the tournament. Messi made it a brace at 22 minutes to press the advantage to 3-0 before /h/'s Liru got the hentai board off the mark on the following kickoff. Can't Beat the Cock pulled /h/ within one eight minutes later, and 3-2 would hold as the halftime score. TSUUUUUUUUUUU scored again early in the second half, Faceless Fatguy kept /h/ in it, then Messi completed his second hat trick of the group stage at 57 minutes. Can't Beat the Cock would make it a brace, though Messi would respond near the end and make it a double brace. With that final goal, Messi tied the group stage record with 9 goals.
/sp/ topped Group E with 9 points and the better goal difference between them and /m/, the only other Mustard Race team in 2020 Summer. The GOATs drew /u/ for the Round of 16, a side who had barely scraped into the knockout stage with a comeback to win a game they needed to win to survive. The spark ignited from that survival carried over into their knockout match. While the first half was about to be written down in the books as a slurpfest, /u/'s Black Sunshine scored to take a 1-0 /u/ lead into the break. Feito-chan would compound /sp/'s woes early in the second half and put them in a 2-0 hole. Normally, this would not be cause for alarm, as this was the most dangerous lead. If anyone could invoke that power, it was /sp/. Despite turning up the attack, they could not invoke the memes as /u/ choked them out at nearly every step. Homucifer would sink their hopes further at 75 minutes, and /u/ held firm on defense in the last 15 minutes to eliminate /sp/. While the loss put /sp/ below where they hoped to end up, they took away a guaranteed berth in a second straight Elite tournament in 2021 Winter. Messi would also ultimately share the Golden Boot with /c/'s Yui, even after the assists tiebreaker.

For the first 4chan World Cup, /sp/ wore an all white kit with a simplistic green logo. Before the 2012 Winter Cup the team wore blue but eventually settled on the current iconic maroon and orange home kit, based on real world Italian divegrass team AS Roma. For away matches, /sp/ wears solid black kit with orange details. To continue the theme that the club's number one goalkeeper is DA BEARS, the uniform for the goalkeeper is a near representation of the uniform of the handegg team, the Chicago Bears.
The mascot of the club is Paul the Goat (named after the legendary Paul the Octopus), who has gained worldwide fame for his alleged psychic powers. When presented with two boxes containing goat food decorated with the club crest of the two teams who are about to play in a game, Paul has successfully picked the winning team 100% of the time from 25 attempts.
Two logos have been used to represent /sp/ Football Club. While one is the official logo and the other pointless, both are alright to use when depicting the /sp/ Club.

Supporters
/sp/ is known to have some of the most passionate fans in the game. Due to this passion, /sp/artans are often seen as whiners by other boards, especially in the wake of the 2012 SC Bracket Scandal. Due to this, /sp/ was the winner of the Worst Fans Award in that cup. However, /sp/ does boast some of the most supportive fans in all of 4chan, participating in the most watched game of the 2012 4chan Summer Cup. After claiming victory in this cup, /sp/ was flooded with celebratory "MESSIMESSIMESSI" and "THANK YOU BASED TORRES" posts.

This derby's history runs all the way back to the 2011 4chan Summer Cup semifinals–a moment /a/ refers to as Yamakan saving Anime and /sp/ remembers as BasedChoke. They did not meet again in an official match until the 2013 Spring Babby Cup friendlies, which /sp/ won. They met twice more in Official Cup games for the 2014 4chan Winter Cup round of 16 and 2015 4chan Spring Babby Cup group stage, with /a/ winning both. |

| The Not-Sports Derby Whenever there was a WWE thread on /sp/, there was always at least one person who told WWE fans that pro wrestling is fake and that it belongs on /asp/. Eventually, /sp/ managed to get wrestling threads officially kicked off the board with the help of Hiroyuki Nishimura, who succeeded m00t as owner of 4chan in 2015, stoking the rivalry ever hotter. In the 4chan Cup, these teams have completely different mentalities, with /sp/ angrily sacking managers if they don't win cups and /asp/ exercising more patience with their managers. The two teams finally met in an official Cup match during the 2017 4chan Winter Cup quarterfinals, which /sp/ won 3-1. |

| The e-Sports Derby /sp/ and /v/ are intense rivals in a feud that is essentially the alphas vs. the weeaboo gaming nerds, and this rivalry was only made worse after /sp/ sent /v/ to the Loser's Bracket in 2011. /v/ is also jealous of /sp/'s endless creativity, epic maymays and their ability to handle the banter. Despite this, /v/ took control of this rivalry for years, defeating the GOATs in the 2013 4chan Summer Cup round of 16 and twice in the 2016 4chan Spring Babby Cup–in the group stage and quarterfinals. This streak was broken in the 2017 4chan Winter Cup when /sp/ eliminated /v/ in the round of 16. /sp/ leveled the series in the 2017 4chan Autumn Babby Cup with a 1-0 win over /v/ in the group stage. |

- Of the 10 teams to win a 4chan Cup elite tournament, /sp/ is the only one to win every match on their way to the title.
- Closest calls: /a/ won 2011 Summer 8-0-1 when it was a double-elimination tournament. Under the two-stage format, /wg/ (2013 Summer), /trv/ (2014 Winter), /tg/ (2015 Winter) and /mlp/ (2015 Summer) all won with 6-1-0 records.
- /sp/ became the first board to have a sticky thread for a 4chan Cup event during the 2012 Winter Cup, a feat that remained unique to the board until /s4s/ had their own sticky for the 2017 Summer Cup.
