Trofflesby !!fPFxZBomxK6 May 2012 - June 2012

The original founder of /vg/. Never left his name on the page, and so went uncredited for months. However, he was the one who developed /vg/'s popular and stylish 3-5-2 X Quick-Counter formation, as well as creating the initial roster, developing many of the face files, and picking the anthem, Just Wanna Play Video Games. The full extent of the changes and testing done during this period will likely never be revealed, but the earliest save states hint that Chie at least used to be a team member before being subbed out for Matador. This was also the time during which /vg/'s games against /v/, /tg/ & /b/ took place, telling a tale of (mostly) success, earning the team a good standing to start off on.

CancerousAnonymous !!aW26533QJ29 Late June 2012 - Summer 2013

Longtime former manaer of /vg/; stepped in just after the 2012 4chan Summer Cup. Gained infamy among fans by spending the first two friendlies of his regime wasting time changing benched 66-skill player names on the roster, making a kit which has so far been completely unused and changing the team's goalhorn with each match, rather than making any tactical changes whatsoever. Likely only managed to avoid being ousted due to the fact that the team inherited from the anonymous founder(s) still somehow managed to find a way and win the friendlies against /h/ and /s/. Ironically, once he did make tactical changes in time for the /tv/ friendly, the changes were not spotted by Germanbro, leaving a loss on /vg/'s hands and his tactical competency still completely unproven.

The Babby cup went off to a rocky start for /vg/, barely drawing 1-1 to a /b/ which was being actively rigged to be worse by GermanBro, due to failing to meet roster deadlines. The /vg/ prospects in Group H continued to look poor, as they scraped a win against /u/ - despite Gracen Hallibaster, the /u/ manager, not being present for the match. They seemed to show a bit more form against /r9k/, though lost, a situation which made it possible for /vg/ to be eliminated if /b/ beat an already-eliminated /u/ by 2 goals.

Thankfully, Gracen delivered, and /vg/ soared into the Round of 16 and, along with it, the Winter Cup. With a match against the 5-defender formation of /y/, it seemed entirely possible for /vg/'s offense to be completely locked out. However, seemingly through sheer dumb luck, /vg/ managed to hold /y/ at 2-2, not only for full-time, but into extra time too. The penalties which followed were one of the greatest gambles in /vg/ history. The following game, the Quarter-finals, were against /soc/, who were fresh from eliminating /v/ in the Round of 16. As such, immense pressure flooded the /vg/ thread from /v/ fans to "avenge" them. Thanks to tactics donated by Gracen Hallibaster, /vg/ managed to dominate the game, finally ending it 6-4 after extra time, it having been 3-3 at full time.

/vg/ had reached the semi-finals, against /wg/, however, the pressure of the last two games going into extra time was weighing heavily on /vg/'s players, while /wg/ was still comparatively fresh. /vg/'s defense completely fell apart from fatigue, with their offensive conditioning doing them no favours. They lost, knocking them out of the running for the cup, and forcing them to fight for 3rd place against the team which had historically stomped them, /tv/. Both teams were appallingly tired, with /vg/ seemingly having the advantage in conditioning. Nonetheless, /tv/ managed to lockdown the game at a solid 3-0 until, in the last minute of the last match of the cup, Gootecks, who had before now completely failed to do anything in the tournament due to a combination of conditioning and chokes, echoed DesWOW's performance in the September 22nd /tv/ friendly and somehow scored, saving face and letting /vg/ "win 1-3".

For a team which had come so close to failing to qualify for Winter, to finish 4th showed great promise for the raw potential of /vg/. However, the apparent reliance of the manager, CancerousAnonymous !!aW26533QJ29, on Gracen - the /u/ manager - to produce any tactics which were halfway competent and innovative, seems concerning. It may cause problems, come Spring, if not Winter. Nonetheless, /vg/'s future looked bright, as it stepped into the brave new world of PES2013.

CAnon provided seemingly no tactical changes during this period, possibly seeking his cards close to his chest before the Winter Cup. In the invitational Trip Cup, where certain teams (/sp/ & /vp/, to name only two) submitted joke tactics, and others (like /vg/ themselves) didn't bother updating their teams at all, /vg/ made a strong showing, eliminating in no unclear circumstances /mu/, /sp/ and finally /mlp/ to win the cup. The highlight was likely the substitute Right Back defender with no medal or cards, Buggleson, scoring the third goal against /mu/, securing his place in the starting lineup thereafter. Their good fortune seemed to hold, as in the single allowed Winter Friendly, they faced off against another /v/ offshoot, /vp/, for the first time in /vg/'s history. While the game was closely contested, /vg/ eventually managed a 3-2 victory. The close loss against /v/ in the Gracen Test Stream was disconcerting, but the 2-1 loss seemed more down to misfortune, than any particular failings. In all, it seemed just an unfortunate blip against /vg/'s other performances during this period.

Despite having a reasonably safe group, CancerousAnonymous lost a 2-0 lead against /fit/ and panicked, allowing a 2-2 draw to become a 2-3 loss in the last minutes, failed to live-manage during the game against /sci/, resulting in /vg/ losing 1-2 to /sci/, and, /vg/ being already relegated by this point, didn't even bother to submit tactics for the /int/ game, resulting in another 1-2 loss. With 0 points, 0 wins, and 3 losses, /vg/ collapsed out of the bottom of Group E, gaining a red card for substitute RMF Plesioth as they did so.

Being thrust into a Group of Death (Group C) with /m/, /an/ and an only slightly less threatening /cgl/, effectively killed /vg/'s hopes of advancement before the first game. While they managed to stalemate /m/ for a while, poor performance on the pitch left the team 2-0 down at full time. Against /cgl/, the team took a quick lead, only for the seagulls to equalise and go full bus-park. CAnon seemed unwilling to allow a draw, and kept impetuously (foolishly, with hindsight) pushing the offensive, allowing the chinks to form in /vg/'s defence which /cgl/ so ruthlessly exploited, giving them 3-1 against /vg/ at full time. At the /an/ match, it seemed fate would not allow any consolation to the battered and humiliated /vg/, with Eugenics, their Defensive Midfielder and the vital link between their Midfield and Defence, being red carded within a mere seven minutes of play time. Facing the prospect of playing 10 men against 11 for the next 83 minutes of the game, with virtually no possibility of advancement, it seems CAnon decided to go out with a bang, putting on fundamentally ridiculous tactics, apparently trying for "double or nothing" in the red card department. His efforts were to no avail, leaving /vg/ with only one red card and a final score of 3-0 against /vg/. With /vg/ failing to qualify from their group stage with 0 wins, 0 draws and 3 losses for the second consecutive cup, CAnon realised his time was up. After a short period of begging for a replacement to step up and manage /vg/ instead of him, he simply drifted out of the scene, ending his managerial career after just under a year at /vg/'s helm.

Chicago. !.0C2daFIRE Late June 2013 - Early July 2013

Stepping into the void left by the AWOL CAnon, he seemed to at least have a much better idea of what he was doing. With CAnon reappearing a few days after Chicago had stepped up to the plate to offer his blessings to the new blood, it would have seemed he was /vg/'s best chance of escaping the Foetus and again making it to Winter. However, the mercenary /sp/ manager failed to successfully install PES, and in his frustration, gave up on the cup, leaving /vg/ without friendlies organised at the time of the deadline and wasting a chance for valuable points - points /vg/ would need to avoid the Foetus.

DeMessi !!U+s2S3/fT0g 2013 4chan Autumn Babby Cup - Current

DeMessi debuted for /vg/ in a surprisingly difficult group. Though /toy/ was in the midst of purging its own managerial drama they managed to hang on for a 3-2 largely Madoka Titus driven win, the first of many on their way to the cup. In their next game, /vg/ was able to hang around and pull a 2-2 draw against /e/, snapping their 10 game straight losing streak at last with goals by Tamamo and New Thread. Even though they had a chance until the last day, /vg/ was eliminated by /fa/ (itself on the way to 2nd place) 3-1. At this point it looked like /vg/ was bound for the lowest tier Fetus competition, as even /e/ managed to finish with more points in the group.

Using a newly rebuilt squad in PES14, /vg/ was able to secure its first win in ages with Chie Satonaka telling /s4s/ to check her dubs in a 1-0 affair. Success didn't last long as they were savaged by /an/ to the tune of 4-1, with only a relatively late Purple Heart consolation goal.

Due to 4CCC format changes, /vg/ found itself in another babby cup, this time set to compete with 4 other teams in their group. This time /vg/ came roaring out of the gate, demolishing /c/ and /vp/ 3-0, led by new striker Git Gud in both games. After the opening volley however, /vg/ would prove a bit inconsistent, dropping two straight 1-2 matches to /sci/ and /u/. Only a legendary choke by /c/ striker Konata in their final game put /vg/ through to the knockouts and Summer cup on a single point. In the knockouts, /vg/ were able to find some of the magic again, dominating /ck/ with a 3-0 win with Git Gud leading the charge again. In the quarterfinal, they faced a surging /diy/ who they at least took to penalties with a 1-1 regulation finish. However the fifth kick never even needed to be taken as Wilhelm II made a rare tactical blunder. The final score was 1(5)-1(3), but a Quarterfinal still marked an above average /vg/ finish.

A rematch derby throw-down with /v/ did not go /vg/'s way, ending in a 0-2 defeat.

/vg/'s most successful run to date came in an elite cup. The squad was reworked again with the best recruits from the /vg/ League 2, and set to compete with /h/, /ck/, and big brother /v/ yet again in Group D. In the opening round, /vg/ was able to overcome a locked down /h/ defense with a single goal by Simon Viklund, the only goal of the match. In the next match, they lost a similarly tense 1-0 affair to a /ck/ looking to make up for some of its own spaghetti and keep the final day interesting. Finally on the last day, in the third meeting of the Vidya Derby, /vg/ was able to put a magical run together. Goals by practically every striker took /v/ by absolute surprise, relegating them, and giving /vg/ its first derby win and elite cup knockout berth. From there the good times went on nearly unbroken. At first it seemed like /f/ would knock them out in the round of 16, but late tactical panic allowed for goals by Git Gud and Based Mang to push /vg/ to the quarters. Against /an/, Blaster ;) followed Viklund's gameplan and held on for a 1-0 single goal win the entire time. Unfortunately, /vg/ was up against cup winner /mu/ in the Semifinal. An incredibly cheeky pass to The Deak's back leading to a goal was all that it took for /mu/ to win a 1-0 game. /vg/ was at least able to salvage a 1-0 3rd place match win over /x/ with Wilhelm II riding Blaster ;) and commanding him to get a goal. While 3rd place in an elite cup was /vg/'s best all time finish, it also came with the elite cup 3rd place curse inflicted by spookmasters /x/ themselves.
