/vt/ is a board dedicated to the discussion of Vtubers, a category of Japanese-originating live-streamers that use an animated character to personify them on stream in lieu of their actual identity. Since 2020, the trend has expanded into the English-speaking community and beyond. Traffic exploded, requiring a separate board dedicated to vtubers - /jp/ threads were simply no longer enough to contain them. /vt/ now comfortably sits as one of the biggest and fastest boards on 4chan.
The team debuted in the 2021 4chan World Cup.

2022 4chan Summer Cup - How do you blow a 3-0 lead TWICE
In the 2022 4chan Summer Cup, /vt/ was drawn into a tough group in Group F: matched with /sp/, /fit/, and /out/. Each of the three opponents had a historical record in qualifying into the Round of 16.
The first game vs /sp/ started off as a back-and-forth affair with both teams taking their shots on goal. The deadlock finally broke through with an pass from Nenechi to Watamage. /sp/ quickly responded with a Messi to TSUUUU header connection. /vt/ continued pressure into the second half but came out empty. Momentum instead turned in /sp/'s favor in the second half. Tight marking Messi, Pepeloni fouls him right in front of goal, injuring Messi for all of 5 seconds before he returns to the field unmarked, crossing to TSUUUUUU for another goal, ending the game at a scoreline of 2-1 in the /sp/artans' favor.
The game vs /fit/ began as an uneventful affair with both teams losing possession in the front third of the field. Otherwise, shots were missed. Watamage scores in the 31st minute after multiple connections and finally a quick feed from Meds right in front of the goal. However, after this goal, /fit/ controlled the ball on /vt/'s side of the field and eventually equalized. With just a few minutes left, /vt/ had a couple good chances just before the half ended. The tense game continued to be unproductive into the second half with /fit/ generally controlling possession. /fit/ failed to capitalize on any opportunities. The tide finally changed with a fast counterattack down the middle, and Nenechi scoring with the throughball from Watamage to put the game 2-1, leaving /vt/ level going into the final group stage match.
On the final group stage day, /vt/ needs a better result than /fit/ for a chance to move into the knockout stages. Against /out/, the prospects looked promising with a blitzkrieg of three goals by the 17th minute. Each time, /vt/ effectively controlled the middle of the field and went for goal. With an early 3-0 score line, the game seemed effectively over. Unfortunately, /vt/'s goal scoring ends there. /out/ gets on the scoreboard off of a corner that failed to be cleared. For the remainder of the first half, /out/'s defending held off /vt/'s siege, as /vt/ dominated possession at 67%. Then /vt/'s misfortune continues into the second half. The pressure against /out/ continued, and an early second half chance from a unmarked ogey rrat bounced off the post. In similar fashion, /out/ goes down the middle of the field and connects with Smokey to put the game 3-2 still in /vt/'s favor. After some quick back and forth ball control, /out/ got themselves in position to level the score 3-3. The defense made an error putting the ball out the sideline, and /out/ finally got ahead with /vt/'s defense slipping right in front of goal. This easily allowed the go-ahead goal through. With 20 minutes remaining, /vt/'s attacks continued to remain ineffective with two major chances shut down with offsides calls. Finally, all of /vt/'s last gasp efforts to equalize were saved by /out/'s goalkeeper; leaving /vt/ with only a chance to survive via a /fit/ loss by 2 or more. /sp/ would instead concede two in the final 20 minutes to win 3-2, saving /fit/ and relegating /vt/ in the most painful of ways - slipping two 3-0 leads.
/vt/ ended the 2022 Summer Cup with 1 win and 2 losses. All three games were by one goal difference. However, the last game with /out/ will go down in /vt/'s history with infamy. with advancement in the grasp of /vt/'s hands. Instead, the next campaign in the 2022 4chan Autumn Cup awaits. At least, /vt/ came away with some team awards, whether they were wanted or not.

/jp/ was forced to house vtuber discussion for the longest time, forcing the 2hus into hiding while shitposting became rampant. The throwing around of narratives, stories and obviously false theories about vtubers became common place in the biggest thread of them all, /hlg/. It was inevitable though that the unchecked schizophrenia would degrade and corrupt The Narrative, though, turning it into /vt/'s rrat: a unchecked schizophrenic episode characterized by Pekora's stupid face progressively getting more distorted over time as the rrats grew in number and strength.
Despite the exodus, /jp/ continues to have both vtuber discussion and have vtubers in their roster. |
