/xcg/ is a football team representing the XCOM games/genre based on the /vg/ board. Its debut in the /vg/ League 3 was a classic squad wipe where the team lost all 3 matches and scored only 1 goal earning /xcg/ the wooden spoon. /vg/ League 4 didn't start that much better but /xcg/ recovered and managed to get into the knockouts where they lost in the Quarter-finals against /hsg/. Things looked bright for /xcg/ until they suddenly vanished and missed the /vg/ League 5. Hope was lost for /xcg/ and the team was written off but unknown to most /xcg/ was rebuilding itself in the shadows to get ready for /vg/ League 6. After barely escaping the qualifiers and the group stage /xcg/ surprised everyone and managed to get into the Final. The dice fell the wrong way for /xcg/ but they stood proud with a Second place finish. /xcg/ took its good form into /vg/ League 7 and after some hard games stood again in the Final. History repeated itself as /xcg/ lost again and finished Second again. In /vg/ League 8 /xcg/ was unable to adapt and was on the brink of elimination until /xcg/ showed its true face in the Firaxis bowl against /civ4xg/. /xcg/ went on into the knockouts where they got eliminated in the Quarter-finals. With Bradford becoming the new captain in /vg/ League 9 /xcg/ hit hard and was confirmed for the knockouts after 2 games. In the knockouts /xcg/ got its revenge against /ddg/ but was afterward defeated in the Quarter-finals. /vg/ League X introduced an unfamiliar format. /xcg/ was unshaken by the new format and managed to get their best result in the group stage and thus skipping over the Survival Round. /xcg/ met their fate again in the Quarter-finals for the third time in a row. /xcg/ looks now at their legacy and hopes to inspire the squad for the /vg/ League 11.
