The 2013 4chan Winter Cup's Group G featured Summer Cup quarter finalists /d/ and group stage qualifiers /ck/. /hm/ and /v/ arrived from the Babby Cup, with the former reaching the quarters and the latter reaching the round of 16 of that competition.
Summary
Matchday 1
/v/ shut down a lackluster /ck/ side. The latter had a very early opportunity to score but Nachos arguably made the wrong decision by opting to shoot himself rather than passing to the open Perfect Coffee. This was to be /ck/'s only clear-cut chance in the match. Gaben was fortunate to retrieve a stray ball, which pinballed between three players after his saved shot, to score and open /v/'s account. Even though Gaben couldn't count to 3 himself, SANIC surprised everyone by scoring his first-ever major Cup goal, leading to 30 seconds of earrape among the spectators as the 4CCC reluctantly played SANIC's special goalhorn.
/d/ started positively very early on in their match versus /hm/, but were under the cosh for much of the rest of the half. /hm/ spent much time in the final third but could do little with the ball, managing six shots but none on target. The match turned into a story of poor finishing and good defending as neither side found the breakthrough, until Haigure's header was saved well by Hot Facebook Friend after seventy minutes. The deadlock was finally broken ten minutes later by a shot from the edge of the penalty area by Disturbia.
Matchday 2
Superior finishing skills paid off for /d/ as they ran riot against /ck/ in a 4-1 win. Haigure opened the scoring after a quarter of an hour, running onto an incisive through ball and finding the net with ease. He sealed his brace just before half time in much the same way he scored his first, running on to another through ball and sending the ball beyond hapless /ck/ keeper Paula Deen. A /ck/ penalty converted by Nachos showed them a way back into the match though it wasn't to be, as Dmitrys scored with ten minutes remaining in the match to put the result beyond doubt. Haigure sealed his hat-trick at the death to round off an emphatic win for /d/.
Two early goals from Gabe Newell and Reggie were enough for /v/ to see off /hm/. The first came after six minutes as Gaben headed in from a corner. Twelve minutes later Reggie received the ball on the right wing and cut inside, rounding off the run with a good finish past Twink. /v/ would not have another shot for the entire match but a goal for Bearforce with nine minutes remaining in the second half was not enough for /hm/ to overturn /v/'s lead.
Matchday 3
The match between /d/ and /v/ burst into action after thirty-six minutes when Gaben scored a quickfire brace. For the first he outmuscled XXXX Corruptions to pick up a through ball and Consentacles stood no chance in saving the shot. Smelling blood, his second came five minutes later after he again worked the ball out of Corruptions' possession and bore down on goal, easily slipping the ball beyond the helpless Consentacles. No sooner had celebrations ended when /d/ had made a reply via Bob Sapp, as he headed in well from Shitting Dick Nipples' cross from deep. Quick passing play left /v/ reeling and Haigure hit the ball in past a hapless Trip who was caught out of position and left standing as the tame shot rolled into the net. After the break /v/ resolved to regain the lead and they reaped the fruits of their labour when the unmarked Console Peasant headed in from a Gaben corner. Gaben himself completed a hotly-anticipated hat-trick shortly afterwards, when he struck the ball fiercely from the right-side corner of the penalty area and sent it into the net in style. /v/ continued to exert pressure on /d/ but were unable to score any more goals. It ultimately mattered little as they finished top of the group with nine points.
Bearforce picked up the ball from 40 yards out and ran towards goal with some pace. /ck/'s defence was unable to retrieve the ball and the striker converted to give /hm/ an early lead after eight minutes. /ck/ sought to respond and were able to ten minutes later as Milk Jar navigated past several /hm/ players to send a cross into the penalty area which Nachos met with a header to score and equalise. Bearforce was able to complete his hat-trick before the end of the first half, as he scored from a rebound after thirty-two minutes and again from 25 yards in injury time. An unusual tactical change by TunaMerchant at half time neutered the /ck/ threat and /hm/ began to completely dominate play. Disturbia scored just after the break to make it 4-1 to /hm/. Bearforce made it five for /hm/ as he headed in from a corner. While Pink Himalayan Salt was able to score against the run of play /hm/ continued to run rampant and Bearforce scored his fifth, a well-placed shot in off the post after picking up a through ball, with eight minutes remaining in the match. His sixth nearly came after he stole the ball from Iron Chef and went one-on-one with the keeper, but Sad Crab saved well. Disturbia was present to pick up the rebound however and make it 7-2 to /hm/ in the dying moments.
