Summary

Matchday 1

/sp/ went into the group as favorites to promote, and things went to shit immediately when IOAB put /vp/ on the board after thirty-three minutes. /sp/'s managers had a kneejerk reaction to goal and immediately shook up the defense, subbing off Refball and >schalke and replacing them with two poor-conditioned center backs. A flurry of kickoff abuse followed, featuring a debut goal for >he does it for free, a second strike by IOAB, and a header by It's A Hat. The /sp/artans went into half-time completely lost for words, with two substitutes already used. The second half was an improvement for them, with a USA USA USA goal giving them hope of salvaging a point, but it ultimately was not enough. /sp/ can geeeeeet fuuuuuuuuucked...

Meanwhile, /cgl/ got off to the perfect start against >gold defender with two first half goals, despite Shungiku Nakamura pulling off save after save to keep his team in the match. The potential of a nervous finished started by a >gold defender goal was extinguished minutes later as J Nig put the final nail in the coffin.

Matchday 2

For seventy-eight minutes, there was nothing but the sound of semen being slurped in the crowd when /y/ took on /sp/, who were too busy to notice that nobody had scored yet. Dicks popped out of mouths when Semen Slurping Sport of all players set up Le Cut Inside Man, who supplied the only goal of the match and gifted /sp/ three vital points.

Newcomers /i/ made their debut in the cup against /vp/, who were on the board inside the first few minutes thanks to Miror B following up a spilled save from Socket Error. At the other end, First Edition Charizard put on a show, saving shots from all angles and keeping /vp/ alive. Eventually the dam broke and a goal was leaked in, scored by OolongEarlGrey.

Matchday 3

/y/'s manager sent out a four defender and four attacker lineup against the cup debutants, which backfired quickly thanks to shockandjoy's early strike. Non-medal second striker Cum In My Pants quickly put the team back on terms, but Dungeon Waterway was able to restore /i/'s one goal lead. Ramen Yaoi's skillful move and goal was able to secure a 2-2 scoreline at the half, where /y/ decided to substitute a purple-conditioned goalkeeper in place of Denied Pleasure. He was able to keep a clean sheet as outgoing veteran striker Delete Your Misfires secured /y/'s victory with twelve minutes to spare.

/sp/ put on an utterly dominant display against /cgl/, thanks to Le Cut Inside Man's early strike, Messi's keepy-uppy run and half-volley, and Messi's sombrero-and-volley-into-the-crossbar which rebounded onto the head of a grateful Le Cut Inside Man, who nodded /sp/ into a 3-0 lead. /sp/ tried for a fourth, but an unexpected counterattack in second half stoppage time saw Dramu rescue a consolation goal. /sp/ topped the group with six points, and looked set to return to the Elites.

Matchday 4

Stuck on the bottom and needing a win to keep their promotion hopes alive, /i/ took on /cgl/, who were also fighting for promotion (but doing better at least). /i/ managed a dominant first half, but the two teams went into the break deadlocked. /cgl/'s manager made all his substitutes at the half, attempting to fix his weak backline. It didn't help as /i/ scored halfway through the second half, thanks to Not A Fetish failing to defend properly. And then PES crashed and nobody cares what happened in the last eighteen minutes. /i/ went on to win their first match, and were still in contention.

/y/'s final game of the group was headlined with one goal: Win, and win by a lot. Signs were good early thanks to Ramen Yaoi's goal, but a Miror B strike cancelled it out. /y/ were unable to find a way past the /vp/ defense in the second half and went out of the cup on a whimper.

Matchday 5

Despite Mr. Yan's six save performance, /cgl/ could not find the win they needed to bounce back to the Elites. Bravest Bird's first half blooter made things look grim for the Seagulls, and a Miror B goal late in the second half officially confirmed /cgl/'s relegation and /vp/'s promotion. /cgl/ did find a consolation goal from unknown defender Vendetta, who scored from a cross and created a nervy finish for /vp/.

/sp/ fans were already opening the champagne as they proclaimed "I know the game hasn't even started, but we're back in the Elites. It's only /i/, literally who?" However, poor conditions threatened to derail their hopes. And then PES crashed before the game began and they got good new conditions, including a red >he does it for free and a very good looking backline...which failed because Shi-Painter set a new cup record with a goal in just 1:20. And boy oh boy, it got worse. Dungeon Waterway followed up a >de gay save with an easy tap-in, and Space Negro too added a goal to his name. /sp/'s manager threw two defenders out of the game and put some fresh legs on, which paid off quickly as Le Cut Inside Man scored minutes later. The Dutch striker followed up a trollpost-and-goalkeeper deflected shot in the 79th minute, and suddenly, memories of that match against /g/ in 2013 flooded back. They needed a draw to confirm their place in the Elites again. Were /sp/ going to find a way? NO, OF COURSE NOT. shockandjoy left multiple /sp/ defenders in his wake and buried /sp/'s hopes and dreams for good, officially keeping Together Forever alive for another six months and sending /i/ into the knockouts in their debut cup. >Art was promptly sacked as manager and later signed for /biz/ for twenty Bitcoins, and then sacked himself halfway through the cup.
