2018 4chan Winter Cup

The 2017 4chan Autumn Babby Cup was the twenty-fifth official 4chan Cup tournament and the sixth iteration of the Autumn Babby Cup series. The Group Stage began October 27, 2017 and concluded November 5, 2017, with the Knockout Stage streaming the following weekend, November 11 and 12, 2017. The tournament featured a mixture of teams that were relegated from the 2017 4chan Summer Cup, teams that failed to promote from the 2017 4chan Spring Babby Cup, and teams who promoted from the 2017 4chan Autumn Babby Cup Qualifiers. Due to winning the previous Babby Cup, /lgbt/ hosted this tournament.

/r9k/ emerged victorious in this tournament, claiming their first Babby Cup title after beating /x/ 2–1. /co/ took third place after slipping in a win against /a/ 2–2 (5–4 in penalty kicks). The thirty-two team format used in this cup returned in the 2018 4chan Autumn Babby Cup, after the following Babby Cup abandoned it in favor of the Megababby.

Competitors

Thirty-two teams competed at this tournament; sixteen of the teams qualified by means of relegation from the 2017 4chan Summer Cup, and the rest qualified either by failing to advance from the 2017 4chan Spring Babby Cup, returning on autopilot from The Cull, or promoting from the 2017 4chan Autumn Babby Cup Qualifiers.

Draw

The group draw took place on October 21, 2017. The hat prediction to win the cup was Biz icon.png /biz/.

Teams are placed in four different pots based on seeding. Seeding is determined by:

  1. Finishing position of the 16 relegated teams from the 2017 4chan Summer Cup in that tournament.
  2. Finishing position of the teams who finished third in their group stages from the 2017 4chan Spring Babby Cup in that tournament.
  3. Finishing position of the teams who qualified by advancing from the 2017 4chan Autumn Babby Cup Qualifiers.

All of the highest-seeded competitors (the top eight relegated from Summer) are placed in Pot 1, the next-highest in Pot 2, and so on until all four pots contain eight teams.
