2020 4CC Champions League qualifying stages

2020 4CC Champions League

The 2020 4CC Champions League qualifying stages will determine six teams that will compete in the 2020 4CC Champions League main tournament. Teams are given entries into either the Champions Path or League Path qualifying stage by winning select memevitational tournaments or by finishing as runners-up in 4CC or /vg/ League tournaments. Both paths are planned to take place in separate weekends before and after /vg/ League 14 and will be streamed on either the main 4chan Cup Cytube or the Multinational Bowl CyTube and like in the main tournament, is expected to be played in PES 2017.

Competitors

Champions Path

Teams that win select memevitational tournaments will enter this stage. This path will follow a group stage format where three teams will advance out of this path and into the main tournament. This stage is expected to commence the weekend before the start of /vg/ League 14, with the draw planned to be held the Monday prior.

League Path preliminary round

This is stage 1 of the League Path. Teams that finish in 3rd place in either Babby Cup or /vg/ League tournament will enter this round. In each matchup in this round, each VGL 3rd place team is drawn against either of the two Babby Cup 3rd place teams. The winners of each matchup will advance to the League Path qualifying round. This stage and the next will take place the weekend following the conclusion of VGL 14. The draw for both stages is planned to take place the Monday after the VGL 14 finals.

League Path qualifying round

This is stage 2 of the League Path, which will commence immediately after stage 1. This round will have 2 groups of 4 teams. The two group winners will enter Pot 3 in the main tournament, while the two group runners-up will compete in a playoff. The team that wins the playoff will enter the main tournament.

~~/vg/ League 14 ruleset for Champions Path qualifiers~~
New rule set for League Path qualifiers and main tournament:
- GSSBB (99/94/89/80), GK's 77
- Height bracket rules:
  - 10x 185cm (increase to 189cm if GK)
  - 7x 180cm
  - 6x 175cm or lower (can have 4/4 weak foot usage/accuracy, and 2nd A position if non-medal)
- Non-medal CB's can have a +5cm height boost
- Cards: 5 + 5 trick for Golds, 4 + 4 trick for Silvers, 3 + 3 trick for Bronzes, 2 non-trick cards for non-medals (plus up to 2 additional non-trick cards for 175cm or lower). GKs only get 1 card as per usual; captaincy is free
  - Trick cards: Scissors Feint, Flip Flap, Marseille Turn, Sombrero, Cut Behind & Turn, Scotch Move, Rabona, Malicia
Live managing with the Rigcam, pastebins, and autopilot play are now all allowed. Current managers of teams that qualified via autopilot are permitted to live-manage, but caretakers are not.
- Pastebins are permitted and encouraged for those who do not wish to live-manage.
Tournament will use UEFA Champions League (4chan Elite Cup) mode, so all non-4CC teams (memevitational and VGL) will be assigned invitational slots in which to place their aesthetics and tactics exports.

League Path

Both matches in the preliminary round are conducted in a two-leg, aggregate score format. In case of a tied score after both legs, the team that has scored more away goals wins the tie. If the tie is drawn, and both teams have scored the same amount of away goals, a tiebreaker third match is immediately played after the second leg with 5-minute halves and all players in green condition. The home team of the second leg is given home designation for the tiebreaker match. The match is conducted under sudden death rules: first team to score wins the tie. If the tiebreaker match ends scoreless, the match proceeds to a penalty shootout.
