The 4chan Cup Champions League is a near identical version of the IRL UEFA Champions League, which features the best clubs each major European football league has to offer. The 4CC CL will happen on an annual basis and takes place over the course of 9 months, beginning after the conclusion of the Autumn Babby Cup and ending with a single final match after the conclusion of the next Summer cup. The objective is to pit the consistently best teams in the 4CC against each other to determine the best of the best.

The current tournament is the 2015 4CC Champions League.

Rules

All 60 4CC teams (notwithstanding this being subject to change with new boards being created and old boards with dying interest) are split into 4 divisions of 15 teams, the organization of which is based on board content. An attempt was made to organize the teams as "correctly" as possible, shown below.

Points

Ideally, 4CC CL will only feature the most consistently good teams throughout the course of one year of virtual divegrass, preferably in the two Elite Cups. The scoring system will favor teams that produce wins and goals in the Elite Cup, though it's theoretically possible to amass a fair amount of points through excellent Babby cup performance. Points scored from performing in either Elite Cup are weighted four times more than that in either Babby Cup. Each team will earn points based on their performances in the 4 major cups throughout the year, starting with Winter and ending with Autumn. Points are earned for:

  • Wins: 3 points
  • Wins (PK): 2 points
  • Draws: 1 point
  • Losses (PK): 1 points
  • Losses: .2 points
  • Goals Scored: .4 points
  • Goals Conceded: -.4 points
  • All categories are multiplied by 2 for Elite cups and halved for Babby Cups. That value is then multiplied by ten to eliminate the decimal place.

Instead of awarding 0 points for a loss, the value .2 was chosen to give it a legitimate weight compared to a win, which therefore is 15 times more valuable than a loss. Also of note, a positive value was chosen to avoid punishing teams too much for not succeeding. As such, the true value in defeat lies only in how bad the defeat was, as GA is the only statistic that can lose points for a team. Not playing in a Babby Cup due to either ded or rigging will award one negative win, worth -15 points. This is for not ranking ded teams higher than teams that actually participated in the cup, but did poorly.

Tiebreakers

  1. Elite cup wins
  2. Total points from wins
  3. Points from GF (>tfw)
  4. Head-to-head results from same year (if applicable)
  5. One-game playoff or coin flip, as determined by the commissioner

Previous Champion

The previous winner of the Champions League will win an automatic birth into the next tournament, regardless of that team's finishing place in that next season. If necessary, the division that the previously-winning team plays in will only have two automatic bid spots. So if a team wins the CL one year and places 6th in their division the following year, the top two teams will earn an automatic placement in the group stage while the 3rd- and 4th-placed teams will compete in the Qualifying Round.

In The Event of Riggy

In the event of rigging that nullifies a team's results, that team will receive 0 points for the duration of the rigging. The teams affected by the rigging will receive various results depending on the outcome of the rigged match:

  • If the affected team lost, a 1-0 loss will be applied to their record, regardless of how many goals were scored against them.
  • If the affected team drew, a 1-1 draw will be applied to their record.
  • If the affected team won, the win will be preserved, so long as the goal differential *and* goals scored do not exceed 3.

For example, a 4-1 win would become 3-0, a 5-0 win would become 3-0, a 2-1 win would remain 2-1 and a 2-0 win would remain 2-0. This is designed to give merit to teams that earnestly tried competing against a team they did not know was an illegitimate team.

Format

Qualifying Round

The standings will be finalized once the Autumn Babby Cup has been played in its entirety. The top 3 teams from each division will automatically advance to the group stage. The 4th- and 5th-placed teams will compete in a single-game qualifying round, sending 4 more teams to the group stage. This will occur rather soon after the Autumn Babby Cup has finished. A random draw will determine the home and away teams for each match. One qualifying team from a particular division can be matched against the other qualifying team in the same division. Once the qualifying round has been completed, the 4 winning teams will be sorted into the 4th slot of each Pot, starting with the teams from the divisions with the most total points. Normal tiebreakers apply afterwards.

Group Stage

Once the qualifying round and group stage draw are complete, the 16 teams will form 4 groups of 4 and play a group stage consisting of 6 games each, allowing each team to play a home match three times. The schedule follows the same format as Elite cups in terms of which Pots play each other. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage while the bottom two teams will be eliminated.

Knockout Stage

The remaining eight teams will be drawn randomly against each other and will play a double-legged match in each round. Away goals scored will serve as the tiebreaker between these two legs. There will be no 2nd leg in the Final match. There will also be no third place match. Third and fourth place will be determined by performance in the semi-final knockout round.

Tie After 2nd Leg

If the unlikely scenario happens where two teams draw on aggregate (for instance, 2-1 favoring the home team in each match), the golden goal rule will be used. A third match will begin and the first team to score wins the tie. This "3rd leg" match will be played immediately after the conclusion of the 2nd leg. If this 3rd leg is a scoreless draw, penalties will decide the winner.

Teams/Pots

Divisions

All 60 teams are split into 4 groups of 15 teams as follows:

Tottori

(Animation)

Jenkey

(Creative)

GermanBro

(Interests)

DragonFag

(Adult/Other)

The names for each division are chosen after cup legends that adequately fit the teams that are in that division. "But why didn't you use [this person]'s name?" Because we happened to choose these, whatever, it's not that big of a deal, maybe it can be changed, make a petition desu tbh. If anything, you can always just refer to them as the Anime, Creative, Interests and Adult/Other divisions.

Pots

Also of import will be the total points scored by each division overall. The top three teams from the division that scored the most points overall will form the first three teams in Pot 1, the top three teams from the second-highest scoring division will form Pot 2, etc. The teams that advance from the qualifying round will be sorted into the Pots based on their division's total points in the same aforementioned manner. Normal tiebreakers will apply if two teams qualify from the same division.

Schedule

Like UEFA Champions League, the tournament will be played sporadically over the course of roughly 9 months. Due to IRL constraints and a lack of Cup dates for other major cups, exact dates cannot be determined. However, the basic plan for when the various parts of the tournament will be played are as follows:

  • Quals: 1 Week after Autumn Babby Cup
  • First round of group stage (first match for each team): Three-four weeks after Autumn Babby Cup (late Nov, early Dec)
  • Second round of group stage: Four-five weeks after the Autumn Babby Cup (mid Dec)
  • Third round of group stage: Two-three weeks after Winter Cup (early Mar)
  • Fourth round of group stage: Three-four weeks after Winter Cup (early Mar)
  • Fifth round of group stage: Three-four weeks BEFORE Spring Babby Cup (mid Apr)
  • Sixth round of group stage: Two-three weeks BEFORE Spring Babby Cup (mid Apr)
  • First round of knockouts (both legs): Four-five weeks after Spring Babby Cup (early June)
  • Second round of knockouts (both legs): Three-four weeks after Spring Babby Cup (early June)
  • Grand Final: Two-three weeks after Summer Cup. (mid Aug)

Once again, no dates are confirmed and all approximations are very much estimates. The main idea is to give teams enough time to prepare for each match during each round of the tournament.

Miscellaneous notes:

  • All stadiums will be predetermined as soon as the matches themselves are determined.
  • There will be NO LIVE RIGGING during any match. Nightly (or matchly) exports and pastebins are strongly encouraged.
  • Normal 4CC match rules will apply - emotions off, tackling assist, 3 subs, random condition, etc. - and extra time/penalties will be on for necessary matches.
  • All matches will be played on different versions of Pro Evolution Soccer MOST LIKELY due to the competition length. Ample notice will be given when switching to a new version of PES.
  • The export AND pastebin submission time will be two hours before normal Cup time (17:00 UTC) on the matchday involved.
  • There will be major export deadlines throughout each yearly tournament. Teams will be allowed to make any changes to their team (so long as it is 4CC-compliant) IN BETWEEN the 4 major cups. Otherwise, things like player cards and attributes may not be edited.
