This is a timeline of significant events in 4chan Cup history. For the sake of precision, the dates of many teams' formations is recorded as the date when some sort of significant presence was placed on the wiki (roster, team page, description, etc.). Some dates are sourced from /m/'s archive, as this hosts some of the oldest permanent records of 4chan Cup discussion. In cases where dates are not known, approximations are acceptable.

• /mu/ wins the 2014 4chan Summer Cup, defeating /hr/ 2-0.

• The 2014 4chan Autumn Babby Cup begins. The tournament sees the first matches for /biz/, /i/, /t/ and /w/. Initially, /t/ was not going to make it to the cup, but took the place of /fit/.

• /b/ wins the 2014 4chan Autumn Babby Cup, defeating /e/ 2-1.

2015

February

13th

• The 2015 4chan Winter Cup begins. The tournament sees the relegation of the final elite team, /mu/.

March

1st

• /tg/ wins the 2015 4chan Winter Cup, defeating /h/ 1-0.

April

24th

• The 2015 4chan Spring Babby Cup begins. Four teams are chosen to play on autopilot, three of them are promoted (reduced to two because of >/cgl/)

May

17th

• /tv/ wins the 2015 4chan Spring Babby Cup, drawing 2-2 with /co/ and winning 5-4 on penalties.

• The 2015 4chan Summer Cup begins.

August

• Oh god, it happened. /mlp/ wins the 2015 4chan Summer Cup, defeating /g/ 2-1.

• The 2015 4chan Autumn Babby Cup begins.

• /out/ defeats /int/ 3-2 to win the 2015 4chan Autumn Babby Cup, a season after finishing 40th out of 40 teams in the previous Babby Cup.

• The 2016 4chan Winter Cup begins.

• /fit/ wins the 2016 4chan Winter Cup, defeating /u/ 4-3 after extra time.

19th

• DrBorisG steps down as commissioner of the 4chan Cup; Lear was named as his successor.

April

15th

• The 2016 4chan Spring Babby Cup Qualifiers begin.

17th

• /o/ finish with the best record in the 2016 4chan Spring Babby Cup Qualifiers after being demoted to the Fetus Cup due to an invalid export in preparation for the Babby.

May

6th

• The 2016 4chan Spring Babby Cup begins.

22nd

• /m/ defeats /vr/ 3-1 to win the 2016 4chan Spring Babby Cup, becoming just the third team to win more than one 4chan Cup title, as well as becoming the first team to hold the same title in a single event more than once (Spring 2012).

• The 2016 4chan Summer Cup, marking the 5th anniversary of the 4chan Cup, begins.

• IT HAPPENED AGAIN. /mlp/ defeats /o/ 5-2 to win the 2016 4chan Summer Cup, becoming the first team to legitimately win 2 stars, and 3 4chan Cup titles overall.

• The 2016 4chan Autumn Babby Cup begins.

• /jp/ defeats /p/ 3-1 to win the 2016 4chan Autumn Babby Cup

2017

February

10th

• The 2017 4chan Winter Cup begins.

• /fit/ defeats /mu/ 3-1 to win the 2017 4chan Winter Cup.

• The 2017 4chan Spring Babby Cup Qualifiers begin.

30th

• /his/ finish with the best record in the 2017 4chan Spring Babby Cup Qualifiers.

May

12th

• The 2017 4chan Spring Babby Cup begins.

28th

• /lgbt/ defeats /n/ 2-0 in the final of the 2017 4chan Spring Babby Cup to become the first team to legitimately finish a cup with a perfect 7-0-0 record.

29th

• The Cull was announced, disqualifying six teams (/adv/, /c/, /out/, /p/, /t/, and /y/) from competition until after Summer and being disallowed to compete with a manager until after Autumn, due to investigations from each of these teams showing lack of interest by the board or management in the Cup. The aforementioned teams may still compete in Autumn as autopilots if enough fan interest could be proven by their boards by then.

30th

• In an amendment to the Cull, /c/ and /y/ were removed from the list of culled teams due to showing sufficient interest to merit removal from the list, and instead were placed on probation, along with /w/, in a new board interest policy that may result in those teams being placed in stasis should no significant improvement in board interest be found after a Cup by either of these teams.
