The MLS was a small time sports league until Seattle (Sounders) was given a team. Everyone became jealous over Seattle, because of how fast they became good, the fan support, and the star talent that wanted to play on their team. Seattle has been mocked over their fans (fight and win), their inability to win the MLS cup, and the fact that their rival won the MLS cup before they did (I hope caleb porter suffers an heart attack...)
/Cosmos/
Before the MLS there was the NASL. The Seattle (Sounders) were a small decent team that went to 2 Soccer Bowls (The championship game), and were matched up against the Cosmos both times. Seattle lost both games 2-1 and 1-0 and never won a championship, while Cosmos won 5, the most, in the league. Also Cosmos are based in New York and Seattle doesn't like New York (See 2001 ALDS). Fuck New York.
