As the marble season rolls along, our competitors are taking part in a different type of competition.

Hello everyone, I'm Greg Woods.

/marble/ has found themselves in a unique spot in the /sp/ world. Covering marble racing and sporting events, specifically those on the Jelle's Marble Runs YouTube channel, interest in marble events on a board dedicated to "real sports" was not easy to come by. Starting life off as /mar/ in 2019 and eventually becoming /marble/, most threads would die within a few replies, if not dying with zero replies or removed by a janny who did not appreciate the art and competitive nature of marbles. It looked like it wasn't going to pick up interest on 4chan.

Then, in March 2020, COVID-19 hit. Every single sport was suspended.

Well, except one. The inaugural season of the Marbula One racing competition was halfway through, and since Corona-Chan doesn't affect marbles the season continued with no interruptions. Suddenly, threads were going from zero replies to hitting bump limit, and a full scale general finally took hold as /sp/ users who had their regular contests suspended finally took a look at our sport. This continued on with the yearly installment of Marble League (formerly MarbleLympics), and a dedicated fanbase was established on /sp/.

With /marble/ now a common presence on /sp/, calls were made to establish a football team for /sp/erb Owl competitions. With help from many /marble/ faithful, a team of some of the most decorated marble athletes on the planet was formed to represent the sport. Spanning everything from a red card on the inaugural match, to 5 goals a few matches later, to winning penalty kicks a few after that, /marble/ has proven themselves as one of the most interesting team fielded.
