The 2018 4chan Winter Cup was the twenty-sixth official 4chan Cup tournament and the seventh iteration of the Winter Cup series. The group stage began February 16, 2018 and concluded February 25, 2018, with the knockout stage the following weekend, March 3 and 4, 2018. Teams which advanced to the knockout stage of the 2017 4chan Summer Cup and those which secured promotion from the 2017 4chan Autumn Babby Cup competed at the event.

/lgbt/ hosted this tournament by virtue of their victory in the 2017 4chan Summer Cup. After the first Elite Cup final to go to penalty kicks, /u/ triumphed over /mlp/ to achieve their first tournament victory.

Thirty-two teams competed at this tournament. Sixteen of the teams qualified by advancing to the knockout stage of the 2017 4chan Summer Cup and sixteen qualified by promoting from the 2017 4chan Autumn Babby Cup.

The group stage draw was held on February 10, 2018. The hat prediction to win the cup was  /lit/.

Teams were placed in four different pots based on seeding. Seeding was determined by:

1. The finishing position of the top 16 teams from the 2017 4chan Summer Cup in that tournament.
2. The finishing position of the top 16 teams from the 2017 4chan Autumn Babby Cup in that tournament.

All of the highest-seeded competitors (the top eight finishers from Summer) were placed in Pot 1; the next-highest in Pot 2, and so on until all four pots contained eight teams.

•  /u/ became the first team since  /wg/ in Summer 2013 to break the Pot 1 Curse in an Elite Cup and the first since  /toy/ in Autumn 2013 to break it in any Cup.
•  /u/ became the second NSFW board to win an Elite Cup.  /wg/ was the first in Summer 2013.
•  /u/ became the second weeb board to win an Elite Cup.  /a/ was the first in Summer 2011.
•  /mlp/'s Princess Twilight scored the 4CC's first-ever equalizing 120'+ goal in the 2018 4chan Winter Cup Final vs  /u/. This also made the match the first Elite Cup final to go to penalties and the second final to ever do so, following the 2015 4chan Spring Babby Cup Final.
• The 2018 4chan Winter Cup Final set the Audience record of 3,389 viewers, beating the previous record set by /v/  vs  /mlp/ in Summer 2013 quarterfinals with 2,902 viewers.
•  /u/ became the first team to legitimately reach two consecutive Elite Cup finals and the first to reach an Elite Cup final for three consecutive years, following 2016 4chan Winter Cup Final and 2017 4chan Summer Cup Final.
