Going to use this to testbed solutions to the m/u logo issue. I mentioned in the /m/ thread that a MediaWiki regex could be used to sanitise the arguments but those don't seem installed.

For some reason this breaks Autumn 2013, despite icons showing up fine in article preview. Time to fuck around wiht it here.

BEHOLD, REGULAR EXPRESSIONS
The following (#rreplace:m/u|\/|_) should display m_u: {{#rreplace:m/u|\/|_}}
and this should be looking for M_u_icon.png, but still display /m/u/: /m/u/ [[File:{{#rreplace:m/u|\/|_}} icon.png|25px|link=/m/u/]]
Finally, this should just show the /mu/ icon as usual: /mu/ 
since that still apparently broke shit in the actual code, time to try a bunch more things

Normal slash (current, not working):
