| In all of North American professional hockey, only the Original Six teams of the NHL and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League have played continuously in the same city with the same name longer than the Fort Wayne Komets. Ever since 1952, the Komets have had an excellent history of players and nine championship runs that spans over 65 years of minor league hockey, across four different leagues, and are still a perennial postseason team that brings in hockey fans of the area even to this day. This tradition and deep history behind the Komets, as well as its home being the home of the /komets/ manager, is more than enough to warrant it as a new team in the upcoming /hoc/ League. | | In all of North American professional hockey, only the Original Six teams of the NHL and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League have played continuously in the same city with the same name longer than the Fort Wayne Komets.
