The 2017 4chan Summer Cup was the twenty-fourth official 4chan Cup tournament and the seventh iteration of the Summer Cup series. Group stage play began on July 28, 2017 and continued through August 6, 2017. The knockout stages took place on August 12 and 13, 2017. The tournament featured a mixture of teams that qualified from the 2017 4chan Spring Babby Cup, as well as the teams that managed to qualify for the knockout stage of the 2017 4chan Winter Cup. /fit/ hosted this tournament by virtue of their victory in the 2017 4chan Winter Cup.

/lgbt/ became the first team to win back-to-back Cups, with a spectacular victory in this tournament after the 2017 4chan Spring Babby Cup.

Competitors

Thirty-two teams will compete at this tournament; sixteen of the teams qualified by means of advancing to the knockout stage of the 2017 4chan Winter Cup, and sixteen will qualify by means of advancing from the 2017 4chan Spring Babby Cup.

This cup will be the debut Summer Cup and debut Elite Cup of /his/.

Originally, /t/ and /out/ were slated to participate. However, due to The Culling, they were replaced with the next highest ranked active teams from Spring, /sci/ and /o/.

Draw

The group draw occurred on on July 22nd at 13:00. The hat prediction to win the cup was  /o/.

Teams are placed in four different pots based on seeding. Seeding is determined by:

1. The finishing position of the top 16 teams from the 2017 4chan Winter Cup in that tournament.
2. The finishing position of the top 16 teams from the 2017 4chan Spring Babby Cup in that tournament.

All of the highest-seeded competitors (the top eight finishers from Winter) are placed in Pot 1; the next-highest in Pot 2, and so on until all four pots contain eight teams.
