/vt/ is a board dedicated to the fairly recent emergence of vTuber fandom. It was created on January 29, 2021.

Team History

Origins

The existence of vTubers has been around for years, with the advent of Hatsune Miku and then later Kizuna Ai. As all things in the beginning, it was a niche underground fandom that hasn't gained traction until popularity grew.

That popularity was stemmed by Hololive during the year 2020, which saw an explosion of vTuber fandom exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Fans in 4chan weren't numerous enough, until traffic in /jp/ was dominated by Hololive threads. This increase lead to some /jp/ autists to turn to /qa/ to push for a separate /vt/ board. That day came on January 29, 2021.

As a side note, the Amazing Orange is claimed to be the first vTuber by shitposters, but the fact of the matter: Kizuna Ai is deemed as the first vTuber as indicated by notable sources. Yet it is funny to think of the case otherwise.

With the celebration of the cup's 10th year anniversary in the 2021 4chan World Cup, /vt/ is made eligible to participate. The emergence of a team is ongoing and rapidly nearly operational status. Roster polls and the like are in progress.

/jp/ - Japanese Culture Wars	/jp/ is immediately marked as a rival as the board attempted to contain vTuber activity confined to a mere 2-3 threads. Eventually containment was broken, and /jp/ became filled with vTuber threads. The Touhou fags in particular were not happy. The creation of /vt/ enabled an exodus of vTuber postings into its own board, returning /jp/ back to its previous dead state.
