The complete history of all things /d/

Team Colours

In the original board meeting the colours were decided upon, they would be purple and gold, these colours gradually changed into the Violet and Mustard colour the team uses today. The original reason for the colour change was because when the /d/ custom kits were being created they were sampled from existing Italian club ACF Fiorentina kits, hence why the home kit is now traditionally Violet, the away kit White and the Goalkeeper kit Charcoal. As the /d/ kits gradually changed style - from Fiorentina, to Czech Republic and now to a completely custom variety the formula of the kits has only changed marginally from Violet shirt, shorts and Gold socks to Violet shirt, Purple Shorts and Gold socks. The away kit has taken similar changes; from White shirt, shorts and socks to White shirt, Gold shorts and Violet socks. Some other changes have been made, the kits are lightly based on Italian side Catania otherwise it's been marginal changes. Nobody has ever read this and I often wonder how I have written so much about virtual kits.

Badge

The current /d/ badge

The old badge was created by Anonymous and features tentacles clutching a faceless demon-girl. The badge itself has been regarded as one of the best of the entire cup by thread-based Power Rankings and in its simplicity still shows off the heritage and culture of /d/. At the badge's base lies the inscription "In Tentacles Speramus" which means 'In Tentacles we Trust' and has now been adopted as the club's motto, even though the correct Latin translation would be "In Tentacula Speramus" some things just shouldn't be messed with.

While no one disputes old badge's artistic merit, in August 2015 it was decided to switch to a badge created by Cake which looks a bit more like a real FC badge. It also features more /d/ references: tentacles, BDSM (whips), futa/humor (the most recognizable bulge), and monstergirls (horns). The old badge might still be used in some fashion in the future, since it does look great.

History

Founding

Founded in December 2011 at the beginning of the Babby Cup boom /d/ are one of the older clubs in the competition; in a thread that gained surprising popularity amongst /d/eviants they soon got players together and decided on team colours and even drew up a rudimentary formation (see image). Given the timing of the teams founding coincided with a large change to the cup itself they found themselves in a group with /m/, /toy/ and /vp/ as the teams that would spearhead the creation of the Babby Cup. It wasn't long after that the team started to pick up steam as they decided upon a Goalhorn (Violent Pornography - System of a Down) and an Anthem (ULTRAnumb - Blue Stahli) to adhere to the rules that were in place. The original squad that /d/ named originally had 26 players. they were (Bold still active):

It wasn't until a couple of weeks later until a second thread came along where /d/ discussed goalhorns and anthems, by this time /m/ were testing formations and discussing the possibility of having management in this cup and had already looked to install someone so up stepped occasional /a/non and long time lurker on /d/, Guar/d/iola who volunteered to install the game and test out some tactics for the /d/ team. By the time he had done this /d/'s interest was waning and threads had gotten fewer and fewer up until the point the idea of a Babby Cup was finalised. With Vore being voted off as of the Winter 2017 Cup, Dmitrys became the last surviving member of the original /d/ team.

Early Years

/d/'s first friendly and first ever game would bring /sci/ as the opposition, /sci/ would be heavily penalised and their team consisted of all 66* rated players - the game finished 1-0 to /d/, Shitting Dick Nipples the only name on the scoresheet. From there things took a turn for the worse and an embarrassing defeat to /s/ and handing /cm/ their first ever win left Guar/d/iola a lot of thinking to do. The 2012 Spring Babby Cup went very well for /d/ with their strongest finish in any competition after coming 4th, losing to eventual winners /m/ and even defeating finalists /3/ in the group stage 4-0. Following the reasonable success of their first ever cup competition Guar/d/iola went into conditional retirement after feeling he could no longer manage a team by himself; he left the team with a formation and players.

The 2012 Summer Cup friendlies were a mixed bag for /d/ and started with a 2-0 win against /cm/, throwing away a lead twice to draw with /y/ 3-3 and hammered by a strong /vp/ side 5-0. The draw for the 2012 Summer Cup saw /d/ drawn with strongly fancied /sp/, unknown quantity /b/ and potential dark Horse /o/ in what later turned out to be a group with 2 unmanaged teams and 2 teams managed by the same person. However the unmanaged /d/ prevailed after a crushing defeat to /sp/ after leading comfortably for most of the game, a tense 1-0 victory against /o/ and an 8-goal thriller beating /b/ 5-3, managerless /d/ had defied reason and were rewarded with a second round match-up against /pol/ - this piqued the interest from /sp/ user Based Soviets !Ydpjq4fCnU who in his own words saw it as a way to fuel his "massive ego" and to show off his supposed coaching prowess. /d/'s 1-0 victory over /pol/ from a 35 yard out freekick from Haigure on paper seemed like a great result but between the lines Based Soviets !Ydpjq4fCnU relied heavily on the fact /pol/'s then manager Cozmo !911.1dt/BY not showing up to the game and the team rode their luck in quite a few moments in the game, added to this the managers determination not to use the orange conditioned players at his disposable and instead continued with the fatigued blue players led a lot to be desired. /d/ and Based Soviets !Ydpjq4fCnU would eventually run out of luck in the Quarter-Finals against /int/ who went on to win 2-0 and he didn't return to the fray for another 3 months when he ruled himself out for good, citing 'Coaching reasons'. /d/ finished 2012 without having to play a single competitive game.

Managerial History

8th January 2012 to 22nd April 2012 (10 games) - Guar/d/iola - W5 D2 L3

/d/'s first official manager, he wasn't really as such elected by /d/ but he was the only one to download the game and the only person to test for /d/ thus earning him the privilege. His experience came from watching the game for many years and also playing the sport at amateur level this apparently was enough experience as he saw through /d/'s difficult Spring Babby Cup campaign and his work was the backbone of /d/ even after he left. He willingly resigned directly after the Spring Babby Cup had finished and has since taken a back-seat role as the Assistant to the later Manager Based Soviets and as the Caretaker Manager after he was sacked.

17th July 2012 to 3rd August 2012 (2 Games) - Based Soviets !Ydpjq4fCnU - W1 D0 L1

An appointment of some controversy as Based Soviets was somewhat renowned for being a mercenary manager and after allegedly being refused by /3/ and /a/ he came into the role after being asked by /d/ to take charge following /d/'s advancement from the 2012 Summer Cup group stages. He came into the job boasting good experience coaching with MLS side DC United (see statement) unfortunately for both /d/ and Based Soviets this experience never materialised and his managerial career ended abruptly. He was sacked after failing to appear after his /int/ defeat in the 2012 Summer Cup Quarter-Finals.

8th August 2012 to 10th September 2012 (2 games) - Guar/d/iola - W1 D1 L0

Guar/d/iola's second spell in charge was following the Summer Cup, after growing pressure was put on teams to make tactics for all games Guar/d/iola was forced to put together tactics for friendlies against /tg/ and /c/. Guar/d/iola suffered a rather public mental breakdown in the thread after forgetting the deadline for the /c/ friendly cup commentator Frontier Psychiatrist made a rousing speech on Vocaroo which appeared to have worked as /d/ went on to beat /tg/ in their next friendly. Frontier Psychiatrist would go on to make the tactics for the /h/ friendly, which /d/ lost 1-0.

9th January 2013 to 20th February 2013 (3 Games) - Catchment !k.78CAo0N6 - W1 D0 L2

Much like Based Soviets before him, Catchment originated from /sp/ and took charge of /d/ for the 2013 Winter Cup which saw /d/ relegated for the first time. Catchment didn't contribute much on thread so very little is known about him.

28th February 2013 to 25th November 2013 (16 Games) - Chance !!7M5Ec7DQIsF - W6 D4 L6

Chance came in to try and bring stability to an already crumbling /d/ side after their relegation from the 2013 Winter Cup. His first test was to steer the team back into the promise lands via the 2013 Spring Babby Cup, he achieved this with aplomb by creating an ever dangerous team that played with attacking flair and defensive sensibilities led by top scorer Bob 'DA BEAST' Sapp that saw them cruise through the group stage, break records and get knocked out to eventual winners /mlp/. Unfortunately this wasn't to last as poor performance after poor performance saw /d/ dumped out of the 2013 Summer Cup and eventually reaching the lowest ebb after crashing out of the following Babby Cup. This proved too much for Chance as he soon after went on a hiatus, ending what was a turbulent 2013 for /d/.

26th November 2013 to 19th July 2014 (8 Games) - DrDtroit !!i08rv3lDtpa + Mewyabe !!nQ8F1/ZhKLe - W1 D2 L5

Things didn't get much better in the first half of 2014 for /d/, for while they were saved the fate of competing in the Fetus due to the creation of the Mega Babby, they proceeded to turn in their worst performance ever with a disastrous 39th place finish in Spring. The cup started off fine, with a 1-1 draw to /ck/, but quickly turned south with a run that included a loss to /fit/, a 2-6 drubbing by /tg/ that stands amongst the all time worst games for the /d/ club, and finishing with a 0-3 no-effort loss to /int/.

19th July 2014 to 8th August 2015 (15 Games) - DrDtroit !!pVg5N2qQSk/ + Cyclohexane !!4LPJDnm9UYM - W6 D3 L6

After the disastrous Spring Babby Cup Mewyabe was sacked and Cyclohexane came in his place. The Autumn 2014 cup was a heartbreak for /d/, most remembered for the infamous 2-2 draw against then-new /t/ in which /t/'s goalkeeper had 10 saves and /d/ allowed /t/ to come back from 2-0 down to equalize, sending /d/ management into shock. Before that came a 1-1 draw against /3/ and 3-2 loss against /b/, which when combined with other results sealed /d/'s fate in 3 games as they were confirmed to be eliminated. However, /d/'s final game in the Autumn Cup was their best yet, a 7-1 victory over /k/ which sealed a third place finish in the group, /d/'s first cup win in over a year and very good seeding for Spring 2015.

The 2015 Spring Babby Cup was /d/'s best performance in years; grouped with /k/ (again) as well as /n/, /vg/, and /hm/, /d/ started out decently enough with a 2-2 draw to /n/ on a /n/ 90+ goal. However, through the next two games, /d/ blew the fuck out of /vg/ and /hm/, 4-1 and 6-0 respectively, which put /d/ on the verge of advancing to their first Elite Cup in two years. A comeback 3-2 victory over /k/ sealed the deal as /d/ topped the group undefeated and went on to win their first two knockout matches over /vp/ and /o/ with 6-1 and 2-0 scorelines. However, matchups against eventual 2nd place /co/ in the semis and autopilot /cgl/ in the third place match proved too difficult for /d/ as two consecutive losses left /d/ at 4th place. Most notably, /d/ ended up tying Winter 2013 /toy/'s goal scoring record with 24 goals in their 8 matches this cup.

/d/ was riding high heading into their first Elite cup since Summer 2013, preparing to face off against /u/, /fit/, and perennial powerhouse /mlp/. However, their joy was short lived as immediately they dropped their first game 0-1. Despite taking nearly double the shots, poor accuracy and one missed save did them in against the lesbian crew. Needing a tie to stay alive, the squad next matched up against /fit/. Once again, despite looking to be the better team and taking more shots, a missed save at 10' was all /fit/ needed. A small bit of controversy erupted due to /fit/'s "anti-football" ball control during the entire second period, to the point of not even allowing /d/'s subs to come on. After the match day, Cyclohexane announced the next game would be his last before heading into retirement while vowing to take away a win. Unfortunately, his 5-1 prediction fell the wrong way as /d/ was decimated against the pony-based team. The first half ended at a 1-1 tie, but the second half was all /mlp/ as they scored goals of every kind. A poor end to a period of relative success from this managerial team.

8th August 2015 to 31st January 2019 (25 Games) - DrDtroit !!pVg5N2qQSk/ - W10 D5 L10

With a lone manager for the first time in nearly two years, /d/ took the field once again in the 2015 Autumn Babby Cup, grouped in with perennial babby rival /k/, /e/ /w/, and /v/. Although things started off well against /k/, Ivan Chesnokov activated full auto and fell the /d/eviants with a hat trick, giving /k/ their first win in the series. /d/ then traveled to play /e/, resulting in a 3-3 draw that was hard-fought on both sides. Reeling and with only a single point to their name, they hosted /w/ in hopes of a win, which they got by a scorline 2-0, featuring a solid shut-out performance from Tentacles and the defense. In the end, they needed to beat /v/ by two goals to clinch promotion. The /d/ side dominated the first half with a 5-0 lead, but the second half proved to be a near nightmare, as Gaben opened up /v/'s scoring, and Sanic raced against the clock towards the end of the game to play spoiler, scoring two and missing the hat-trick header by mere inches, leaving the game 5-3 and allowing /d/ to return to the elites. Their first opponent in the knockouts was another rivalry game, this time against /h/, but it ended much the same way as /d/ was eliminated 1-2 in another hard-fought game.

Knowing from their previous venture up just how hard the Elite cup can be, /d/ braced itself for the worst while hoping for the best, drawing a group with /cm/ and two former champions, /wg/ and /mu/. There was very much a feeling of suspense in the locker room before the first game, with a general notion of game 1 already being a make or break in the air. Unfortunately, /cm/ eked out a 4-2 win after taking advantage of some sloppy /d/ play and ill-advised strategy. The feeling of despair and memories of Summer were already creeping back into the minds of fans and players alike as /d/ stepped onto the pitch at El Monumental to face /wg/. However, Faye Artemis and Dmitrys were adamant that those follies would end, with each being responsible for a goal. Between this and some savvy defensive play, /d/ came away with a 2-0 victory and a very real shot to finally advance to an elite knockout for the first time in several years. With /wg/ taking a 4-2 victory over /cm/, this meant that /d/ needed to do no worse than a 2 goal loss to the already-elevated /mu/ to secure advancement. The result came in the form of a 0-0 thriller, complete with midfield ferocity and missed shots. Reguardless, this placed /d/ second in the group and locked them into the Elite Knockouts, something that had evaded them since Summer of 2012. Their first opponent was a familiar face from Summer: /u/. /d/ came out hot, scoring a quick opening goal, but this allowed the/ u/ management to fix their broken export, and from then on it was almost all /u/. The new /u/ formation was able to snuff out /d/'s offense while easily poking through the defense, and while /d/ was able to tie it up in the 65th minute, a quick turn around for Feito-Chan to score in the 67th minute sealed an early exit for the /d/eviants. Still, most agreed that it was quite a run and showed that, while they might not be there yet, the potential to become Cup champions was simmering within the team, just waiting to be brought out.

Coming off their first Elite Knockout appearance in 4 years, tensions were as high as hopes for the Summer 2016 /d/ squad. Most outsiders had them as one of the weakest teams in their pot, however, and in a group with the now-powerhouse /out/, surging /vp/, and ever-dangerous /sp/, it would take a lot of work to repeat their success. The first game found /d/ taking on /vp/, a matchup that has always been a wild one over the years. This game proved no different, with both teams trading the lead but settling on a 3-3 draw after a 86' goal by Miror B. After not scoring since Spring '15, /d/ Humor Thread finally ended his slump by putting two in. With /out/ coming off a victory over /sp/, and only having 1 point, the second game had an air of "make or break" to it. Could the /d/eviants take down the Autumn champs and reigning third placers? After a long, hard, and hot match, /d/ walked away with a 2-0 win off of a 61' goal by Futa/Alternative, a 90+1 by Dmitrys, and a 4-save clean sheet for H*nd H*lding. Now leading their group with 4 points, it was time to face old demons in a rematch of "The Greatest Comeback". A draw was all that was needed to move on, while /sp/ needed a draw to stay alive. In that sense, both teams won, as Succubus' 8' goal was matched by Messi at 30', and Futa/Alternative's half-opening 49' goal was met by TSUUUUUUUUU evening it up for the final time at 55'. Though they couldn't claim a full revenge, they did claim a spot in the knockouts. After the result of the second game, in which /vp/ won by too much, /d/ was able to top the group with 5 points. /d/ was drawn against /v/ in the first round, an ironic match-up in that /v/ had drawn much tactical inspiration from /u/, the team that eliminated /v/ in the Round of 16 a cup ago. /d/ Humor Thread scored first at 3', but Sanic was too fast for Tentacles and evened it up at '14. BUT FIRST claimed the lead for /v/ at 48', a scoreline which held until 78', when Dmitrys gave some hope back to the /d/eviants. With such a late goal, extra time seemed assured. Unfortunately, BUT FIRST instead brought the lead back to /v/'s parallel dimension just 2 minutes later, sealing /d/'s fate. While it didn't bring a star, Summer brought about two firsts for /d/: their first ever back-to-back Elite Knockouts, and the first time ever topping an Elite Group. Those, combined with finishing in a 3-way place for 9th alongside /r9k/ and /soc/, showed another step forward for the /d/ club; though it left them wondering when the big breakthrough would finally come.

2017's Winter cup was one full of questions. Moving from the goalfest of PES 2016 to the more defensive stylings of PES 2017, and off the heels of another first round exit, how would the team respond? Well, turns out it'd respond by clinching it's spot early! It stormed out of the gate with a 3-2 victory over a tough /toy/ team, then followed it up with a 90+ corner goal to defeat /e/ 1-2. With the other results in the group, /d/ became the first team in the competition to clinch it's spot, and the only one of the opening weekend. /d/ Silver DMF Monster Girl Encyclopedia picked up a yellow card in the process, however, and due to already being confirmed, was sat for the /tv/ game to avoid the chance of a suspension for the round of 16. This resulted in the already relegated /tv/ getting a rather easy 3-1 win to help them avoid wooden spoon contention. While this meant that /toy/ topped the group instead, /d/ was ready for it's first Knockout opponent. They didn't need to wait long, being drawn into the first game to face off with /mu/. The game vs /mu/ was a very back and forth affair, with /mu/ scoring first early but Futa/Alternative tying it up quickly thereafter. In the end, though, /mu/ put in a second goal in the middle of the second half and, despite 12 shots (with 8 on target), /d/ never put another one past Merzbow's famed Wall of Sound. The same old song played as /d/ fell in the first round once again.

Once again, the Summer cup rolled around. /d/ were drawn against last cup's ender (and 2nd placer) /mu/, the Babby's 2n'd player in /n/, and /lit/. It looked to be a tough road to advancement for the purple and gold, but it was one they were ready to tackle. The journey began vs /lit/, in a game that ended 1-1. Tentacles put one in just before the end of the first half and /d/ looked ready to take a victory, until /lit/'s Start with the Greeks put one past H*nd H*lding at the 90th minute. Moving on with a somewhat crushing draw, the old rivalry with /mu/ would potentially spell out /d/'s destiny in this group. /mu/ scored first early on, but then everything broke down for them. Not only did Succubus tie it up 10 minutes later, but (in what would be the most famous moment of the group stages in this cup) Anthony Fantano was credited for an own goal when he passed it back to the famed Merzbow who instead watched it roll past him. Tentacles scored in the 69th minute to ice it, and /d/ played their role in /mu/'s eventual Wooden Spoon finish. Going into the final day of the group, /d/ could clinch another Knockout appearance though a victory, but would still have chances with a draw or a loss. /n/ promised to be a tough opponent, being the group-topping team at the beginning of the day. As it turns out, /d/ was more than up to the task. Futa/Alternative put one in early on, and the team held /n/ to 0 total shots to take a 1-0 victory and make their 4th straight Elite Knockout. /d/'s hopes were once again riding high, being drawn against /m/ in a game that certainly seemed attainable. In the end, despite holding /m/ to a 2(0) shot total over 120 minutes, the 0-0 game ended with /d/ losing to /m/ in benuldies after misses by both X-Ray Cumshot and /d/ Humor Thread. The Quarterfinals remained tantalizingly close but oh so far away. However, there was still much to be happy about, as with so many former elites falling /d/ became the longest reigning consecutive Elite team at the time, clinching an appearance in what will be their 5th consecutive Elite cup in Winter 2018. As well, they got the most Group Stage points they had in their history at 7. The improvement continues, but the results refuse to change.

2018 Winter came in as all winters do, with chills. Not only the sharp cold winds, but the painful promise of a new season of divegrass. /d/ was drawn into a group with /m/ (A rematch of last season's final match), /co/, and /wsg/. Many predicted /d/ to have a relatively easy time making it out, but it quickly became evident that this was not the case. The cup started out with a disastrous 3-0 drubbing at the hands of /wsg/. In a match many expected to be lopsided in /d/'s favor, /wsg/ caught fire and completely dominated a seemingly hapless /d/ side. This brought the playoff streak into immediate jeopardy, not only from a group pointage perspective but also just a general mentality one too; how could a team be expected to do anything but be relegated after that? The next game needed to be a huge improvement or this tournament would be over before it ever began. However, that wasn't the only thing on /d/'s mind in the second match against /m/; the sting of last season's great escape was still on their minds, and a chance to avenge it felt as sweet as candy. This became a driving force in the 4-2 victory /d/ was able to achieve off the back of a Monster Girl Encyclopedia goal and a Tentacles Hat Trick, itself capped off by a 90+3 sliding header. /m/ was no slouch this time either, wanting themselves to prove last time wasn't a fluke, but /d/'s players had just the bit more fire. That 90+3 suddenly seemed very important, given that it put /d/ only one goal behind /wsg/ for second place in the group. It was time to face /co/, and possibly the reaper itself given /co/ had only conceded one goal all cup. The match was a very tense affair, but /d/ was able to come out on top 2-1 to give themselves 6 group stage points. However, that only put them level in GD with /wsg/, meaning any victory by /wsg/ would cause /d/ to fall out despite their two wins. The outcome was completely dependent on the /m/ team they just defeated being not only able but even willing to take /wsg/ down. It looked grim deep into the game as /wsg/ had a 2-0 lead, but much like many of /m/'s classic Mecha series, former foes become friends and miracles only come at the end. Alteisen Riese found a way through at the 65th minute to show /m/ the way, and Mazinger Z followed in those footsteps not once but twice, scoring at both 76' and 83' to give /m/ the lead. With the game suddenly on it's head and so little time left, /wsg/ was unable to find an answer and /m/ won in a heart-stopping fashion, allowing /d/ to live another day. Of course, up next was the now-cursed Round of 16. From the riggers hat popped out a familiar face in this streak, the very first team that defeated /d/ in those long-ago 2015 Autumn Knockouts: /h/. Both teams' biggest rivalry game in the most important space it had ever occupied, both teams itching to be the one to come out on top. Unfortunately for /d/, they were too eager to play that they were unable to properly defend on corner attempts; 2 of them sailed easily into the waiting /h/ offense and H*nd H*lding was unable to stop them. By the time the defense shaped up, it was already 3-1 and almost out of reach. Though Futa/Alternative added a second at the 84th minute, it proved to be too little too late to keep themselves away from a 6th straight Round of Sixteen failure. Having finished with less points in both groups and rankings than the previous cup for the first time in their Elite streak, it could be that the decline has began and the window of opportunity has closed. Yet, still being guaranteed a spot in Summer, hope may always spring eternal that this was the calm before the storm that would be a run to the star.

Summer brings dickgirls in bikinis, Tentacle beaches, and another rousing cup full of new horizons. 2018's Summer cup brought us together with our mirrored foes /b/, old tag team partner /x/, and perrenial frenemy /e/. After how shakey Winter's advancement was, to draw the Babby champs, a strong Babby contender, and a recent top 8 perfomer was scary, but there's nothing to prove worth better than such trials. First up was /b/, who had barely prevented /d/ from promoting many years ago in Autumn 14. This time, though, /d/ was coming out of the gate hot, achieving a convincing 3-0 victory in a game where they allowed 0 shots whatsoever for /b/. After such a dominating performance, the /d/eviants were riding high coming into the toughest match of the group. /x/ had drubbed /e/ 4-0 in their last match, so it was up to these two to prove which one was the real contender. Thought /x/ fought hard, /d/ achieved another impressive win to the tune of 1-3. Given other results, this meant for the second time in this streak that /d/ was through after it's first two games. The lovely lewdies of /e/, given that they were already eliminated, instead of going down without a fight requested that our /deviant/ players give them a fair game, and the request was accepted. The result was a 0-0 game in which both sides gave it their all, neither team needing to completely regret anything. Of course, after the group stages comes the round of 16, which has proven to be an unbeatable titan for this /d/ team. They topped the group, allowing them to face /tg/ in their first round match. Given the history between the boards, it was a welcome foe, someone worthy of playing against no matter the result. The battle raged, with Orkz and Orcettes spreading Dicks and Dakka everywhere, but after the smoke cleared the champion of the bout was obvious. /tg/'s stalwart defense was able to completely control /d/, and the poor aim when they were able to shoot resulted in a 0-2 defeat to the "older brother". The sting of a 7th straight Round of 16 exit dulled the post-game exploration of each other's magical realms, at least for the lewder side. The hunt for an extended run continues.

1st February 2019 to Present (12 Games) - DrDtroit !!pVg5N2qQSk/ + Kinsey Type F !!SHeuLX1RDVQ - W8 D6 L7 C1

The advent of 2019 brought along a new face and an old friend. Featuring a management team for the first time since 2015, the team headed into the familiar pitches of PES 2016 for the 2019 Winter Cup. Drawn against /co/, /int/ and /w/, the team was able to feel confident of its chances to continue its streak, though no win is ever guaranteed. Regardless, hopes were high heading into the first game against /co/. /d/ was able to strike first, with Monster Girl Encyclopedia netting just before the half. 1-0 is not safe in this game, however, as /co/ scored twice to take a 2-1 lead into the final minutes. In one of the craziest moments in team history, Genderswap and No Cock Like Horsecock scored rapidly, both in 90+', to give /d/ 3 improbable points and leave /co/ with a sting they'd be hard-pressed to recover from. They took that momentum into what could be a pivotal match in the one vs /int/, who despite their autopilot status destroyed /w/ in game 1. This was a truly back and forth affair, goals being traded at almost mach speed. This time, though, the extra-time luck was against /d/ as after tying it up at 79', /int/ took the go-ahead goal at 90+2' with an amazing shot from PROOFS?. Karma had spoken, and Gondola was its adorable messenger. Thus the team's luck was even as they entered the final match against /w/, a team that looked very beatable on paper but proved itself to be formidable on defense through the games vs /co/ and most of the game vs /int/. Again, the game was slow, ending /d/ 1-0 /w/ at the half. Things were looking good so far... and then everything fell apart. /w/ suddenly switched on, scoring 3 goals almost before one could blink, and panic was in the air. It was enough to get a second goal for H*nd H*lding, and things looked for the moment like they could turn around one more time, but it wasn't meant to be. Waifu Walls put the nail in the coffin a mere 5 minutes later, and just for good measure, Powerlevel hit one in at 90+1, leaving this cup to be one where the extra time was a harsh mistress. The streak was over, and though crestfallen, the players duly congratulated the impressive /w/ side as they moved on along with /int/ into the Knockout Round before retreating to the locker room for the post-game orgy. All things considered, the team put up an honorable fight against opponents who proved to be just that much better, and though they'll be seeing the babbies for the first time since 2015, the probability to return in Summer feels high in the heads, hearts, and loins of every /d/eviant.

Spring 2019 was set to be a whirlwind of a cup, bringing a new PES, new hopes, and a chance to return to the elites. Drawn into Group E along with new-day power /n/, a shaky /lgbt/, and a /toy/ side that had seen better days, things looked promising at the outset. The campaign began against /lgbt/, bringing about a 1-1 draw that barely was; while Monster Girl Encyclopedia put one inside around sub-time, Boipussy snuck in a goal at 85 to rob 2 points away from the /d/ side. With /n/ looming over them in the next game, it became a very demoralizing hit to take. The game against the transportation-obsessed turned sour, with /n/ grabbing the first two goals of the game, one at 29' by Bepsi and '52' by Hipster Fixie. Though H*nd H*lding would send one in late, there was no fixing the state of the team in this one, with a 2-1 loss that looked even worse than the scoreline could state. However, there was still hope at the bottom of the /toy/box; A win would get them in due to /lgbt/ falling to /n/, while a 1-1 result would still grant them the possibility of moving on in the rare Triple Playoff. Many who supported neither side came to see if this odd feat could come to pass, and while Woody did his part early, /d/ couldn't do theirs; not only did they fail to score, but the door was completely shut at 79' by >webshop Exclusive. On the outside looking in again for the second consecutive cup, the disappointing 1-point group stage granted them another change of scenery; not to the elites as hoped, but to the fetus round in Autumn, an indignity once barely avoided by the creation of the Megababby back in the Spring of 14 but now coming to collect its payment. Regardless, as several teams before have shown, racing from the Fetus to the Elites is far from impossible, and thus gave the team and the fans hope that they could cut their freefall and return with a fire that would let it blaze a trail back to where it once called home.

For Autumn, the /d/eviants were entering uncharted territory; being the team's first-ever trip to the fetus, it was important to show they didn't belong there. Drawn in a group with /trv/, /sci/, and /vr/, it was going to be a tough fight from the start. Game 1 was a heartbreaker, with /d/ losing to /sci/ 2-1 off of Shinichi Mochizuki's two late goals (79' and 89') outcounting Monster Girl Encyclopedia's lone effort. Hopes sank even lower vs /trv/, who off the back of this 1-4 walloping became the best team of the fetus (and eventual Autumn Cup champion). The only hope was a /trv/ victory over /sci/ (which handily enough happened) and a victory over /vr/ with enough GD to give /d/ priority. A big win was needed to avoid the shame of fetus failure... and it was delivered in h*nd. H*nd H*lding scored a hat trick and, with a solid performance from Giantess, gave /d/ a 4-0 win over the /vr/ Troopers and a ticket to Autumn proper, though if only by their foreskin. With those games in the books, the slate was wiped clean and, placed into a group with /vp/, /y/, and Big Brother /tg/, dreams were high even with tempered expectations from the teams' fetus struggles. Starting against /y/, fans were eager for a barnburner against a rival the team hadn't yet faced, but instead received nothing but blue balls. A hot 0-0 thriller erupted at the Zyzz Memorial Bronasium between the two teams, with neither looking like much of anything. Moving on to /tg/, who were desperate for a win after a 3-2 defeat by /vp/, the game was MUCH less of a disappointment. With /d/ in new Slaaneshi kits celebrating the relationship between the two teams, they struck first, 7' in from H*nd H*lding, only for a 9' answer from Thin Your Paints. From there Doomrider and Paints combined for two more successful attempts, while /d/ could only muster a too-little-too-late answer from Breast Expansion for a 3-2 match that wasn't as close as the scoreboard claimed. Yet, still with hope, and fresh off a miracle advancement already, dicks were crossed that it could happen again. However, /vp/ was far too much in the driver's seat; despite needing only a 2 goal win, /d/ could only muster a 1-1 draw, and that's merely off of an 89' H*nd H*lding goal. Of course, while this would prove to be enough to keep them from bottoming the group, it would not prevent them from entering the fetus again... if they failed to win a three-game playoff group. The history books may not record these, but a 4-0 funfest vs /gd/ and a 2-1 win over >/sp/ did happen, giving /d/ a decent but not assured chance of escaping the fetus next time around.

Spring 2020 began with a small bit of hope. The fetus was shrunk to the point that the previous playoffs didn't matter, and as such, all three teams involved were given spots in the baby. /d/ was given a group that was much maligned at the draw, with /int/, /sci/, and /r9k/ being the teams who would compete with the /d/eviants for entry into Summer. As the cup began, /int/ loomed large, as the team who played an instrumental part in ending /d/'s near-legendary streak. However, any anger at that fact wasn't evident during the match, as it ended in a 1-1 scoreline with strikes from both Spurdo Sparde and Monster Girl Encyclopedia. As an opening match, bringing home a point isn't terrible, but it's helped that the other match also ended in a draw, giving the group confidence that it still had a bright future ahead of it. The second matchday of the group began in a big way, as /int/ decimated /r9k/, begging /d/ to make a huge statement in order to make it through the groups and reach Elites once again. It did as such, as it scored 4 goals on an unsuspecting /sci/. However, thanks to a late goal by hat-tricker Shinichi Mochizuki, that statement only ended in a single point, as a 4-4 draw was the result of the match. Unfortunately for /d/, that lead to a precarious position. Their only hope was a win, or a very specific draw in order to make it through. /d/ was first on the match day, and despite battling hard, only managed a 1-1 result against /r9k/. The next game between /int/ needed to be favorable to give the /d/eviants safe passage. There were a handful of results, but the one that happened, a 1-1 draw that was the 5th draw in the group, was one of hope, yet venom. It was one that leveled /sci/ and /d/, guaranteeing /int/ through and /r9k/ out. However, the other two teams would be forced to decide who is in and who is out, and in a playoff that served as /d/'s 100th official match, fates would be decided. The match went back and forth, but in the late moments /d/ took the lead, and despite an amazing effort by /sci/, 4-2 was the result, giving /d/ a second life in the cup and /sci/ a ticked back to Autumn. Throughout the groups, Tentacles had done just enough to get his team through, but he had tired. Despite her troubles as a starting keeper, Giantess, who had been decommissioned as a backup, was picked to start in the round of 16 match. Many /d/ fans have seen the script before; make the Knockouts, be eliminated first, hope next cup brings better. Yet, with every campaign, hope reigns until it is extinguished. The first match for the /d/ side was against /diy/, who had come into their own once again recently as a team worthy of praise and adoration. The game was very quiet besides a first-half /diy/ strike, leaving the /d/ faithful ready o swallow the same bitter pill as it had ever since Autumn 2015. But, with two strikes from No Cock Like Horsecock (who was overcome with emotion at being able to pull the weight for her team) they took the lead, and looked for the world like they could do it. Hopes were dashes in extra minutes, as MacGyver managed to put together his paper clips and wood shavings in time to deliver /diy/ from the brink and move the match into extra time. In extra time, both teams gave their all, but the difference was made, by one player. You could see them wrapped up in the netting, unsure of what to do, how to react, completely static in their team moving past the first round for the first time in forever. The player was a snek, and the team was /d/. /diy/ would have to wait for their first KO win as /d/ found away to win the match and move on to face /g/ in the second round, a run that had already eluded them for exactly half a decade. That match vs /g/ proved to be one of /d/ominace, while /g/ scored 4' in, /d/ controlled the rest of the match and got what is so far their lone outright win of the tournament, 3-1. Standing in their way in the semifinals, though, is an old foe. Legends told of a 3-4 loss to this team that had been stricken, but et still happened. One of the biggest teams in the cup, one that gave the most passion, and one that, if /d/ could beat them, would be a feather in their cap regardless of the final positions. /sp/ was Exaliftin, and all roads to glory ran through them. Messi scored first, striking fear into the hears of every /d/eviant, only to be answered almost immediately by H*nd H*lding. Messi hit again in the first half, and by halftime the GOATS were already celebrating their advancement. The second half did nothing to stop them, until the sub time occurred; at the lewdest minute, H*nd H*lding spoiled the party by evening the match. Horsecock gave everyone a hope they hadn't known in years with a goal at 81', but the party on this side was summarily spoiled by an 86' goal by George Costanza. The ensuing extra time was flanked by several excellent shots on goal by both sides, summed up by Giantess miraculously saving a series of point-blank shots by Messi, leading to Benuldies. Facing yet another moment of extinction, /d/ decided to play it cool, leaving Giantess a prize in being the anchor man of their benuldy kicks. /d/ quickly went up 2-0, due to said keeper doing a great job in blocking opposing strikes. By the time Giantess came up, however, it was 1-2, and with her miss, became 2-2. With such a lead eroded, anyone who had followed this much-maligned team knew the jig was up, and that their eyes should turn towards summer. That is, until Muscle Goddess kept her team in it despite >de Gay's best efforts. If El Ogro De La Norde made it, it would continue, and benuldies wou8ld eventually spill /sp/'s way. Ogro lined up, Giantess faced him down. Two completely tired gladiators, in a singular moment for everything either held dear. In the end, only one team could make the finals. Ogro attacked. Giantess leaped. And, with giantess being one of the largest players in the cup, it was only the best of efforts she could give to keep Ogro out of the net, meaning... /d/ would make its first-ever cup final. The team and it's fans rejoiced, and could only watch a marvelous /wg/-/wsg/ final with bated breath to see who they'd either crown, or be crowned by. A fun 5-7 goalfest in the other semi-final gave a final matchup of /d/ and /wsg/, both teams who have had sour luck in Round of 16 matches, yet had finally broken through. Only one team could get the glory, and to ensure it was /d/'s time the team decided to ride the hot hand that helped them get here and gave Giantess her shot at glory, despite Tentacles being in the better condition. The ensuing game was a tense affair with both sides giving it their all, several shots pinging just off the crossbar for each team, making this a game of millimeters. Whoever could steel their nerves and finish their shot would be the one to take the trophy, and neither team could do it in regulation. 0-0 at the end of 90', benuldies looming large over a team who escaped by the skin of their teeth from them one match prior. The first 15 went by with not much action, leaving everyone on the edge in many ways. The second half of extra time was a bit more action--packed, though neither team could sink. With the ball rolling out for a corner in the 117th minute, /wsg/ decided it was time to unleash the beast that had helped them break /m/; a full force forward attack to break a stalwart /d/efense in the dying moments. Looking for heaven while risking hell, Did He Died? kicked in the ball, trying to find any teammate. The ball bounced behind the attack, leaving a race between Sensible Chuckle and Stuck in the Wall to get it. With the entire opposing team forward, Futa/Alternative took the chance to break forward, hoping Wall could get the ball in time. Felix was able to roll a tiny bit quicker than his opposition and fed the ball directly to Futa, who had a clear break to the goal from midfield. It was down to her shot selection, if she could fool the keeper. And in a moment where so many strikers, /d/'s included, had choked so many times before, the seemingly easy 1 on 1 with the keeper, she found the way to do it. Popping it just over the keeper's diving body, a second away from his hands, the ball bounced with no opposition into the goal as the 120th minute ticked on to seal the fate of the game, the cup, and both teams. /d/ would hoist a trophy for the first time in it's history, and despite a valiant effort, /wsg/ would fall just a moment short. A glory the team had never known coming from a run that could have broken at so many points became a magical moment in the heart of every /d/eviant. Yet, there were still bigger fish to fry, and after a week-long party that closed the locker room for months, the team began to look at Summer with an attitude lacking hubris, and instead gained a determination to work from this rung towards the greatest height they could imagine.
