Summer 2017 - A Few Folds Short
Spring 2018
The eleventh Babby Cup for the paper brigade commenced with their being drawn into Group E, a group jam packed with teams that have had a rich history of crumpling /po/. /g/ had come from Pot 1, a team that gave /po/ one of their most unfortunate losses in the Spring Babby Cup just last year after the paperboys advanced into the Round of 16. The second team drawn alongside /po/ were /o/, a team responsible for being placed in the 2016 4chan Spring Babby Cup Qualifiers due to a failed export submission and kept /po/ out of only their second Babby Cup. As /po/ were drawn from the middle pot, all attention was focused on the Pot 4 team to join the group, /ck/. Though they were a taco shell of their former selves, /ck/'s Winter 2015 campaign started with a 3-0 drubbing of the paper squad, thus starting a two year downward spiral of /po/ towards the bottom of the recycling bin. Also, a new and unproven team has surfaced to face /po/ as well. If there was a time for redemption against all these teams, now would be the perfect time to do just that.
The dawn of a new Elite Cup would usher in a more confident /po/ team, brought in from their Top 16 finish in the 2017 4chan Spring Babby Cup. Since their last outing in the Elites in Winter 2015, this Cup would be a deciding factor in whether /po/ could cut it at the Elite level. The group draw sent /po/ into Group D, against three opponents that would be a proper challenge to the papermen. First of which was, quite possibly, the second strongest team from the previous Babby Cup, /trv/, a team that's improved since the last time they lost to /po/. Their second opponent were the 2016 Autumn Babby champs, /jp/. A more recent match proved /po/ can stand on even ground with them, but /jp/ had since claimed a Top 8 finish in the face of more serious competition during the Winter Cup. The third and last opponent would be /vr/, a new opponent that had barely squeaked their way into this cup, and also, /po/'s first opponent in this Cup.

The first match was against /g/, and from the very start of the match, the power of technology was on display, and /po/ were immediately thrust onto their paperweights and doing the best they could to hold the /g/ offense, led by Install Gentoo, at bay. Off of a corner kick by Teedus, a deflected shot became a blooter chance for CS Grad. The shot banged off the right goalpost, but Terry A. Davis was there to recover the ball and put it in for /g/'s first quick goal of the game. But /g/ wouldn't be finished nor satisfied. At 23' into the match, Terry tried for another goal, but this time the Cutting Mat was there to block the shot. As the defense of /po/ was scrambilng to clear the ball, however, it was stolen by Install Gentoo, who installed football.exe into the net for a 2-0 /g/ lead. A foul by /g/ defender Pajeet would give /po/ a chance to get a goal. Paper Plane came close, but Stallman snatched the ball out of the air, and the /g/ assault continued. A stoppage goal before halftime snuck in from Install Gentoo after a diving headed ball rolled its way in on the far corner of the goal. It was a monstrous assault for /g/, with 14 shots on goal, 8 of them coming close or in, in just 45 minutes, and Cutting Mat came through with 7 saves after the half. /po/ would need a miracle to come back into this match.

With high hopes for their Elite campaign to begin, not a single soul within the entire 4chan Cup, let alone the /po/ management and its players and dedicated fanbase, would expect the first goal of the match by /vr/'s Doomguy to be the new fastest goal in 4CC history, friendlies or otherwise. However, /po/ wouldn't let a 65 second goal concern them, and in minute 5 of the match, 1,000 Cranes, off the lob pass of Moneygami, swooped forward and scored back to even it up, 1-1. That tied score would prove to be short-lived, as Doomguy would come back in yet another example of severe kekoff abuse, ripping and tearing through the paper brigade once more, the game set at 2-1 in the 8th minute of play. After those 3 goals were scored, it was up to /po/ to fight back and slow the tempo down, as they're fully capable of doing. After some rough back-and forth, /vr/'s Bubsy would get another goal past Cutting Mat, and /po/ were put into dire straits, 3-1, and halftime would be called with that same score. In the second half, it would be up to /po/ to throw some newspapers through /vr/'s window like Paperboy used to do. Broken Printer would steal the ball away, and drice a long pass to the Cranes, who aired the ball up to Moneygami. The most expensive player in the /po/ roster lined the shot and drove it into the goal from the other end of the penalty box, and the game would get a little more interesting on a 3-2 score at the 56th minute of game time. Both teams issued their subs a little while later, however, the /po/ management went into a full overhaul of the team's formation, quite possibly the longest amount of time taken on a timeout. Whether it would work or not, a 6 man attack squad with 2 defenders would be a very risky move by the /po/ management during this game. However, that extended timeout proved very effective for /po/. In minute 87, 1,000 Cranes found a way and swooped in in dramatic fashion for /po/'s third and final goal of the game, and after a chance for /vr/ to get cheeky getting snuffed out by the /po/ defense, ending the game on a 3-3 draw. Truly a historic match in the annals of /po/'s history despite the draw.
/po/ would come back from halftime with a plan that would foil the /g/ offense, but not before another cheeky goal leaked in from the Thinkpad off an Install Gentoo assist, making it a 4-0 game. In dire straits and with a slim chance of coming back to even draw the match, /po/ had their answer. Who better to counter /g/'s offense than a broken printer? After /po/'s manager had removed the fluid formation out of desperation via a timeout, Broken Printer immediately sprang to life after the Cranes lobbed the ball towards center pitch. The printer had quickly broken past the /g/ defense, scoring only his second goal ever, and Stallman was left without a clean sheet, the game now 4-1. Subs would come on for both teams, and /po/ was beginning to gain the momentum they needed, and /po/'s defense, as legendary as it was, started becoming an impenetrable wall now. Then, at 83', X-Acto cut a pass to the Broken Printer who once again broke /g/'s defense, scoring his third goal ever, an easy kick past Stallman, a 4-2 game at this point. However, kekoff abuse would quickly favor /po/, and it would become a broken hat trick for the printer. /po/ were smelling blood and looking desperately for the fourth goal to tie this game up. Unfortunately that shot would never occur as Moneygami was tripped up by a /g/ defender for a foul. The proceeding free kick would not go in, and the game ended 4-3. Cutting Mat would finish with 8 saves, and it was an impressive effort to come this close from a 4-0 blowout early in the second half.

Their next opponent, /trv/, momentarily on the top of the group despite not scoring a single goal, were prepared to play yet another defensive game vs /po/ and squeeze in just one goal to advance themselves to the Round of 16. /po/ on the other hand, wanted the win to move themselves up to the top next to /trv/. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of Moneygami, /trv/'s keeper was able to scoop up and stop every attempt. Conversely, Cutting Mat didn't even need to make an effort on the only shot /trv/ attempted, and the game ended on a nil-nil slurpfest. Getting two draws in two matches left /po/ in third place in the group, and it set up /po/ in a similar position to where they were last Autumn: Beat /jp/.
Coming ever so close to reversing a blowout but coming up short, /po/ were undoubtedly hurt, but they weren't out yet. There were still three games left in the megababby affair, and the second match would be the very next day against /o/, who had been surprisingly crashed by /ck/'s Moliendo Café party. Both teams were trying to gain their first point, and for /po/, a goal would come rather swiftly this time. In just 8 minutes, Cubecraft would find a seam in /o/'s backline and quickly score the first goal of the game. However, THE BEST SPORTS CAR, Miata, would score the equalizer. After that, not much proceeded to happen. Both teams would end up stalled at the first half, the real highlights coming from both the immovable Cutting Mat and former Golden Glove winner Black Ice Tree. In the second half, the subs would come quickly. At 71', a dangerous slide into Miata by Thick Card Stock would issue a straight red card, and the thick defender would be forced to sit out the remainder of this game, as well as /po/'s next match against /bant/. But on the other side of the incident, Miata came down with an affliction known as "really ded". It would be a 10-on-10 football match, and the aggressive trade between the two would help force the game to a 1-1 finish. Amusingly, PES tried looking for a man of the match in this contest, but did not find one. After the draw and also /ck/'s destruction of /bant/, /po/ would be in third behind both /ck/ and /g/, barely ahead of /o/ on goal differential, and the team would move on to their next challenge of showing the sick /bant/ers how to endure paper cuts.

The stage was set for the deciding match of Group D. /vr/ had already claimed their spot in the Round of 16, and it would be up to /po/ to win and join them. This final opponent in the group stage, /jp/, fresh off of a victory over /vr/, held a one-point lead over /po/, forcing the papercrafters to either win and move on, or get sent back to the babbies. Near the beginning of the match, Thick Card Stock would redirect a pass from Paper Plane into the direction of 1,000 Cranes, who would then dive in and shoot the ball past /jp/'s keeper Slut Sanae for a quick 1-0 lead. Not long after, a series of quick, short passes led /jp/'s Autism to score for /jp/, 1-1. A through ball to /jp/'s sage led to an interesting clearance by a hard charging Pepakura, who cleared the ball, only for a laser beam shot by /jp/'s Flanfly to come flying back the other way towards the goal. Luckily, the shot went wide. A backpass to Valley Fold was mishandled, and Get Out of /jp/ made the most of the defense's mistake, running it all the way back and scoring past Pepakura to make the score at halftime 2-1. Another score wouldn't happen until subs were completed, but the /jp/ goals kept coming, first from Autism at 71', and then sage followed up with reverse kickoff abuse at 73'. /po/ were immediately forced into the corner, but a goal from Moneygami at the 78th minute proved to be just a consolation goal in the end, the game ending with a 4-2 loss for /po/. Though /po/ were unable to come up with a win in the Elite level, two points would be enough to prevent them from being any worse than 27th place in the cup, as the team looks to fold more origami cranes and paper aircraft in preparation for their upcoming 10th Babby Cup in Autumn.
Unfortunately, two quick unanswered goals from /bant/ would come down on /po/, thus eliminating them from the Spring Babby Cup. It would only get worse as /ck/, already confirmed to rejoin the elites, drubbed /po/ 4-0. Only /his/ had a worse performance in this Megababby affair overall, and /po/ would drop to a 39th place finish.

The /po/ management have created a Discord to better respond to members of the fanbase. Visit us here.

The lonely tundra that is /po/, a strange place that claims to be a haven for papercrafters and origami folders. Amongst the sparse aggressive population are a critically endangered species that is the Builder. Few and far between they carry out a slow and lonely occupation that the imageboard is named for but rarely performs. Even rarer are Designers, practically extinct, their numbers are far below what is needed for viable breeding. They are clever creatures capable of myriad disguises, and they must conceal themselves particularly while among the common populace. This is not simply for their own privacy, it is predominantly the horrifying fact that should their actual type be discovered the loud vicious portion of the inhabitants, better than half their number, descent violently upon the Designer and dispose of them without mercy. This bizarre self destructive dystopia is carefully avoided by the rational communities that lay beyond the borders. A few incautious outsiders have been known to venture within, but often do not survive and are never heard from again.

/po/ figure that victory in the 2018 4chan Spring Babby Cup will bring the board some much needed traffic and attention, hoping for the return of more Designers to scream at. So they've crafted together a team with the goal of claiming the 2018 4chan Summer Cup, to prove that they can cut it at the Elite level. Recent endeavours have held /po/ back, however, the management will not give up. It is only a matter of time.

History

/po/ History

The One True Rivalry

I logo.png
/i/ - Slow Ass Bowl

There has always been a debate as to who was the slower board, /po/ or /i/? The debate been brought into the 4chan Cup when /i/ was formed by a bunch of pathetic weeaboo hobos who have too much time and grease on their hands. They also constitute the most "friendly" board's one and only rivalry, these suckers are low enough to make an enemy out of /po/. Neither board decided to be faster than the other during the 2016 4chan Spring Babby Cup Qualifiers and their only game was a 3-3 draw. The /po/ team will do all it can to scream at the "designers" of /i/ so that they can sod off to the nearest candy store where they belong, and to prove that mentally unstable papercraft is indeed superior to mentally unstable scribblings and ramblings of a pretentious, homeless twat.

Eat shit, /i/. - The current /po/ manager
