The 2016 4chan Winter Cup will be the eighteenth official 4chan Cup tournament, the fifth iteration of the Winter Cup series, and the first to use Pro Evolution Soccer 2016. It will be played over three weekends in Winter 2016, specifically on February 19–21, 26–28, and March 5 and 6. Teams which advanced to the knockout stage of the 2015 4chan Summer Cup, as well as those which secured promotion from the 2015 4chan Autumn Babby Cup, will compete at the event.

This will be the eleventh Cup under commissioner DrBorisG !!uWmnP2zIyZF, who will be hosting the competition. Having been victorious in the previous Elite Cup, the board of /mlp/ will play host to this tournament.

Competitors

Thirty-two teams are scheduled to participate in this tournament, sixteen of which qualified by means of advancing to the knockout stage of the 2015 4chan Summer Cup, and sixteen by means of advancing from the 2015 4chan Autumn Babby Cup.

This Cup will see the Winter Cup and Elite Cup debut of /out/.

Pots

Teams will be placed in four different pots based on seeding. Seeding is determined by:

1. Finishing position of the top 16 teams from the 2015 4chan Summer Cup in that tournament
2. Finishing position of the top 16 teams from the 2015 4chan Autumn Babby Cup in that tournament

All of the highest-seeded competitors (the top eight finishers from Summer) will be placed in Pot 1, the next-highest in Pot 2, and so on until all four pots contain eight teams.
