In PES terminology, Conditioning, also known as form, refers to the players' form during a match. In PES 2017 and PES 2018 there are five levels of condition, form best to worst:

  • Cond-very good.png Top
  • Cond-good.png Good
  • Cond-okay.png Normal
  • Cond-poor.png Poor
  • Cond-very poor.png Terrible

The current rules allows standard players to have form set to 4, meanwhile all the medal players have 8 which is also the maximum. A better condition should help the players to be more efficient while playing with more accurate shots and passes; a player with a better condition will also consume slightly less stamina than another one with a worse condition.

In the PES menu in the support setting window there's an option which allows to do an automatic lineup by condition.

In official matches the conditions are set to random for both teams; in case of a PES crash, the match starts again with the conditions set to normal for all the players. In some unofficial tournaments conditions might be set equal for both teams, one of the latest examples were the /vg/ League X Friendlies.

According to the PES 2017 documentation one player can change his condition during the game by one level, up or down, depending on his performance on the pitch: for example scoring a goal will give him a boost but on the other hand, the condition decreases when he scores an own goal or makes a foul. This change could happen only if players' emotions are set to ON, although it is not explicitly stated except in the PES 2018 documentation.

Trivia

Usually the players with excellent conditions have great expectations on their shoulders and often end up playing subtly, not surprisingly the conditions are also mentioned in a gametip:

"A purple keeper will always somehow play better than a red keeper"
