Being one of the original sixteen 4chan cup teams, Tv icon.png /tv/ ended up having quite the history in the cup, with unbelievable highs and lows.

Early History

The old /tv/ logo that was used since the 2012 Winter Cup.

During the cup's infancy, /tv/ was a weak team, and one of their most embarrassing losses at the time was a 2-1 loss to /x/, a team which had no medals or skill cards. Even if /tv/ managed to win a match, the team simply did not look convincing enough to have much hype behind them.

The 2012 4chan Summer Cup proved to be a major turning point for /tv/. While the team did get relegated early in the group stage, a new manager named Director stepped up to take over /tv/ and got an inspiring 4-1 victory over /ck/. For once, fans could expect /tv/ to become a winning team since they would not only be facing weaker opposition, but would also put on a great show in the rest of their matches in 2012.

2012 4chan Autumn Babby Cup

The team's preparation friendlies went very well as they won all 3 of their matches by scoring at least 3 goals in each of them.

This momentum carried into their group stage matches as they started the cup with a 3-0 victory over /s/, leaving them to wonder if pedophilia is the secret to their success. As /o/'s fans were thinking that this was their year due to them actually scoring goals, /tv/ rained on their parade in what some might call a clean match due to Jack bringing his vacuum in as a guest commentator. /tv/ would win 3-2 against /o/, with /o/'s goals coming after /tv/ had a 3-0 lead. Though complacency appeared to be an issue, their manager made sure that this was not a problem in their next match as /tv/ won 3-0 against /hr/, which put them on top of their group with 9 points.

In the round of 16, they faced /vp/ in the battle of pedos against furries, which would be decisively won by /tv/ with the final score being 3-1. They would go on to face another board with a notorious fanbase, and this time it would be the most hated of them all: /mlp/. Despite Faust's attempt to undo PoorlilWhiteGuy's efforts in the first half, /tv/ would go on to win 3-1 with Crab Legs and PoorlilWhiteGuy scoring in the second half while /mlp/ was simply unable to respond. There are rumors that the ref was bribed prior to the match as /mlp/'s goal was scored with Faust's arm hitting the ball before going into the goal, but the 4chan Cup Committee did not investigate this.

The next match had /tv/ facing /r9k/ after their dreadfully boring match against /adv/ that was decided on penalty kicks due to both teams being too beta to even try to score. Many were expecting /r9k/ to perform poorly as they were tired from how long their previous match went, but much to everyone's surprise, they defeated /tv/ decisively in a 4-2 victory with /r9k/'s last 2 goals coming in the last minutes of the match as the score was 2-2.

Despite suffering such a crushing defeat, /tv/ was able to send the fans off happily as they won 3-1 in the third place play-off against /vg/. PoorlilWhiteGuy ended up being the 2nd top goalscorer of the tournament with 10 goals. After such a great showing in the babby cup, the team looks on to the future with great expectations for their 2013 Winder Cup campaign.

Goals of the Cup

2013 4chan Winter Cup

Out of the top 4 teams in the previous babby cup, only one of them avoided relegation, and /tv/ was sadly not that team. Group D drew /tv/ together with familiar competition: /wg/, /trv/, and /y/. All of these teams were in the last babby cup with /tv/, and despite high expectations, /tv/ disappointed in their first match. /trv/ took advantage of their better conditioning with a powerful 4-1 win. Real Human Being got /tv/ a goal while PoorlilWhiteGuy unfortunately lived up to his name.

The loss sparked a hype video, but hopes mean nothing in a game of numbers, and devastation did not end there. /wg/ had almost 3 times the shots that /tv/ did in the next match, but they could only score twice. Real Human Being scored what would only be a consolation goal in a 2-1 loss for /tv/. Due to how the points were spread out after /trv/'s loss to /wg/, /tv/ could only advance with if they won against /y/ by 5 goals. /y/ played very defensively and only had one shot that was off target in the whole match. /tv/ tried their very best, but it was not simply enough as the match ended in a 0-0 draw that relegated /tv/. Real Human Being scored /tv/'s two goals in the cup and the team's final ranking was 26th place. Director would retire from management after this poor performance.

2013 4chan Spring Babby Cup

/tv/'s star players soak in the fact that they suffered one of the worst losses ever in a cup final.

There weren't many signs of recovery for /tv/ in the Spring Babby Cup friendlies this year. Real Human Being continued to be the only player living up to the hype, scoring twice in a 2-2 draw against /lit/, and once in a 5-1 loss to /an/. SB stepped up to take over /tv/ around this time.

In the actual cup, /gif/ and /tv/ had the honor of being in the opening match of the Spring Babby Cup, but once again, there were no signs of recovery. Their dull 0-0 draw did nothing to hype up the viewers. Next, /tv/ finally showed shades of their famed Autumn 2012 run against the mighty >/vp/ in a 3-0 win with a Real Human Hat-trick. This would end up being the only win they needed to qualify for the Summer Cup. After a 2-1 loss to /po/, /tv/ finished the group with 4 points in second place of Group A, meaning the team had to face /3/ in the round of 16.

Real Human Being proved to be a real hero once again with another hat-trick. This time, it wasn't enough to put /3/ away as they scored 3 goals of their own. /tv/ would go on to win the penalty shoot-out that followed with Poorlilwhiteguy scoring the final shot. The next opponent would be an up-and-coming /lit/. Though some expected /tv/'s fatigue from their last game to affect them, it did not matter in this match as Real Human Being once again scored a heroic goal in a 1-0 win. The team seemed to have fully recovered from their awful form from the Winter Cup. In the semifinal game against /soc/, /tv/ once again overcame the odds with Poorlilwhiteguy finally scoring his first goal in 2013 and Real Human Being scoring the winner at the last second in a thrilling 2-1 win. However, the finals would bring much more anal devastation than anyone could have predicted.

/mlp/ easily won 4-0 against an exhausted /tv/ team. Due to people remembering that their manager at the time had a pony's name, many of them were furious at the loss with some fans even claiming the match was rigged in /mlp/'s favor. Though SB was willing to step down and let someone else manage the team, no one stepped up, since SB had gotten the best results for /tv/ up until the disastrous final. Little did anyone know that the 2013 4chan Summer Cup would be the last non-babby cup /tv/ would play in two whole years.

2013 4chan Summer Cup

Before the cup, /tv/ had a 2-1 win against /hr/, but a point of concern was the 5-2 loss to /tg/ which showed that /tv/'s defense needed serious improvement if they wanted to avoid relegation. The team never did improve and sadly, /tv/ had one of the worst showings in their 4chan cup history. /po/ would demolish /tv/ 5-0, with the score being 4-0 at half time. /a/ would also win 5-0 against /tv/. The new dynamic duo of Real Human Being and For You did almost nothing in two whole matches, and with that, /tv/ was already relegated. Since there was nothing but pride at stake for /tv/ in the next match, the team had a good performance against /h/, but still lost 3-2. At the second half, >Boris made a substitution for /tv/ that was supposed to be for /h/. Knowing he would be sacked anyways, SB just let this slide.

2013 4chan Autumn Babby Cup

Another new manager named FwokinMwok had come in to try and help out during another tough period for the team, but once again, /tv/ was eliminated after losing the first two matches in the group stage. This time, it happened in a more heartbreaking fashion as the last minute goal from Taylor Swift against /tv/ sealed their fate. Then, as if they were out to follow a tradition, /tv/ won 4-0 against /s/. Cup host DrBorisG lost his mind at this result: it was very unlikely for /tv/ to win like this. So unlikely that Boris did not create a back-up save file in case it happened.

The reason this was necessary was because /tv/'s 4-0 win made it so /s/ and /gif/'s stats in the group stage were all the same: 4 points, 8 goals for, 9 goals against, with a -1 goal difference. >PES would choose to make /gif/ go through the group stage just because their name comes earlier in the alphabet than /s/, a situation that would have been avoided if /tv/ hadn't gotten the unexpected 4-0 win.

"Fuck you, /tv/!"
DrBorisG

There's more to this: because /tv/ won 4-0 and Boris' decision to not make that back-up save, the match had to be replayed with /tv/ only scoring 3. The 4-0 win still stood as the official result, and /s/ went through the group stage as they had defeated /gif/ earlier on (this head-to-head tiebreaker was more logical than what PES had planned, which became known as alphabet abuse). So, while /tv/ caused one of the more hilarious blunders in cup history, they still had to settle for 6 months of pain while waiting for the next Babby Cup.

2014 - Babby Cup Mediocrity

Accurate depiction of /tv/'s run during Autumn 2014.

Along with the new 5-team group setup in the 2014 4chan Spring Babby Cup, /tv/ also had to hope they adapted to PES 2014 well enough. Cemedygeld was managing the team for this year, and at first, it seemed like /tv/ adapted just fine to the new PES 2014 era with a 3-1 win over /vr/, but the team had to scratch and claw at the opposition to get 1-1 and 3-3 draws against /hr/ and /s4s/ respectively. As /tv/'s final match against /o/ came closer, /o/'s manager decided to boycott the match due to some anger directed at Gracen, who was hosting the majority of the group stage. Despite being managerless, /o/ shockingly won against /tv/, which kept /tv/ down in the babbies for another season.

For the Summer Friendlies, /tv/ used a roster completely made up of Baneposting players. The fun was over in Autumn, and /tv/ had to hope they sorted themselves out on the pitch. In their 2014 4chan Autumn Babby Cup match with /s/, /tv/'s defense was poor and spilled some spaghetti at the beginning with an own goal. In contrast, the offense showed some potential, and the match ended as a 3-3 draw. From then on, /tv/'s form took a turn for the worse and they proceeded to score no more goals in the remaining three matches against /v/, /adv/ and /lit/. The 3-0 loss to /adv/ already put /tv/ in a tough situation, and the 0-0 draw against /lit/ sealed /tv/'s fate, leaving them in the babbies for yet another season.

2015 - Return to form

/tv/ celebrating their first cup win.

After spending all of 2014 in the Babbies, /tv/ was determined to get the hell out in any way possible. This led to more offensive tactics at the beginning of the 2015 4chan Spring Babby Cup, which got /tv/ started with a 6-3 loss to /an/. All hope was not lost despite a tough loss like that.

Real Human Being and Brendan Fraser put /v/ through hell to get /tv/ bouncing back up the group table with a 6-1 victory. Following such energetic displays, /tv/ slowed down quite a bit, but managed to qualify for the Summer Cup following a 0-0 draw with /3/ and a 1-0 win against /gd/. The latter match was very dramatic, with an early red card for /tv/ and /gd/ hitting the post near the end of the match. Following that hollywood finish to their group stage matches, /tv/ was drawn to face /fit/ in the round of 16. Real Human Being proved to be a real hero against the /fit/izens in a 2-1 win for /tv/. However, with Real Human Being having lead the team as its captain for years now, it was time for more fresh blood to lead /tv/ to glory.

/m/ was going all out with their attacks in the quarterfinal match against /tv/, but patience proved to be a great virtue as /tv/ got a 2-1 win with FOR YOU leading his team to a comeback victory. The semifinals ended up being slow for /tv/, but once again, through patience, /tv/ got a win against /cgl/ in extra time through a lone goal by Brendan Fraser. Being one of only two teams to beat this managerless /cgl/ squad, /tv/ on this result got through to the gold medal match of the cup for the first time since the 2013 4chan Spring Babby Cup. The final ended up being what some would call the Capeshit Bowl: /tv/ vs /co/. In a tense match that was even all the way, /tv/ finally won a cup after penalty kicks, with Capeshit scoring the winner.

2015 4chan Summer Cup

FOR YOU scoring the first goal vs /e/.

Having won the Spring Babby Cup in a nerve-wracking fashion, the team looked onwards to their first elite cup in two years with great anticipation. With only a few roster changes the core of the squad was kept intact, and preparations for the 2015 4chan Summer Cup came along well.

The opening match did not start out in a promising fashion though, as John Cena scored a goal in the tenth minute, giving /asp/ the early 1-0 lead. It wasn't until the second half that /tv/ were to respond, and in a rather unexpected turn of events it was the midfielder Mr. Thorax that would score the first goal for the team on a blooter rebound from a corner kick in the 60th minute. This awoke the rest of the team, and the long-time captain Real Human Being put the game away with two goals of his own, making the final score 1-3.

The rest of the group stage fully went /tv/'s way, as /vp/ was defeated 4-0 with a hattrick from FOR YOU, which was followed by a 4-1 win over /e/. This put /tv/ on top of all teams after the group stage, with 3 straight wins and 11 goals scored. Using the current cup system, the Round of 16 matchups were then decided in a draw, where /tv/'s opponent ended up being /soc/. Seeing as this was /tv/'s first elite knockout match in cup history, it could not have started better as Real Human Being executed a beautiful freekick goal in the third minute. Being down 2-0 after the first half, /soc/ managed to rebound and score two goals of their own, taking the match to extra time. At this time, however, Brendan Fraser took it upon himself to end the match, and he did so by scoring twice in extra time, making the final result 4-2 in favor of /tv/.

In the quarterfinal match awaited /g/, who previously had beaten the reigning champions /tg/ in their Round of 16 match. /tv/ tried running a 3-4-3 formation of their own to counter the one used by /g/, which turned out to be a mistake as /g/ quickly got the upper hand in the match. /tv/ tried changing up the game in the second half, but it was not to be, and Stallman lead his team to a 4-1 win, making this the end for /tv/'s summer cup run. /g/ would later go all the way to the final match, only to be beaten by /mlp/, while /tv/ ended up in 8th place in the final cup rankings.

2016 4chan Winter Cup

The group stage draw for the 2016 Winter Cup placed /tv/ in Group E. Their first opponent was /h/, a team that didn't even let /tv/ get an honorable exit from the 2013 4chan Summer Cup. This time, /tv/ got revenge with a solid performance in a 3-1 win. Next, /tv/ dominated /vr/ in a 5-1 win, but the fun more or less ended here for the team. The final match of the group was against /wsg/, and /tv/ got their shots in, but the result ended up being a surprising 2-1 win for /wsg/. Despite this, /tv/ topped the group and faced /fit/ in the Round of 16. Here, the big guys were up against a team who was too big even for them, with /fit/ comfortably coming out on top with a 2-0 win. Thus /tv/ was eliminated from the tournament in a defeat against the eventual cup winners.

2016 Summer Cup

The Big Guys were back for another major cup, and the group stage got them tough opponents like the rising /m/, and /s4s/. As luck would have it, even /biz/ ended up being a very challenging team for /tv/. /biz/ had taken a 2-0 lead against /tv/, but through a heroic comeback started by Brendan Fraser, /tv/ ended up winning 3-2. In the next match, /tv/ went down 2-0 against /s4s/, and couldn't manage to get a comeback victory again. For You's goal ended up being just a consolation goal in a 2-1 loss. With these results, /tv/ was in a risky position in the group G standings. Another win would have kept them safe, but against /m/ in their recent form, that was out of the question. /tv/ lost 2-1 to /m/ in the match that followed, and this sent the fa/tv/irgins back to the babbies.

2016 Autumn Babby Cup

/tv/ fucked /g/ and /t/'s shit up in the group stage, scoring 5 against both of them. /mu/ was the only real challenge to be found in that group, and even then, the fa/tv/rigins won 1-0. Everything was going well for the big guys at the time, and in the round of 16, they had to face a revived /toy/ side. It was a tough match, but /tv/ came out on top with a 4-2 win where the young Pedro scored his first cup goal. This cup would end on something of a sour note for /tv/, as they would end up being eliminated by the infamous >/p/ in the quarterfinals.
