2018 4chan Spring Babby Cup
2018 4chan Summer Cup

The 2018 4chan Spring Babby Cup was the twenty-seventh official 4chan Cup tournament and the seventh iteration of the Spring Babby Cup series. The tournament featured a mixture of teams that were relegated from the 2018 4chan Winter Cup, teams that failed to qualify from the 2017 4chan Autumn Babby Cup, and teams from the 2018 4chan Spring Babby Cup Qualifiers. Due to winning the previous Babby, /r9k/ hosted this tournament.

This tournament saw the return of the megababby format, and ended with a 4–2 victory for /e/ in the final, beating out /soc/ to take home their first winner's trophy. /vg/ finished in third place, winning 4–0 against /fit/.

Competitors

Forty teams competed at this tournament; sixteen of the teams qualified by means of relegation from the 2018 4chan Winter Cup, sixteen qualified by failing to advance from the 2017 4chan Autumn Babby Cup, three qualified despite failing to advance from the 2017 4chan Autumn Babby Cup Qualifiers, two were revived after a year-long absence, and three qualified from the 2018 4chan Spring Babby Cup Qualifiers.

This cup was the debut Spring Babby Cup for /asp/ and the debut 4chan Cup (proper) for /bant/.

Pots

The group stage draw occured on April 29th.

Teams were placed in four different pots based on seeding. Seeding was determined by:

  1. The finishing position of the 16 teams relegated from the 2018 4chan Winter Cup in that tournament.
  2. The finishing position of the teams who placed third in their 2017 4chan Autumn Babby Cup groups in that tournament.
  3. The finishing position of the teams who qualified by advancing from the 2018 4chan Spring Babby Cup Qualifiers.

All of the highest-seeded competitors (the top eight relegated from Winter) were placed in Pot 1; the next-highest in Pot 2, and so on until all four pots contained eight teams.
