/m/ Match History
/m/ is one of the most successful teams in the history of the 4chan Cup. Their exploits, and occasional blunders, are too big to fit on a single page.
2012 4chan Babby Cup
Round 1 - Group C
23 March 2012, ??? UTC |
Alteisen 23' Getter Robo 44' |
88' TITS OR GTFO
|
/m/ opened their Babby Cup campaign with a convincing 2-1 win over /soc/. Despite a painful early missed chance from Kamen Rider, Alteisen led by example, putting his side up 1-0. After a dominating patch of play, the /m/en followed up just before half-time with Getter Robo finishing a perfect cross to extend the lead.
The second half was filled with chances, but Gundam was uncharacteristically unable to capitalize on them. With a win seeming out of their reach, TITS OR GTFO did manage a late goal for /soc/ - but it was too little, too late.
24 March 2012, ??? UTC |
Alteisen 63' Gundam RX-78-2 67' |
45' >Argentina >White
|
Despite concerns at the start of the game over Gundam's fitness to play, he was cleared to do so. However, as he continued to squander chances, the wisdom of this looked questionable. Further doubts were raised in the /m/ camp after /int/ took the lead just before half-time through >ARGENTINA >WHITE. However, again, Alteisen lifted and showed his team how it was done to level the scores. Inspired, the whole team lifted, and Gundam was finally able to put a goal on the board shortly after, giving /m/ a lead they would maintain for the rest of the match. This heartening comeback victory secured /m/'s place at the top of Group C, and their entry into the Summer Cup.

Link 54' DELETE YOUR MISSFIRES 79' |
29' Alteisen 76' Gundam RX-78-2
|
Having already secured their place in the next round, /m/ fielded an under-strengthened side against /y/, with Kamen Rider, Getter Robo, GaoGaiGar, Eva-01, and other members of their usual starting squad being given the game off. Regardless, /m/ found the lead early with Alteisen once again showing his irreplaceable value to the team. When /y/ struck back through Link early in the second half, it fell to Gundam to once again put /m/ in front - despite him having been repeatedly and relentlessly fouled by the /y/ defence. With possible signs of a minor injury, him and Alteisen were taken off the pitch immediately with /m/ in the lead, rather than risk something more permanent happening to them. However, /m/ was made to pay for this with another equaliser to /y/ through DELETE YOUR MISSFIRES shortly thereafter. The game ended like that, in a 2-all draw - giving /y/ an early trip home, and meaning /m/ finished atop Group C, setting up a dramatic and highly anticipated knockout clash with /pol/.

4', 21' Gundam RX-78-2 29', 42', 82' Alteisen
|
After a relatively poor performance during the Group stage, Gundam found his stride in the first round of the knockout rounds, fired up for what many considered to be the defining match of the Spring Babby Cup. Post-Bright-slap Amuro brought /m/ to an early lead that they would refuse to relinquish for the rest of the match, Shinji finally deciding to not run away and using his AT Fields to block every ball shot in the goal's direction.
Semi-finals
25 March 2012, ??? UTC |
Melon Fuck 18', 77' XXXX Corruptions 35' |
5', 11', 70' Gundam RX-78-2
|
Following on from their annihilation of /pol/, /m/ went into a quick two-goal lead against the Hentai/Alternative side thanks to Gundam. With Melon Fuck pulling one back for the /d/ team, it looked as if /m/ were going to be facing a tricky game. However, a long cross from Getter Robo in the 35th minute was bundled into the net by the /d/ center back XXXX Corruptions, giving /m/ a strong 3-1 lead at halftime. Amuro then added a fourth, with Melon Fuck grabbing a consolation for /d/ 13 minutes from the end of the game.
Final
31 March 2012, ??? UTC |
Maya 31' 3DS MAX 38' |
5', 71', 85' Gundam RX-78-2 17' Alteisen
|
When questioned about their victory in the final, none of the personnel from /m/ could seem to recall what happened, other than that they won. Copious amounts of empty alcohol bottles suggested a possible cause for this.
Aftermath
- /a/ 1-2 /m/
After withstanding an onslaught of attacks from /a/, /m/ still managed to win the game.
- /gb/ 12-2 /m/
GermanBro's team made up of RIGGED players completely thrashed /m/.
4chan Summer Cup
Round 1 - Group B
13 July 2012, 23:50 UTC |
Doompaul 45+1' Stormfront 81' |
7' Kamen Rider 25', 74', 90' Gundam RX-78-2 59' Alteisen
|
/m/ hit the ground running in their first match of the 2012 Summer Cup with an almost instantaneous goal from Kamen Rider, U.S. Veto fumbling the ball right off of his hands and into the net. /pol/ bit back soon after with a heightened offense, though found it lacking as /m/ broke through their formation yet again, a pass forward from Alphonse to Gundam allowing /m/'s star player to juke right past Veto and lob the ball right into the net for an easy goal. Possession would shift wildly for the remainder of the half until the very end after a corner kick to Doompaul netted /pol/ their first goal of the tournament. A substitution for both sides and a change in tactics for /pol/ saw the team hoping for a comeback in the second half, but found it lacking as Alteisen quickly extended the lead to 3-1. /pol/ and /m/ would continue battling for possession with several attempted shots on both sides until Gundam followed up with yet another goal, extending /m/'s lead to 4-1 and leaving /pol/'s hopes for a victory against /m/ all but dead in the water. Stormfront would score a second goal for /pol/ off of a free kick toward the end of the match, but was denied any further attempts at retribution as Shinji refused a 3rd Impact. Their victory all but assured, Gundam decided to net yet another goal to even the score out to a neat five, ending /m/'s initial battle of the 2012 Summer Cup. Quoth the Germanbro, "It's over," and sayeth Ken, "I don't think it ever began."
14 July 2012, 23:50 UTC |
Cowboy Bebop 18', 43', 45+1' Yamakan 78' |
21', 24' Gundam RX-78-2 76' Alteisen
|
/m/'s second match of the Summer Cup against their long time oppressors, /a/, did not go nearly so well as the team would have hoped. Bebop started with a solid goal eighteen minutes into the half, disheartening many /m/en, only for that fighting spirit to soar once again as Gundam struck right back with no one but two successive goals, bringing the total up 2-1 in /m/'s favor. On edge but arrogant as usual, things were looking up for our heroes at the end of the second half, until once again two successive goals struck, one after another, Cowboy Bebop firing with ease straight through Shinji's AT Fields. Shaken but undeterred, /m/ continued their fight, struggling against /a/ with several missed chances at goals for both sides up until the late game, Alteisen weaving through /a/'s defense and shooting straight past Accelerator for the equalizer. All was set to secure a solid 3-3 draw between these two super powers until Yamakan stepped up and saved anime, lobbing yet another goal right through an unsuspecting Shinji and running the timer down until their guaranteed victory, Gundam and Alteisen's last minute desperation shots doing little to bypass Accelerator's vectors.
15 July 2012, 23:50 UTC |
Gundam RX-78-2 14', 60' Ginguiser 70' Alteisen 83', 87' |
|
Faced with a do-or-die situation against /g/ with the rest of the team down on themselves for their first ever competitive loss, it was Alteisen and Shinji of all people whose hot-blooded spirits pumped up the team for their second victory, guaranteeing them a spot in the knockout rounds. A rather blue Gundam assured the crowd that victory was his Destiny, scoring rather quickly and reassuring GoldTiger and the rest of /m/ that they would not go quietly into the night. A hard fought game with numerous shots blocked by the post saw a rather uninteresting first half otherwise, the game fully picking up steam after the half with Gundam renewing his vigor and sliding yet another ball right into the net. /g/'s manager, panicking at the prospect of a loss, attempted to mimic /pol/'s patented Blitzkrieg, moving literally everybody up the field, strikers to the goal post, defenders to mid-field. Unfortunately, lacking /pol/'s combat prowess, this strategy failed as Ginguiser, not at all known to be one of /m/'s star players, nonetheless managed a shot through the keeper's defenses for his very first goal of the tournament. The game only continued to get worse for /g/ from there as Alteisen stepped up to have some fun as well, scoring not once but twice and diving head first into a cross pass in the 87th minute for a hilarious cap to this assertion of do/m/inance.
Round 2 - Quarterfinals
21 July 2012, 23:00 UTC |
Gundam RX-78-2 59', 71' | 25' Creed
|
/m/ entered the quarter finals with high spirits, agreeing with their mechanical brothers of /tg/ that no matter who lost the match, giant robots won, and that no hard feelings should be had regardless of the outcome. The match started with the /m/ team in relatively high spirits, keeping high possession of the ball throughout the first half, only conceding a goal to Creed after a botched pass form Ultraman. Gundam and Alteisen both missed several chances in the first half, Gundam's shots especially finding themselves nowhere near the net. After the half, it was discovered that Sayla had once again snuck into the Gundam, and once replaced with Amuro, fought back with a vengeance. Not ten minutes after the half Gundam landed a goal straight past the keeper from several meters outside of the penalty box. /m/ did nothing but keep on the pressure from then on, a foul on Alteisen in the 71st minute allowing Gundam yet another blooter from outside of the penalty box, cementing the final score between these two power houses. /tg/ made several last minute substitutions, including an incredibly unhappy Crazy Hassan, and would nearly make a comeback in the final minutes of the match, but a stronger /m/ defense than usual combined with a last minute save by Shinji ensured /m/ a position in the Summer Cup semis.
Round 3 - Semi-Finals
21 July 2012, 01:30 UTC |
Gundam RX-78-2 54' Alteisen 62' |
12', 64', 78', 88' Putin 45' Yuropoor
|
The semi-final matchup between /m/ and /int/ saw Putin grabbing an early lead for /int/ in the twelfth minute. As before, the game would remain relatively stable until the half with /int/ keeping the majority of the possession and constantly pressuring /m/'s defense. As before, Gundam stepped up immediately after the half, stellar passing through and around /int/'s defense comfortably putting /m/ up 2-1 against their old Babby Cup opponents, Alteisen following up and leaving /m/ with what would seem like a definitive lead, 3-1. Putin, unamused, struck right back, firing right through /m/'s defense into the goal, Shinji simply unable to prevent Second Impact. Possession shifted wildly until the 78th minute, yet another goal from Putin tying the game up 3-3. The following minutes gave the very probably impression that this would be the knockout round's first game to go into extra time, however Putin simply did not have that sort of time to waste, instead breaking away from the pack and winning handily in a 1 on 1 match against EVA-01. /m/ refused a rush at the end, and wasted just enough time to solidify the score, /int/ 4, /m/ 3, ending /m/'s ambitions for a Summer Cup victory.
Round 4 - Third Place Match
21 July 2012, ??? UTC |
Gundam RX-78-2 14' Alteisen 50', 65', 77' |
|
Saddened by their lost chance at the gold however lifted by the ever-firey spirits of the /m/ fan-base, GoldTiger and the rest of the team sought to go out with a bang in their final match of the Summer Cup. Shinji, having broken down screaming at the second impact against /m/'s otherwise perfect record, opted to wait in the locker room and allowing newcomer the Iron Giant to take up the mantle of goalkeeper in his stead. Despite /toy/'s incredible offense, this Diesel powered behemoth managed to stop every ball on target for the entire match, cementing himself in the hearts of /m/en everywhere. Meanwhile, though /toy/ managed the lion's share of the possession, the few times /m/'s offense found themselves in a position to score they without fail played perfectly, Alteisen managing his first hat trick of the tournament and Gundam seemingly finding himself satisfied with his eleven goals, falling just one short of Putin and apparently willingly giving up his shot at sharing it in the final minutes, passing the ball to a /toy/ defender despite being alone in the penalty box. Their fighting spirits dampened but never extinguished, /m/ found themselves as third place in the Summer Cup and already looking onward to Winter's glory.

Round 1 - Group E
17 August 2013, 17:30 UTC |
Alteisen Riese 42' |
|
/m/ entered the Summer Cup with a lot hanging over their heads. GoldTiger had retired during the offseason, leaving the management of /m/ to the relatively inexperienced /m/ Council, managers and fans alike criticized /m/'s new tactics and a general feeling of being the laughing stock of the cup. /m/ looked to get back on track with a win over /g/ who they shut out a year earlier. For most of the first half both sides traded possession of the ball with Iron Giant stopping any advances /g/ made on the goal. /m/ would choke away chances at the goal until Alteisen Riese took a slow rolling shot that bounced off the post and past Stallman for /m/'s first goal of the tournament. /g/ would up their offense but Iron Giant continued to deny any chances. /m/ walked away with a slim, lucky win but they sat atop the group.
23 August 2013, 17:00 UTC |
18' Shin Getter Robo 57' RX-93 "Nu" Gundam
|
After escaping /g/, /m/ faced off win former champs /sp/. The /sp/artans showed their power previously with a 6 goal draw with /jp/ and manager Loli promised to do to /m/ what /adv/ did. The /m/ management confused everyone in attendance by benching the Iron Giant in favor of Eva-01 who hasn't started for the team in over 10 months. As the whistle blew to start the game /sp/ found themselves being countered by /m/ at every chance. Lelbron and Messi both felt invincible enough to try and take shots for themselves, missing opportunities for easy goals from other players. Meanwhile /m/ began to find their rhythm which allowed Shin Getter Robo to strike first off a pass from Nu Gundam. /m/ would hold their lead into halftime where they made some tactic changes. /sp/ found it even harder to score on /m/ with their new formation in place. Shin Getter would return his first half favor by getting a pass to Nu Gundam allowing him to score. /m/ would sub on some new midfielders to lock down /sp/ and allowed /m/ to leave with the victory and became the second team to qualify for the Winter Cup.

With 6 points and a spot in the knockouts /m/ headed into the final match against /jp/ with a goal. Prior to the cup /jp/ manager Doogie bet that if /m/ topped the group with 9 points then he will retire. /m/ made some more questionable changes before the match; Gipsy Danger, the /m/ voted player taking the spot of Master Asia, was given the nod to start over Iron Giant. The mechs stormed out and had complete domination in the first half over /jp/. Nu Gundam proved he wasn't for show by score in the 16th minute and again only 2 minutes later, tying Madoka Titus for the fastest brace on record. Before halftime Nu Gundam would strike one more time to give him the Hat Trick and a commanding 3-0 lead into the half. /m/ would continue out the gate strong in the second half as Mazinkaiser struck for /m/'s fourth goal of the match. After that the team settled down and began to lock down /jp/. It worked until /jp/ would strike on an Autism header following a corner kick. /m/ management made more questionable changes after subbing off Gipsy in favor of Eva-01 but made a sensible tactic change by using the same lockdown tactic with /sp/. /jp/ would still break through on a Sage header but it was too little too late as /m/ topped the group with 9 points.

Coming off a stunning loss to /an/, /m/ tried to get back in form but even before the game started problems had already arisen. Master Asia, who was projected to start the game against the /co/mrades was mysteriously benched and Shinji was given the start. Early in the first half, Alteisen put his thrust kick to good use by rocketing goal past /co/'s keeper from way outside the penalty area to try to jumpstart /m/'s sluggish offense. /co/ would respond following a score by Tucker. Both teams went tied into the second half but Tucker once again raised the /co/mrades' spirits by putting his team ahead only 6 minutes into the half. Things looked bleak until Alteisen stepped up again and scoring the equalizing goal. /co/ would attempt to break the tie but could not muster up enough power to get the ball past Shinji again as time expired. The game ended in a draw and /m/ headed into the Arrogance Derby match with /sp/ winless.

After disappointing seasons, both /m/ and /sp/ headed into the "Arrogance Derby" looking for a win to end their season on. As the whistle blew for the start of the match the /sp/artans gained the control and maintained it for the entire first half. However /sp/ relied too heavily on Messi and Torres to score with both amassing 9 shots with only 2 on target. In the meantime /m/ managed to score a goal in the final seconds of the half thanks to Getter Robo. The second half /m/'s unusually quiet offense returned to form and took over possession in the process of scoring a wild goal on a Rider Kick. /sp/ would continue to struggle as time expired. /m/ celebrated its victory over the Summer Cup Champions while the /sp/artans were left questioning their manager.

To kick off 2014, /m/ began it's friendly season by facing Rival and Autumn Babby Champions, /toy/. Both sides started off slow with a lot of possession changes in the midfield but /toy/ managed to find some breaks to the goal only to be denied by Iron Giant. After an uneventful first half, /toy/ finally struck on a Matty goal. /m/ would try to retaliate but the /toy/ defense choked out all possible attempts. 2014 would start off with a sloppy loss as /toy/ continues on its Autumn momentum.

After a terrible start, /m/ headed into it's second match against a /v/ team that also struggled in its first game. /v/ would start fast with Gaben making a beeline to the goal before being stopped short. /m/'s defense, led by newcomer Ideon, would step up and begin shutting down any /v/ offensive chances. Mazinkaiser would pick up /m/'s first goal of 2014 only 10 minutes in. The offense would be jump-started by Mazinkaiser and 11 minutes later Shin Getter faked out the /v/ defense allowing Nu Gundam to score. From there the team entered "Park the Bus" mode and picked up their first win in the New Year.
