The 2017 4chan Winter Cup will be the twenty-second official 4chan Cup tournament and the sixth iteration of the Winter Cup series. The tournament will be played on dates to be decided in the Winter of 2017. Teams which advanced to the knockout stage of the 2016 4chan Summer Cup, as well those which secure promotion from the 2016 4chan Autumn Babby Cup will compete at the event.
Due to their victory in the 2016 4chan Summer Cup, /mlp/ will be the host of this tournament.
Competitors
Thirty-two teams are scheduled to compete at this tournament, sixteen of the teams qualified by means of advancing to the knockout stage of the 2016 4chan Summer Cup, while the other sixteen teams will qualify by advancing from the 2016 4chan Autumn Babby Cup.
This cup will be the Winter Cup debut of /p/ and /w/.

Pots
Teams are placed in four different pots based on seeding. Seeding is determined by:
- Finishing position of the top 16 teams from the 2016 4chan Summer Cup in that tournament
- Finishing position of the top 16 teams from the 2016 4chan Autumn Babby Cup in that tournament
- Amount of money donated to the members of the 4chan Cup Committee
All of the highest-seeded competitors (the top seven finishers from Summer) and our grand sponsers /vip/ are placed in Pot 1, the next-highest in Pot 2, and so on until all four pots contain eight teams.
