Discussion on tournament format

Consider the numbers.

  • Option A. 8 groups of 5 teams: 10 games per group. Total 80 group stage games.
  • Option B. 10 groups of 4 teams: 6 games per group. Total 60 group stage games.
  • Option C. Something else.

For the option B, if a 16-team, tournament bracket will still be used after group stage; then, the 10 group winners would advance. Then a sub-table can be used to determine the top six among the 2nd place teams. Simply enough, you can determine the 16 qualifers for the Summer Cup in this fashion. This suggestion is made, to reduce the workload in running the Spring Babbys. Desu (talk) 12:31, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Dash autism

In a lot of our tournament articles (since Summer 13), people have been using the formatting "1 — 1" for scores. I feel this looks somewhat unaesthetic and takes up too much space. I think we should use "1–1". This is the formatting used by Wikipedia, and recommended by style manuals such as Chicago Manual of Style. FIFA uses the format "1:1", but that looks pretty shit. MLA uses the format "1-1" (with a hyphen), but MLA doesn't really acknowledge the existence of the en dash. No style guide or media source I can find uses em dashes (like we currently do). Does anyone disagree or care at all? This is seriously hurting my autism. --Autocrat (talk) 20:26, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

Alright, if nobody cares I'll just be bold and change the formatting to the more widely used variant. Tomorrow or something. --Autocrat (talk) 11:03, 5 April 2014 (UTC)
It really doesn't matter to me, I'll use whatever you guys decide. --Powdinet (talk) 12:08, 5 April 2014 (UTC)
