/a/, the winners of the inaugural 2011 4chan Summer Cup, are a mainstay of the 4chan Cup theater and have a loyal following.
Despite a disappointing 2012 4chan Winter Cup, /a/ was in the hunt for glory at the 2012 4chan Summer Cup. Drawn in Group 2 with /m/, /pol/ and /g/, /a/ sought to defend their Summer Cup title as the third-placed side in the rankings. Unfortunately, a brutal loss to /pol/ kept them out of the second round.
The 2013 4chan Winter Cup saw /a/ looking to reaffirm their place as a top side despite drawing what was widely considered the toughest group of the tournament. Rising to the challenge, /a/ swept the group with wins over /mlp/, /m/, and /adv/ to earn their spot in the knockouts. A comeback win over /hm/ propelled them to the final 8, but a poor performance against /cm/ eliminated them.
/a/ took the field in the 2013 4chan Summer Cup with new management but continued its run of success. A cagey draw with /h/ was followed by successive 5-0 demolitions of /tv/ and /po/, launching /a/ to another group-topping performance. In the knockouts, /a/ handled /x/ 3-0 before falling again in the quarterfinals to eventual champion /wg/.
/a/'s initial performance 2014 4chan Winter Cup was unexceptional, with 1-1 ties against /cgl/ and /cm/ in spite of a 4-2 victory over /adv/. However, center fielder Bert is a Titan's second-half goals against /adv/ and /cm/ combined with the specter of an oncoming rematch with old rivals /sp/ to power /a/ into the knockout rounds where Bert overcame his typically mediocre first-half performance to eke out a goal, and a win, over /sp/ in the second half. The hype train continued to accelerate into the quarter finals, where Bert and longtime veteran Cowboy Bebop overcame a 0-2 trail in the last minutes of the first half before scoring two goals each in the second half, ending in a 4-3 victory despite an inspiring performance by /toy/'s center fielder Woody. /a/'s victory fervor carried it through a hard-fought battle that saw an eleventh-hour goal by Bert at 88 minutes matched by /mlp/'s horsefucker mere seconds before the end of the game. Fortunately for the team, a second goal by Bert secured both /a/'s place in the finals and its dignity. Unfortunately, the hype train would grind to a halt at the finals, where /a/ was forced onto the defensive by /trv/. Despite a few breakouts, /a/'s forwards was incapable of matching Sven Scandiboo's early first-half goal, and an 84th minute goal by Sex Tourist sealed their fates as the runner-ups.

Rivalries
/a/ vs /sp/ - The /a/sp/ie Derby
/a/ and /sp/ have never gotten along. Shots are fired among these boards every now and then, with the most notable example being /sp/'s ONII-CHAN~~ video. However, 2011 was the year this feud reached new heights. On top of Japan winning the Women's World Cup against the USA in the final that year and /a/ rubbing it in on /sp/'s sticky thread for said match, /a/ would also eliminate /sp/ from the first 4chan World Cup after a memorable come back. At the last minute of injury time, /a/ would complete a 2 goal comeback to force the match to go to extra time with the score being 3-3. In the end, /a/ eliminated /sp/ via penalty kicks and would go on to become the first champions of the 4chan cup after beating /ck/ easily. /a/ and /sp/ met again in a highly-anticipated (and highly-shitposted) rematch during the Round of 16 of the 2014 Winter Cup. The two teams remained neck and neck until the second half, where Bert is a Titan managed to score the only goal of the game in spite of characteristically lackluster performance in the first half.
/a/ vs /v/ - The "Tsundere Bowl" (a.k.a. "Tsun-derby")
Plenty of /a/nons play vidya, and plenty of /v/irgins watch animu, but every time they get together the two sides want to beat each other into a pulp before admitting to any crossover between their boards.
/a/ vs /b/ - The Old Firm (a.k.a. "Cancer Derby I")
These are two of the oldest boards on 4chan, and with /b/ becoming more cancerous over time after no longer being Anime/Random, /a/ has a bigger hatred for /b/ than most boards.
/a/ vs /jp/ - The True Weeabowl (a.k.a. "2hu Derby")
Several years ago, every /a/ thread was ripe for a hijack about Touhou, so after enough bitching moot decided to exile all the Touhou fans to /jp/. Which side holds the True Weeaboo spirit? The winner of this match gets a dakimakura with character of their choice, courtesy of the losing team, accompanied by a sudden rush of self-loathing.
