Being one of the sixteen starters of the 4Chan Cup, /g/'s trajectory has been one of mediocrity and defeat. Their performance in Summer was better than their past Elite Cup performances, with /g/ advancing to the finals, only to lose when Stallman's massive body bounced the ball into the back of the net after an important save.

Roster
Main Article: /g/ roster.
Match History
2011-2012
In the first 4chan Cups, /g/ was a rather forgettable side with no real /g/ culture being represented. There wasn't much of a fanbase to be found in the board, but despite that, the team found a manager named Mute. With a more proper roster, /g/ became...awful. The team could only get 3 wins in 2012, and would suffer 11 losses. In the 2012 Summer Cup, /g/ turned out to be a rather unlucky side in their first two matches, choking a 1-0 lead against /a/ at the last minute, and losing 2-1 to /pol/ with an own goal. They were in a desperate mindset against /m/, and Mute's panic led to a hilariously retarded tactical change where he threw several players forward and proceeded to get blown out by /m/ 5-0, sending /g/ to the 2012 Autumn Babby Cup.
/g/ would participate in Autumn friendlies, but in the actual cup and since then, Mute was inactive and for a long, long time, the team was basically without a manager and outdated as hell. So, it surprised no one to see the /g/entoomen get embarrassed by newcomers /h/ in a 5-3 loss and outclassed by /v/ in a 2-0 loss during the Autumn Babby Cup. What did surprise everyone was /g/'s 6-0 win over /ic/. This sparked arguments among viewers: had /h/ lost to /v/ after this, /g/ would have qualified for the 2013 Winter Cup, and /ic/'s conditions crippled their team with the whole defense being in purple conditioning. Rigging was suspected and something had to be done. The settings for conditioning were changed after this cup.
2013
With the 2013 Spring Babby Cup approaching, /g/ was as outdated usual, but managed to get a friendly draw against an ambitious /po/ team that had just found new life through a new manager. In the real cup, /g/ surprised many with an upset 2-1 win over /x/ and a 1-1 draw against /diy/. All of a sudden, this outdated dead team was coming to life on its own, and then a mysterious manager came along. His name was /g/entleady, and he managed one match for /g/, lost 3-0 to /3/ and just like that, /g/ was eliminated from this Babby Cup and failed qualify for the 2013 Summer Cup. /g/entleady announced that he quit managing the team after this and was never heard from again.
Following the events of Dragongate, a bunch of teams that previously failed to promote from the 2013 Spring Babby Cup were now promoted to the 2013 Summer Cup. /g/ was one of these teams, and they proceeded to get whipped left and right, with 0 points in their group. Their new manager, UselessNepgear was off to a bad, bad start, but the team did get some sympathy from viewers who noticed that /g/ was at least trying to play better football at this time. Plus, /g/'s loss to /jp/ was caused by a last minute penalty kick for the latter team, and this, combined with the desire from some fans to see /sp/ get relegated, got /g/ some support going into their match with /sp/.
But support unfortunately does always lead to good football, and thus, /g/ had to prove themselves on the pitch in the 2013 Autumn Babby Cup. For this season, /g/ had two managers, with Vaporwarez becoming a co-manager. Two heads proved to be better than one since /g/ qualified to the 2014 Winter Cup, but they were battered and bruised in doing so. /an/ thrashed /g/ 3-0, but due to a combination of other results, /g/'s 4 points in the group were enough to get them second place. Afterwards, /f/ cut /g/'s celebration short with a 2-0 loss for the /g/entoomen. UselessNepgear retired just before this match, so it was up Vaporwarez to get /g/ to survive a major 4chan cup in the next season.
2014
The 2014 Winter Cup was more of the same for /g/ - aside from a win against a very shy /lgbt/ team, /g/ went back to losing matches as usual and got relegated back to the 2014 Spring Babby Cup. This cup got /g/ to truly suffer: despite an energetic start with a 4-2 win over /3/, /g/'s form floundered in the new 5-team group format for the Spring Babby Cup this year. The offense was made to look like fools in a 0-0 draw against /r9k/ where the robots did not take a single shot in the whole match. Kerning danced around /g/'s defense in a 3-1 win for /gd/, and the 1-1 draw against /ic/ was not enough to get past the group stage. Worst of all, the few fans /g/ had were getting tired of their manager's bitching, and thus, he left the team after this cup.
OMP would become the new /g/ manager for the next two seasons. In the 2014 Autumn Babby Cup, the strangest thing happened: /g/ actually won a respectable amount of matches. This cup had /g/ beat the 2014 Winter Cup champions, /trv/. While many had predicted that /trv/ would fall off a cliff after that cup, this 4-1 win really put an exclamation mark on how far the former champions had fallen. After a predictable loss against /mlp/, /g/ bounced back with good performances in their 3 match winning streak during the cup. Unfortunately, /g/ completely shit themselves against /e/ once their match went into extra time, conceding 4 goals in a space of 8 in-game minutes.
2015
This year's Winter Cup had similar results for /g/ - 1 win, 2 losses, back to the Spring Babby Cup. Following this, OMP quit managing /g/, and MonsterIsland took over in hopes of getting the /g/entoomen back in a major cup.
/int/'s glory days were far behind them, and in a 4-2 loss to /g/, it was clear that those days wouldn't come back any time soon. Afterwards, /g/ faced a slight scare with a 3-1 loss to /vr/. The infamous Steve Jobs scored the consolation goal, but this wouldn't be Apple's last involvement in /g/'s goals. Terrorist Watch scored a double against /w/, and before they knew it, /g/ qualified for the 2015 Summer Cup due to having 6 points in the group, and a combination of other results. The /g/entoomen were able relax for the rest of the cup.
/g/'s hopes of competing in the 2015 Summer Cup were nearly dashed when MonsterIsland retired just before Summer. However, OMP came back, and with yet another hugely revised roster, /g/ went into Summer 2015 an underdog among the top teams. The first match of /g/'s Summer Cup was a 1-0 victory over /f/ backed by goalkeeper Common Sense, a surprise given /g/'s rather terrible previous history against /f/. The second match came with Gentoo fully installed, as he scored a hat trick and /x/'s spaghetti goalkeeper allowed new gold medal No Time For Love to score a 4th in a 4-2 victory over /x/. With 6 points through 2 matches, all /g/ needed to advance to the final round was a draw or /x/ win in the second to last Group G match. /x/ delivered with a cheeky 90+ goal to make their match 2-2, and while it seemed like /g/ would relax for the final match, any speculation about their taking this match less seriously was silenced when Audiophiles scored the first goal against /h/. /g/oalkeeping saved the day again as long-time savior Richard Stallman stopped most of a late /h/ onslaught to secure /g/'s spot atop the group.
