One of the first expansion teams added to the NHL in 1967 along with the Pittsburgh Penguins, St. Louis Blues, Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota North Stars and California Seals; The Flyers have seen both incredible highs and lows in their 52 years in the league. The Flyers were the 1st expansion team to win the Stanley Cup winning it in consecutive years from 1973-74 and 1974-75, known for their aggressive and hard hitting style of play the "Broad Street Bullies" were a team to be feared at their peak. Mild success followed in the coming decades with cup finals appearances in 1980, 1984, 1987, and 1997. Into the 21st Century the Flyers began to hit mediocrity despite having a competitive squad and would not see the Stanley Cup Finals again until 2010. Despite a miraculous run which included a 4-3 reverse sweep of the Boston Bruins in the 2nd round it still resulted in a loss for the Orange and Black. Post 2010 has seen many attempts at a rebuild but with the current crop of young players which include Carter Hart, Travis Konecny, Ivan Provorov, and led by long time captain Claude Giroux things are finally starting to look promising in the City of Brotherly Love
