/hoc/ League is a league-style Invitational hosted on the current version of Pro Evolution Soccer. All teams are meant to mimic their real-life version and as such are [ideally] managed by 100% non-mercs. That said, managing is at a minimum. The purpose of /hoc/ League is for 1) /hoc/-related shitposting 2) more memegrass and 3) to test a simple league-style format with weekly games and possibly some new PES rules. Noteably, /hoc/ League will try new height rules.

The first league will begin on September 15th, 2017. Its wiki page can be found here.

Format/Tables

  • Eight teams will compete in a league-style format.
  • Teams will be split into two divisions based on IRL geographical position and NHL conference/division location.
  • Teams will play against division teams twice (six games) and non-division teams once (four games, total of ten). With two divisions of five, teams may play division opponents twice and either non-division opponents once (12 games) or randomly play against two non-division opponents once to total 10 games.
  • Regular season games ending with level scores after full time will be decided by extra time and penalties.
  • Points: Win: 3 points, OT/Shootout win: 2 points, OT loss: 1 point, Loss: 0 points
  • The top two teams in each division will enter the Lord Glass Cup Playoffs.
  • The best division-winning team will face the worse of the two non-division-winning teams, meaning the first round matchup can be a division matchup.
  • Each round will be a best-of-three series. There will be NO third place match/series, despite this being a divegrass event.
  • The team that wins 2 games first in the final round of the playoffs will be crowned /hoc/ League Champion and awarded Lord Tanner’s Chalice.
  • Awards for various accomplishments will be given out at the end of the season. Examples are Team of the Year, Hart, Selke, Norris, and Vezina as well as statistical awards like the Rocket Richard, Bill Jennings, highest match-rated player, etc.

Schedule

  • With a league format, 10 weeks + playoffs will overlap with the IRL Cup. As such, the season will be scheduled to have at least a 2-week break around the Cup. Boris and others are adamant about no other divegrass events taking place during Cup weekends. It may be possible to resume /hoc/ League on the Friday before the knockouts of a Cup, assuming each of the 4 Cups adhere to the standard Friday-Saturday-Sunday/FSS/SS schedule.
  • It still may be possible to squeeze in the whole league in between Cups (in the future anyway).
  • Each team will play one game per "week".
  • There will be one or two "double-headers", where two weeks are streamed in one day. This will probably be done near the end of the season (probably the weeks before and after the real cup) for squeezing purposes or to just create some drama in the league standings.
  • At some point, there will be an All Star game between the best players from the East and West. Teams will be formed by a combination of statistical prowess and manager/streamer/viewer voting and interest. The winning conference will then earn the opportunity to face the actual All Star immediately after.

General Schedule & Important Dates

  • Team-specific Schedule Creation: September 8th, 00:00 UTC
  • Export Deadline: September 14th 00:00 UTC

Match/Managing/Tictacs

  • There will be NO livemanaging in /hoc/ league. All instructions will be pastebin only. Managers are asked to keep pastebin instructions detailed, but above all reasonable and concise.
  • Managers MAY commentate a match their team is involved in, however. We're all lads here and know how to be the right amount of biased and fun.
  • Most standard 4CC rules apply to team creation and match managing: two timeouts for tactical changes, concession timeouts are free, GGSS at 99/88/77, three subs, etc.
  • However, TWO big changes will happen: height brackets will be altered (see below) and keepers will be all 80 stats and may have two cards.
  • Meme tactics are highly encouraged.

Height Brackets

In order to encourage some creativity and freedom while keeping everyone on the same plane, the following brackets will be used:

Height Range (cm) Players
195-210 1
190-194 2
185-189 9
180-184 8
155-179 3

Using a system similar to normal heights, teams will be given 4190cm plus an additional 25cm to work with their players. This is calculated by multiplying the lowest number of each height range (195, 190, etc.) by its corresponding player requirement. However, 170cm is used for the lowest range. This is designed to make managers find the right balance for their team, whether it's a few super tall players or lots of moderately tall players.

For now, there will be no second eligible position for manlets. Maybe in the future.

Aesthetics

  • Teams will be allowed to have as many FBBs and “big blenders” as requested but within reason.
  • Goalies will be outfitted with goalie gear. If appropriate for the team’s meme, it might be just as well to make each goalie a sliding static goalie.
  • The ball for each match will be a puck (usually, some other /hoc/ memes might happen; team pucks are easy to make and lean on)
