If you would like to discuss anything about the /adv/ team, you can do so in the talk page.

Being one of the Original Sixteen, /adv/ has been a quiet yet reliable team for the entirety of the 4chan Cup. By now names like 5inchdick and S/adv/irgin are recognized by nearly all Cup spectators because of their long road traveled. They were slow to find their footing early on, ranking 8th in the inaugural 2012 Summer Cup and failing to qualify for the first Spring Babby. Things changed by Autumn 2012 with progression to the Round of 16, and improved further in the 2013 Winter Cup. It was there that /adv/ were grouped in the famous Group Hell. After hard-fought but bitter losses to /a/ and /mlp/, /adv/ were considered dead-on-arrival in their third game against /m/. What happened next, to many, was the most celebrated upset not only in team history, but in all of 4chan Cup history. /adv/ humiliated /m/ with a 6-1 blowout, confounding absolutely everyone present, relegating /m/ and /mlp/, and themselves surviving all the way to the Quarter Finals. Since then, /adv/ had been a quintessential yo-yo team, being relegated and then promoted from every cup right up until the 2014 Spring Babby, where they failed to promote. Their next shot at promoting back to the Elite tier will be in the next Autumn Babby.

History

2012 4chan Autumn Babby Cup

After being disqualified from the Spring Babby Cup, the s/adv/irgins had to take advantage of their second chance of the year to get into a major 4chan Cup. The cup draw placed /adv/ with /soc/, /lit/, and /gif/. Despite the conditioning of /soc/'s players being much better than /adv/'s, the match ended in a 2-2 draw, with both Feet and 5inchdick having doubles. Next, conditioning would be /adv/'s enemy again against /lit/, but the team was once again able to save a point, this time with a 1-1 draw with 5inchdick scoring again. Finally, /adv/'s much-needed win came against /gif/ in a match that ended with the score being 4-0. With this, /adv/ would top the group and qualify for the 2013 Winter Cup. While /h/ came from a memorable victory against /v/, /adv/ ended their journey with a 44th minute goal from Beta As Fuck. Notably, /h/ would missed a header in front of an empty goal in this match. The quarterfinals had /adv/ facing /r9k/ in the beta derby, and it lived up to the jokes made about it. After 120 minutes of boring, horrific, atrocious football, the match had to be decided by penalty kicks. With Femanon missing the first kick for /adv/, the viewers and commentators wondered if anyone would ever score in these penalty kicks. /adv/ would lose 2-3 to /r9k/ in the penalty kick shoot-out after missing 3 shots.

2013 4chan Winter Cup

The group stage draw left many people thinking /adv/ was a relegation candidate since the team was drawn in the group of death: /m/, /a/, and /mlp/ were the teams /adv/ had to face. Due to their run in the previous babby cup and their 0-0 draw with /hr/ after they got a manager, fans expected /adv/ to continue their trend of drawn and boring matches. However, their opening game against /a/ was anything but boring. S/adv/irgin put /adv/ ahead, but Mugi got /a/ on top with a double. In just two minutes after Mugi's second goal, Femanon kept the match even and the first half ended with the scores being 2-2. Things cooled down for a while, but at the 63rd minute, S/adv/irgin put /adv/ ahead once again. 10 minutes later, Cowboy Bebop went on a long run past the defense and both teams were even once again. Bebop would score /a/'s 4th goal 11 minutes afterwards, and though /adv/ had a golden opportunity near the end, it was wasted, and /a/ got the three points after an epic 4-3 victory. Next, /mlp/ could safely say they raped /adv/'s defense as they won 4-2 with a >rape hat trick. S/adv/irgin and 5inchdick scored 2 goals that didn't seem vital at first, until their next match. Because /m/ had such a high reputation, not many expected /adv/ to win, let alone getting the goals they needed in said win to get 2nd place in the group. /mlp/ had just lost 2-0 to /a/, and all /m/ needed was a draw. If /adv/ had won against /m/ 1-0, neither team would have gone through, and /mlp/ would get second place. However, /adv/ shocked everyone with a 6-1 victory over /m/, with S/adv/irgin scoring a hat trick, 5inchdick having a double and Friendzoned still being unable to get a girlfriend despite scoring. /adv/ earned 2nd place in the group of death and went on to face /v/ in the round of 16. /v/ wasn't even able to fill their fanny packs with spaghetti before 5inchdick scored the fastest goal in 4chan cup history. Though /v/ only had two shots in the whole match, those same shots got them two goals. This wasn't enough as /adv/ dominated in a 3-2 victory, with 5inchdick and S/adv/irgin proving to be a deadly duo. Sadly, this memorable run came to an end in the quarterfinals. /adv/ had good chances early on against /sp/, but Messi and Costanza would prove to be a deadlier duo as they put /sp/ ahead 2-0 in the first half. Neither S/adv/irgin nor 5inchdick could score in the match, but 1stworldproblems got /adv/ a goal that would only prove to be a consolation as Messi scored the final goal in a 3-1 win for /sp/. /adv/'s final ranking in the tournament was 6th place, and their run will not be forgotten as they won 4 team awards: Most Improved, Biggest Upset, Underdog of the Tournament, and Surprise of the Tournament.

2013 4chan Summer Cup

Going into this cup, /adv/ now had a reputation to defend. The team was drawn with /mlp/ once again, and the other two opponents were /trv/, and /f/, a team that was promoted via Dragongate. Though there were high expectations for the /mlp/-/adv/ rematch, the match disappointed everyone as /mlp/ would take their sweet time changing tactics as well as corrupted AI ruining several chances for both teams. Right after a long pause, >rape scored the only goal of the match. /adv/'s only win in this tournament was 2-1 against /f/ in the next match with 5inchdick and S/adv/irgin looking like the deadly duo they once were. Unfortunately, they disappeared in the final fixture, and /trv/ was able to calmly win 1-0, relegating a disappointing /adv/ team.

2013 4chan Autumn Babby Cup

/adv/ went into the babbies looking to prove that their relegation was a fluke and show that they were a team worthy of playing in the top tier. They were drawn into a group with a dead /po/ as well as /asp/ and /c/, so /adv/ fancied their chances. The first match against /asp/ was a chance for /adv/ to avenge their 4-2 loss just 2 months prior, a chance which they took in style. 5inchdick was the first to strike, followed by an impressive strike from outside the box by Friendzoned to make it 2-0. Bork Lazer managed head in a cross in an attempt to get /asp/ back in the match, but his effort proved to be in vain as s/adv/irgin went on shortly after to take advantage of a mistake by the /asp/ centre halves to restore /adv/'s lead to 2. Cheating Girlfriend then capitalised on a cross from s/adv/irgin to top off an impressive showing by /adv/, scoring with each of their medals.

The next two games played out fairly similarly. S/adv/irgin scored early in each and the /adv/ defence prevented /c/ or /po/ from snatching a goal themselves, though they did both create a fair amount of chances. /adv/ ended up topping the group with 9 points and qualifying for summer. Their attempt to make it any further in the babby cup was soon thwarted by /toy/, who then went on to win the cup themselves.

2014 4chan Winter Cup

The transition to PES2014 was not kind to /adv/. Their first match in the new game turned out to be their biggest ever loss, a 3-0 shut-out by /u/. /adv/ would also fail to score against /s/, leaving them without a goal in 3 consecutive games, their worst ever goalless run.

The group draw was a mixed bag; while they drew /cm/ and /cgl/, they also drew /a/. Their first match against /cm/ made it look as though /adv/'s fortunes might've been turning. A slow start by /adv/ allowed Nagisa to give /cm/ the lead. /adv/ soon found their stride and answered with a cross from one wide midfielder to another allowed Cheating Girlfriend to head the ball home to equalise. Just before the end of the half /adv/'s gold strike partnership showed themselves, as a cross from s/adv/irgin allowed 5inchdick to blast the ball into the roof of the net from 6 yards.

The next match, a rematch of the /adv/ - /a/ game from the previous winter cup, almost ended with the same scoreline. /adv/'s manager was absent and had not left instructions, leaving them to play with their default attacking sliders. Bert was first to take advantage of the gaps in /adv/'s defence, soon followed by Cowboy Bebop. 5inchdick managed to get a goal back by tapping in a Cheating GF cross, but /a/ answered with Bert getting a second after getting to Inferno Cop's saved effort. 5inchdick still wasn't ready to give in and dribbled straight through the centre of the midfield past 2 defenders to score. /a/ finished the game up with a Meguca crossing to Bert to give the Titan a hat trick, sending the /a/ fans into hysteria.

/adv/ were still second in the group and only needed a draw against /cgl/ to advance and stay in the elite cups. /adv/'s manager was once again absent, meaning he did not attend a singe match in the group stage, though he did leave tactics this time. A goal in the second minute by 5inchdick looked like it might have signalled an incoming hammering. While a hammering was indeed on the cards, /adv/ would be the ones on the receiving end of it. JNig was able to bag a hat trick in a first half that ended 4-2 in /cgl/'s favour. /adv/'s midfielders were taking up advanced positions which made every /cgl/ chance a 3-on-3 situation. By the 62nd minute Dramu had also gotten herself a hat trick. s/adv/irgin got his second goal in the 72nd minute to remind everyone that /adv/ was in fact on the pitch, but Dramu still didn't seem to realise it as she dribbled past 2 in the box to finish the game 3-7. /cgl/ topped the group and /adv/, despite having one of the best offensive record in the group stage, found themselves back in the babbies again.

2014 4chan Spring Babby Cup

/adv/'s 2014 performance went from bad to worse once they entered the babbies. If there were any positives to be taken from the Winter cup, it was that /adv/ still had a capable offence. This aspect of their play seemed to disappear completely, but their poor defence remained.

Their draw for the babbies was a mixed bag. Their first 2 matches were against /pol/ who were meant to play in Winter but got DQ'd for not providing an export and /co/, who were amongst the highest placed teams to be relegated. The pot 4 teams in the group were /k/ and /lit/.

/adv/ started off on the right foot against /pol/, finding space on the wings to put a few crosses in but a Breivik interception started a /pol/ counterattack that led to Jews sniffing out the right cross to allow Hitler to nod the ball into the net. From that point on /adv/ couldn't find any momentum and before long Zimmerman got on the end of another cross to double /pol/'s advantage. /adv/'s best chance of the match came when a corner fell to Friendzoned on the edge of the box, leading to a curling shot that struck the upright of /pol/'s goal. The second half slowed down for both teams, until Doompaul turned past a defender and beat Good Guy Greg to give /pol/ their third and final goal of the match.

/co/ struck early in their match through /co/lette to prevent /adv/ getting a foothold early on. A well organised /co/ defence intercepted nearly every pass that /adv/ made in the final third of the pitch. Neither team was making particularly good opportunities, save for The Flash making an impressive dribble to snake his way into the box before having his shot parried by Cpt. Hindsight. In the second half Archer had a good chance to score for /co/ before the /adv/ keeper rushed out to grab the ball from him. /adv/'s first shot of the entire game was very nearly a goal when 5inchdick ran in behind the defence before having his shot saved by a magnificent stop by The Boulder. General Crazy Tits put the game to bed in the 71st minute with a rocket of a shot into the top right corner.

At this point /adv/ had conceded 16 goals in their last 4 games. Despite /k/ striking through Zergface to take the lead in the 3rd minute, /adv/ managed to keep them from scoring for the rest of the match. /adv/ got a goal back in the 7th minute after a cross to the back post by Friendzoned bounced off the arse of /k/'s keeper Castle Doctrine into the net, a blunder that sent the commentators and spectators into hysteria and will be sure to be featured in football blunders DVDs for years to come. The match went as the previous 2 did, with /adv/ failing to fashion chances while /k/ made a good handful. The game finished 1-1, with /adv/ finally earning a point.

/lit/, along with /adv/, were already confirmed for the Autumn Babbies before their game kicked off. /adv/ put in a much better performance, managing as many shots on target in this match as they did in their last 3. Golden glove contender Exit Level prevented any of the shots going in though, and the game finished 0-0. Just /adv/ could never score off the pitch, they didn't score on the pitch either.

Rivalries

/adv/ vs. /r9k/: The Beta Bowl
Sharing so many identical features, /adv/'s main rival is the once-feared ROBOT9000, now a festering shell of its former self as ROBOT9001. Matches between the two sides usually result in no-score draws due to both teams being scared of touching the ball in case anything bad happens.

/adv/ vs. /m/: >The Dropped Colony
During the 2013 4chan Winter Cup, /adv/ found themselves in a tough spot in the group stages. In order to advance /adv/ needed to win the final game of the group stage against /m/ by 3 goals. At this point /m/ was second in the rankings, 29 places above /adv/, and the clear favourite going into the game. For /m/ to advance all they needed was a win, draw or loss by 1 goal. /adv/ ended up stunning /m/ as well as all of the spectators by beating /m/ by 6 goals to 1, relegating /mlp/ and /m/, who finished bottom of the group. Should these two teams meet again, /m/ will be merciless in their pursuit of revenge.

/adv/ vs. /asp/
/adv/ had just finished 6th in the Winter Cup and went into the friendlies brimming with confidence. /asp/, by contrast, had only just been created and went into their second official match against /adv/ looking to make a statement of intent. They did just that, defeating /adv/ 4-2 with a hat trick from CENAWINSLOL and commentator Ken absolutely flipping his shit. The next time the two clubs met was in the group stage of the following Autumn Babby Cup, where /adv/ got revenge for their earlier defeat by winning 4-1, with every one of /adv/'s medal players scoring. The loss and the damage to /asp/'s goal difference would mean they were condemned to stay in the babbies and /adv/ finished the group stage with 9 points. With the 2 matches featuring 11 goals between the 2 teams, future matches are sure to be heated and entertaining.
