The Coefficient Ranking system is an alternative to the current system that measures consistent performances over the last 4 seasons. After reviving in Spring 2017, /lgbt/ recorded the only perfect score of a 100 after winning all of it's matches without any draws or penalties to capture the 2017 4chan Spring Babby Cup. For an interactive version with historical data, visit https://isthisliv.com/4cc/stats/records/ranking/coeff/
Teams get 2 points for a win, 1 point for either a draw or penalty shootout, and absolutely nothing for losing; Fetus and playoffs are not counted. They also get points for advancing through the tournament, laid as follows:
Babby | Elite | |
---|---|---|
Advancing to knockouts | 2 pt | 3 pt |
Advancing to quarters | 0 pt | 1 pt |
Advancing to semis | 1 pt | 1 pt |
Advancing to the final | 1 pt | 1 pt |
Winning the cup | 1 pt | 1 pt |
Teams are ranked by their coefficient, which is a measure of their performance over the last 4 cups. It is simply the number of points they have earned divided by the maximum number of points (21 for an elite or megababby, and 19 for a babby) that can be obtained in the cups they participated in. If a team plays in a babby cup, it is considered to participate in the following elite, regardless of whether it promotes or not.
In the event of a tie, the coefficients are calculated for the last 3 cups and compared, and then the last 2 and last one for further ties. At the end, if it is still a tie, the rankings from the previous cup are used.
Broken down, an elite team only has to worry about performing well in the two cups it plays, a yoyo team has to perform consistently well, which isn't really possible for a yoyo, and a permababby is pushed down even lower than it would be because it has the burden of getting 0/21 points in elite cups.
Summer 2011-Summer 2012 did not use the same tournament system as is familiar today and do have different bonuses for advancement. Summer 2011 and Winter 2012 awarded 23 points for a perfect finish, Spring 2012 awarded 17, and Summer awarded 19.
