2013 4chan Winter Cup Group C

Winter Cup holders /k/ were in Group C of the 2013 4chan Winter Cup. /mu/ and perennial quarter finalists /n/ qualified from the 2012 4chan Summer Cup and /o/ returned to the top tier after reaching the round of 16 of the 2012 4chan Autumn Babby Cup.

Summary

Matchday 1

Deagle Brand Deagle's early goal for /k/ set the cup holders on a course for victory but by the end of the first half /mu/ had already overturned the deficit to go into the break 2-1 up. What followed was a devastating salvo of goals from /mu/, five of which came from the boot of Jeff Mangum as he rewrote the record books in favour of the team. By the end of the match /k/'s early lead was a very distant memory.

/o/ were taken by complete surprise as I Like Trains scored very early on for /n/. After the goal /o/ defended competently enough but /n/ were the constant thread with good distribution across the pitch. F40PH doubled the advantage before half time to assert his side's authority. /o/ refused the follow the script however as a Takumi goal set up an edgy end to the match, though /n/ put the result beyond all doubt with two injury time goals to take the points.

Matchday 2

/k/ did their best to resist a strong /n/ side but ultimately fell to a 4-2 defeat and are now relegated to Babby Cup level with a goal to spare. An action-filled end to the first half brought three goals in five minutes, from which /n/ emerged the leaders by 2-1. I Like Trains scored ten minutes into the second half in a push by /n/ to put the match beyond doubt, but Zergface scored his second with fifteen minutes remaining in the match to set up a nervy finish. For all their efforts, /k/ were unable to prevent I Like Trains' 30-yard strike to finish the match off and seal their fate.

/mu/ were bamboozled by an /o/ side which brought unorthodox tactics to the table. While dominating the match in most respects statistically, they were made to look some way short of their opening match selves. LS1 Swap gave /o/ the surprise lead, which they held until well into the second half when MC Ride equalised. Jeff Mangum gave /mu/ another after seventy minutes, but /o/ were rewarded for a spirited performance by Takumi's headed goal only six minutes later.
