VGL 21 would be a big shakeup for /vgt/, with 4 of the 5 medals being sent home. Tom's Supra was the only player who retained his spot, and it was up to him to guide team veterans Daihatsu Midget and {{greentext|sport mode}}, alongside newcomers Coffee Break and Patent-Motorwagen. Each of them were eager to prove their worth, and in the first group stage match against {{team away|egg}}, they did. Straight out of the gate, the player previously considered /vgt/'s worst, {{greentext|sport mode}}, put the team up a goal at the 11th minute. The first half would be back-and-forth between the teams, with /egg/'s Mechanically Engineered Autism quick to respond to {{greentext|sport mode}}, and eventually, Tom's Supra, but Coffee Break made sure to end the half 3-2 for /vgt/. The team's defense was already putting in work in the first half, but in the second half, they really made sure that /egg/ would not get any opportunities. /vgt/, on the other hand, kept up their offensive effort, with Tom's Supra and new gold medal Daihatsu Midget ending the game 5-2, /vgt/'s strongest group stage performance yet. | VGL 21 would be a big shakeup for /vgt/, with 4 of the 5 medals being sent home.
/vgt/'s performance going into their next match wouldn't slow down one bit, as /vgt/ faced off against {{team away|gbpen}}. The /vgt/ defense was ruthless against /gbpen/ from the start, and the offense, while slow to start, would eventually crack through the opposing team, giving /vgt/ another 3 goal lead. Tom's Supra, Daihatsu Midget, and {{greentext|sport mode}} would finish the match 3-0, and with the next match in the group ending on a draw, /vgt/ would confirm themselves into the RO16 for the very first time.
After a {{tt|small delay from race control|manhole cover issues}}, {{team away|nikg}} would be /vgt/'s final group stage opponent. The home crowd was {{tt|completely on their feet anticipating this match|because the game crowd audio was way too loud}}, but it would soon turn into worry as /nikg/ got the first goal, making /vgt/ play catch-up for the first time in the group. The worry would be alleviated before the half, however, as Daihatsu Midget picked up a keeper deflection to tie the match, and from the second half onwards, /vgt/ was back up to full speed. {{greentext|sport mode}} would once again show up to score not once, but twice with an amazing tap-in and header. With a final score of 3-1, /vgt/ had not only obtained their first RO16 entry, but joined the 9 point mustard race as well.
/vgt/ had finally reached the Round of 16, but things would not get easy. Once again, /vgt/ would be drawn against a team in very high form, {{team away|smtg}}, fresh off a 2nd place appearance from VGL X-2, and from the onset, it didn't seem like there was much this autopilot /vgt/ could do against them. Two goals by /smtg/ in the first 30 minutes meant that /vgt/ was trailing behind for the first time, and the /vgt/ attack seemed hapless. But once again, late into the match, {{greentext|sport mode}} would give /vgt/ a spark of hope, with 20 minutes left to score another goal to send the match to extra time. However, the /smtg/ defense would continue to be as ruthless as ever, and the whistle had blown, with the match ending 2-1. /vgt/ had still accomplished their highest league finish of 12th, and with a continued upward trend, hopefully the future would be brighter for the team.

===/vg/ League 22 - Break Down===
[[File:Vgtkazred.png|thumb|left|Kaz gets a red card against {{team away|gig}} in the first half.]]
/vgt/ spent the previous 3 tournaments proving itself against established teams, and to kick off VGL 22, the roles would be reversed as {{team away|snowg}}, the only new team for that season, went up against the established threat. Equal footing early in the match turned into domination by the newcomers, only stopped by some missed chances and amazing goalkeeping by the SSCS Safety Car. At 50', /snowg/ finally broke through to break the tie, and /vgt/ would have to chase for a goal of their own, which finally came courtesy of Tom's Supra at 88'. /vgt/'s debut in VGL 19 was spoiled by a goal in the dying minutes to tie it 1-1, and now /vgt/ had returned the favor themselves.
Next, /vgt/ went up against the titans of {{team away|gig}}. Right out of the gate, /vgt/ had a much more promising showing, but nothing could come out of the siege as /gig/ would take the first goal at 27'. And then, 10 minutes later, tragedy struck. Former medal Kaz makes a bad tackle and gets an immediate red card. /vgt/ was down a man, and down another goal as Kaz's tackle allowed for a free kick. All hope seemed lost for a moment, but at 42', Coffee Break would give /vgt/ another fighting chance with a goal. Then, five minutes later, tragedy would strike for /gig/ this time, as another /vgt/ attack gave way for Roll For Who You Like to score an egregious own goal to tie the game right before the half. As the next part of the match rolled on, it became clear that the numbers game was too much for /vgt/ as /gig/ would score 2 more. Right at the end, Daihatsu Midget would score an impressive free kick to end the match 4-3. Despite the loss and the red card, /vgt/ gave it their all, and the next match would be critical to their survival.
It was time for do or die. Death or glory. /vgt/ vs. {{team away|omg}}. After two games of doubt, /vgt/ had to come out swinging and punching, because the only way for /vgt/ to advance would be to win. 6 minutes in, /vgt/ sent their message loud and clear with a Daihatsu Midget goal, followed by another from {{greentext|sport mode}} at 15', with another at 26'. /omg/ were struggling to even get a shot on target, but they managed to get one in the net right before the half. 15 minutes into the second half, {{greentext|sport mode}} gets a third and becomes the 2nd ever player in /vgt/ history to get a hattrick, the VGL 21 MVP which had been asleep completely woke up. The majority of the match was under /vgt/'s control, but at 89', /omg/ would get one last ball in off a keeper deflection to end it 4-2.
It was an impressive showing, and /vgt/ found themselves at 4 points once again, but it wasn't over. If {{team away|snowg}} beat {{team away|gig}} by 3 goals, then /snowg/ would go over /vgt/. Surely an impossible hill to climb, right?
Then fear. /gig/ had a medal on the bench for the entire match. Immediately, /snowg/ score.
A sigh of relief as /gig/ get one in. One half goes by. Then at 55', another /snowg/ goal. Then another at '81. Ten minutes. Ten minutes was all /vgt/ needed to stay alive.
90th minute on the clock. Fenny Game scores for /snowg/. After 3 straight leagues of knockout appearances, /vgt/ failed to advance for the first time in heartbreaking fashion.

History
/vg/ League 19 - First Strike
Heading into VGL 19, /vgt/ had high expectations after blitzing through New Thread Cup. However, their start wasn't all that great. Debuting against /ggg/, Watch the Demonstration and the rest of the defense were on high alert throughout /ggg/'s extensive siege early in the match, and after many relentless minutes, one quick counter from the attack was all they needed to take the lead thanks to >pretty woman car. What followed was 50 minutes of questionable passes, followed by /ggg/ scoring a free kick in the final 10 minutes thanks to Tommy.
The next match was a much different story. /revue/ and /vgt/ started off competitive, but the match begun to swing into /vgt/'s favor, however, no goals would be scored for a long while thanks to Tom's Supra being in poor condition. Finally, Suzuki Escudo put the team ahead at the 60 minute mark. /vgt/'s dominance continued through the rest of the game, with >pretty woman car adding two more goals to his name. Finally, in the dying minutes, /revue/ managed to squeeze one in at 90+6, but it was much too late, /vgt/ took the game away 3-1, putting them back on the map and top of the group.
So far, /vgt/ had their first draw and first victory, then it was time for their first taste of defeat. Opponents /fgoalter/ came out of the gate swinging, with the half ending 2 goals down for /vgt/. However, right as the match began, on the other side of the globe, Brazil's national football team lost to Croatia on penalties in the World Cup, and Brazilian national >sport mode was on the field for /vgt/, dragging the team down. After he was subbed off at half-time, /vgt/'s prospects looked much better, with Suzuki Escudo scoring right away. Unfortunately, it was too little too late, as the scoreline ended 1-2 with /vgt/ finishing 2nd in the group.
It was then time for do or die. /vgt/ entered survival round against the outgoing /きらら/, this time pulling zero punches. Tom's Supra finally woke up from his sleep and put /vgt/ up 4-0 before the half. Even with /きらら/ attempting to make up goals, /vgt/'s attack was relentless with Tom's Supra tying the record for most goals in a VGL match and Suzuki Escudo putting the final nail in /きらら/'s coffin, ending the match 7-4.
/vgt/ couldn't rest easy just yet, though. Later in the day, they had to face /akg/, a team fresh off a VGL victory, which would be the end of the road for /vgt/. Despite a very early attack, /akg/ was firmly in control of the rest of the game, and any attacking attempts /vgt/ made were swiftly shut down. Finally, after being down 3-0, Suzuki Escudo scored one last goal to end /vgt/'s first ever VGL run.
/vg/ League X-2 - Good Days, Bad Days
After a mildly successful VGL 19 run which would see them make the /vg/ roster on their debut, /vgt/ would have to prove themselves against a tougher set of opponents in VGL X-2, in a group which featured many familiar names throughout the world of Japanese motorsport. Representing the Pacific Racing μ's McLaren MP4-12C, /llsifg/ was fresh off getting 5th place in VGL 19, but the paddock at Polyphony had something to prove. /vgt/ kept up the pressure high on the pitch, and had great control of the match for the better part of the first half. While Tom's Supra was unable to help with scoring efforts due to his purple condition, Escudo and Kaz picked up the slack and put /vgt/ ahead. /llsifg/ would get in a good attack of their own, with Love Yourself making the game 2-1 for /vgt/ before the half. After a competitive 2nd half, a goal from Gusokumuchi would tie the game near the 80th minute, and it seemed for all that the game would end in a draw. However, the battle wasn't over yet, and thanks to another team effort from Tom's Supra and Suzuki Escudo, /vgt/ immediately pulled ahead to end the match 3-2.
Next up, representing Good Smile Racing, was /psg/, and Tom's Supra was immediately eager to show up after his partially invisible performance against /llsifg/, scoring 12 minutes in. However, /vgt/'s offense was struggling to make any shots happen beyond that, and shortly after the half, /vgt/ was down 1-2 with no help from NO JAPANESE ALLOWED who was too busy staring at asses to help with defense. Soon after, however, /vgt/ looked to be on the upswing again as another goal from Tom's Supra put the match at 2-2. Many minutes passed by, and a draw was looming over the horizon. /psg/ had one last chance at a corner, and 90+3... they headed it in. /vgt/ would walk out of the match 2-3, after a promising start into major disappointment.
/vgt/ was in rough spot heading into the final match of group stage weekend. A win wouldn't guarantee top of the group, and a draw wouldn't even guarantee making it out of group stage. The final opponent, also representing Good Smile Racing, would give /vgt/ their hardest battle yet. /fgog/ was relentless in the opening stage, taking advantage of /vgt/'s seemingly nonexistent defense and lifeless keeper, and by the 35th minute, /vgt/ was down 3-0. In the moment, all hope seemed lost for /vgt/, but shortly before the half, Tom's Supra sunk in a goal and gave /vgt/ a shot in the arm and a little bit of hope. The driver's seat was taken away from /fgog/, and somehow, /vgt/ managed to catch up thanks to Escudo at 62' and Supra again at 74'. /fgog/ would get more chances, but none came to fruition as the game ended 3-3.
All /vgt/ could do now was wait on the sidelines and see how the next match would turn out, either /psg/ had to win by any amount or /llsifg/ had to win by 2. Thankfully, the vaguely-related Super GT allies of /psg/ would assist /vgt/ in getting through, winning their match 2-0 and advancing to knockouts, while /vgt/ would head back to survival round to face /kfg/, which came out of the group stage looking formidable. And formidable they were in the opening stages of the match, with /vgt/ desperate to keep their attack at bay. The tide began to turn in the second half, with /vgt/ firmly on the offensive, ending the game 2-0 thanks to Escudo and Supra once again.
Later in survival round, /vgt/ would face off against the debuting powerhouse /lcg/, and with an early goal from /lcg/'s DANTEEEEHHHHH, it seemed like /vgt/'s journey would end at the same destination as last time. However, despite /lcg/ giving the team a rough start, /vgt/'s attack never gave up, and right after the half, Tom's Supra tied the game. The entire ensuing match was anyone's game, both /lcg/ and /vgt/'s goalkeepers gave their life to keep the ball out, but it would be /vgt/'s Watch the Demonstration that would finally fall, with /lcg/ getting 2 more at 65' and 73'. Yet, /vgt/ never gave up, with Tom's Supra following up with another goal 3 minutes later. However, despite /vgt/'s best efforts, the game would end 3-2, and /vgt/ would leave once again in survival round 2 with a thriller of a match, finishing 1 place higher than VGL 19.
/vg/ League 21 - Place In This World
VGL 21 would be a big shakeup for /vgt/, with 4 of the 5 medals being sent home. Tom's Supra was the only player who retained his spot, and it was up to him to guide team veterans Daihatsu Midget and >sport mode, alongside newcomers Coffee Break and Patent-Motorwagen. Each of them were eager to prove their worth, and in the first group stage match against /egg/, they did. Straight out of the gate, the player previously considered /vgt/'s worst, >sport mode, put the team up a goal at the 11th minute. The first half would be back-and-forth between the teams, with /egg/'s Mechanically Engineered Autism quick to respond to >sport mode, and eventually, Tom's Supra, but Coffee Break made sure to end the half 3-2 for /vgt/.
/vgt/'s performance going into their next match wouldn't slow down one bit, as /vgt/ faced off against /gbpen/. The /vgt/ defense was ruthless against /gbpen/ from the start, and the offense, while slow to start, would eventually crack through the opposing team, giving /vgt/ another 3 goal lead. Tom's Supra, Daihatsu Midget, and >sport mode would finish the match 3-0, and with the next match in the group ending on a draw, /vgt/ would confirm themselves into the RO16 for the very first time.
After a small delay from race control, /nikg/ would be /vgt/'s final group stage opponent. The home crowd was completely on their feet anticipating this match, but it would soon turn into worry as /nikg/ got the first goal, making /vgt/ play catch-up for the first time in the group. The worry would be alleviated before the half, however, as Daihatsu Midget picked up a keeper deflection to tie the match, and from the second half onwards, /vgt/ was back up to full speed. >sport mode would once again show up to score not once, but twice with an amazing tap-in and header. With a final score of 3-1, /vgt/ had not only obtained their first RO16 entry, but joined the 9 point mustard race as well.
/vgt/ had finally reached the Round of 16, but things would not get easy. Once again, /vgt/ would be drawn against a team in very high form, /smtg/, fresh off a 2nd place appearance from VGL X-2, and from the onset, it didn't seem like there was much this autopilot /vgt/ could do against them. Two goals by /smtg/ in the first 30 minutes meant that /vgt/ was trailing behind for the first time, and the /vgt/ attack seemed hapless. But once again, late into the match, >sport mode would give /vgt/ a spark of hope, with 20 minutes left to score another goal to send the match to extra time. However, the /smtg/ defense would continue to be as ruthless as ever, and the whistle had blown, with the match ending 2-1. /vgt/ had still accomplished their highest league finish of 12th, and with a continued upward trend, hopefully the future would be brighter for the team.
/vg/ League 22 - Break Down
/vgt/ spent the previous 3 tournaments proving itself against established teams, and to kick off VGL 22, the roles would be reversed as /snowg/, the only new team for that season, went up against the established threat.
Next, /vgt/ went up against the titans of /gig/.
/vgt/ vs. /omg/. After two games of doubt, /vgt/ had to come out swinging and punching, because the only way for /vgt/ to advance would be to win. 6 minutes in, /vgt/ sent their message loud and clear with a Daihatsu Midget goal, followed by another from >sport mode at 15', with another at 26'. /omg/ were struggling to even get a shot on target, but they managed to get one in the net right before the half. 15 minutes into the second half, >sport mode gets a third and becomes the 2nd ever player in /vgt/ history to get a hattrick, the VGL 21 MVP which had been asleep completely woke up. The majority of the match was under /vgt/'s control, but at 89', /omg/ would get one last ball in off a keeper deflection to end it 4-2.
It was an impressive showing, and /vgt/ found themselves at 4 points once again, but it wasn't over. If /snowg/ beat /gig/ by 3 goals, then /snowg/ would go over /vgt/.
