The match began with a back and forth and several goals on both sides: Chocomint, Poe (a Chloe rep), Bootaro and Orca is getting washed (obviously another Chloe rep) made it 2-2 after around 20 minutes. It was Freaky Ghost Maid who finally tilted the game in our favour. She should later become the MVP, a nonmedal MVP, just like against {{team away|wah}} in our 2th match of VTL 7. FGM made it 3-2 and no Chloe answered. Instead, Frogbert scored as well - 4-2 at half time.

In the second half, the team continued to run up the score. We had to equalize a striking 0-4 defeat and did so in an amazing fashion. Freaky Ghost Maid scored a Rabona goal, later struck it in when {{team away|holoX}} lost a high ball in their own half - to her, heading to Chocomint who found FGM in an open lane in return - and in injury time, she assisted Chocomint with a high ball of her own. 7-2, our highest victory to date, we suddenly have a positive GD. What an answer to our highest defeat to date a week before!

The last match put us in a comforble position, we just needed a tie. Rainy weather, a {{team away|rrat}} team that was better than it would have seemed before the VTL, an exciting match to close the Group.
A purple Frogbert, surely he wouldn't fuck it all up for us, right? He lost the ball early and Psycho, {{tt|of course Psycho|I can't take it anymore. I'm sick of Psycho. I try to pass to La Creatura. Psycho scores. I try to pass to Strawberry Bae. Psycho scores another goal. I try to pass Baejima. Psycho scores another goal. Baeby gets the ball. She passes it to Psycho. I Sub in Hagneto and Paparat- they both pass to Psycho. She grabs me by the throat. I give her a gold medal. I make another tactic. I let them score 2 goals. She isn't satisfied. I let them score 3. "Kono Rakuen no" She tells me. "左胸で踊り狂う臓器 今際にしがみついて昂る." She grabs Jack and forces him to throw himself off enemies. "You just need to pass me more. I can score more goals with more balls." I can't pass her more balls, The match is rigged. She grabs my apes. They are all gone. "Guess this is the end." She grabs Lord Squeakers. She says "Psycho, Saikyou." There is no hint of sadness in his eyes. Nothing but pure, stream breaking divegrass. What a cruel world.}}, scored to make it 0-1. In a strange similarity to the last match, a chaotic back and forth of goals followed with them leading twice and us equalizing twice. The team got better as the match progressed and even Frogbert got his shit together.
Our upwards trend continued into the second half and finally got rewarded, Psycho Mintis scored yet another nonmedal goal and our subs struck immediately as well: Dachiface threw to the Nondescript Elf who passed to Chocomint and Chocomint did her thing in assisting Bootaro: 4-2 after around 65 minutes. Nonmedal players did a lot of work, both in our attack and in our defense, and Chocomint was busy assisting them. This has been a formula for success during the whole VTL. They made us rely less on that shitter Frogbert.
Unexpectedly, the momentum shifted towards {{team away|rrat}} in the last stage of the match. Steel Rose got them back to 4-3, we had to hope that we wouldn't be cursed by the sand - and we didn't. The Sand Curse saved some big chances in the end. For us, the journey continues into the KO Stage, but {{team away|rrat}} is out. They spooned in VTL 7, but this time around, they had a strong and competitive team.

What a draw! And how unfortunate as well, why does it have to be us who sends off threads of graduating chuubas? This section and those of the following matches will be added shortly.
What a draw! The best Group winner in the Round of 24, {{team away|who}}, followed by the best Group winner overall, {{team away|suuji}}, should we win. We were eager to prove that this draw wasn't unfortunate for us, but for them. However, in any case, it was an unfortunate draw because we once again would have send off a thread that leaves. Are we cursed? At this point, we are the curse.

{{team away|who}} would leave after VTL 8, Mumei graduates and won't return. Of course we have sympathy with all Hoomans, we wish all the best for them and for Mumei, but we also had a match to play. Our HYP and Audio for this match had to be on point: Be respectful, but not soft, be serious, but not cruel, not make it about us, but also don't forget that we also have our own ambitions and goals. And on top of this, we could celebrate the one year anniversary of Minto's return and our thread's birthday which was on 01 April. We were surprised to see that {{team away|who}} not only presented HYP of their own, but also a special anthem just like us. We might have to be the funeral squad of Hololive, but it was all good fun and everything was in good faith.

There was also Divegrass to be played and the team played well, even though there were warning signs for what's to come: The Japanese Princess left a very easy chance go to waste and in return, Boomei scored a spectacular goal. We were suddenly trailing 0-1?! Our team controlled the match and turned it around, but the lead could have very well been much higher and much more secure than just 2-1 at half-time.

And so, as it goes, did {{team away|who}} equalize. The match was almost turned on its head, we were in dire need of Freaky Ghost Maid who didn't play. Solid Mint had to step up and hit the net, but our lead was still not secure. {{team away|who}}'s game plan was on point for the last 25 minutes. They obviously planned for us to play a more offensive 3-4-3 or 3-3-4 like we tend to do - when we changed to that, they got the upper hand. Our previous 4-4-2 seemed like a hard counter in contrast. Once again, it was great goalkeeping which saved us.

Upcoming match!
3-2 in the end, we will go on and they will leave. Both threads presented HYP to close this emotional and exciting match, goodbye messages by both sides. Out of respect for them, we will not feature theirs in our HYP gallery. This is just for them. To the sound of Mint singing Astrogirl, the Round of 24 concludes.

{{tt|“AKIBerse is always waiting here for you!”|t. Nondescript Elf}}

We returned to our old home stadium in Akiba to meet a team which dominated their group! How nostalgic, we played some great matches here... and would go on to present another show of force.

It wasn't {{team away|suuji}} who were up on top, but us. We completely rolled all over them in the first half and didn't waste our chances. Freaky Ghost Maid returned, scored twice in the first half and so did Chocomint. Everything worked to perfection. Our opponent didn't even shoot at our goal once in those first 45 minutes. There isn't really much to say about this except that it just worked on that day.

{{team away|suuji}} wasn't quite as helpless in the second half, but the match was basically over at this point. They scored twice, one goal was a nice combination, the other was a huge defensive slip-up of ours. Since Psycho Mintis also scored, the match ended 5-2 for us. It was nice to see a thread that usually keeps to themselves and that many outsiders may overlook. You just have to love the JP rep and their unique team.

====<div style='display:inline-block;width:calc(100% - 100px);background:linear-gradient(to right, #86f0c1, #FFFFFF);font-family:sans-serif;padding:2px;padding-left:10px;border-radius:5px 5px 0 0;font-weight:700'><span style="color:#472500;">Quarter Final, 06 April 2025, {{team away|brg}}, 1-2 (1-0)</span></div>====

{{tt|“Frogbert Hate!”|t. everyone}}

We made the final day. Frogbert was red. Surely he wouldn't fuck it all up and unironically cost us the league, right?

A purple Freaky Ghost Maid was a bad sign already, but we were hopeful and excited. The team played great, similar to the matches against {{team away|holoX}}, {{team away|who}} and {{team away|suuji}} - after all, the tactics were almost identical. However, what may have been warning signs against {{team away|who}} became catastrophic failures now. They wasted so many chances. In the end, Japanese Princess still scored to conclude the first half with a 1-0 lead.

The second half saw the tragedy unfold. We continued to dominate, but they equalized. We just couldn't score this day. We weren't the curse anymore, we were cursed. Close to the end, {{team away|brg}} unexpectedly scored themselves. 1-2. There was still a chance, the team still played aggressive and offensive Divegrass and got a last corner. It should have been a short corner to Frogbert. Frogbert slipped. We lost.

Our journey in VTL 8 ends here. It was a fun one, the Wisps enjoyed it, even outsiders enjoyed our performance, but we met a tragic end. We were on top of our game and ended in 5th place. That VTL has finally shown that we aren't those dumb and strange underdogs anymore who seemingly refused to do things the established way just for the sake of it, but it revealed us to be one of the top threads in the VTL. We will come back.

"Okaerinasaimase goushoujin-sama, ojou-sama!"

After three long years in Heaven, an adorable yet freaky ghost maid Mint Fantôme has finally returned to Earth to once again haunt careless idols and infiltration specialists. With her quirky humour, gremlin voice and cuteness exceeding all limits (but don’t you dare tell her that!), Mint is a shining light to Wisps all over the world, even if she always keeps us waiting and crying when she’s late or absent.

Now that we have our own Divegrass team, we’ve become a general to be reckoned with. We may hold our light sticks in missing hands and strike goals with missing legs, but it is then and only then that we are truly alive. All the pain, the pleasure, the joy and the sorrow - they are ours, and no one else’s.

We’re entering VTL determined to show everyone our power and our will to fight and win. The time has come to take back everything we’ve lost, to make ourselves bigger, better than before. But just one thing, Wisp: this isn’t about the past. We’re playing for the future.

Group Stage

"What a thrill..."

Our oshi is back, some of us waited for three long years...

We established a thread of our own and quickly got into board events. Some Wisps proposed a Divegrass team and the others were excited to get this going. There was a lot of work to be done. A whole new squad, a kit, audio, aesthetics and tactics. Would we be ready? We had issues with everything, you could and still can see us learning and adapting to this Divegrass experience with every match. We were thrown into Group E with Warkop icon.png /warkop/, Hlgg icon.png /hlgg/, Wah icon.png /wah/, Lia icon.png /lia/ and Brg icon.png /brg/.

Our opponents would be, in that order, Brg icon.png /brg/, Wah icon.png /wah/ and Warkop icon.png /warkop/. Many Wisps hoped to play Lia icon.png /lia/ and we were happy to share a group with friends, but we could just support them in their matches against the same opponents.

"Kept you waiting, huh?"

First match ever - both for them and for us. Our team got some high profile players for our squad: Solid Mint, a /vt/ board player, Frogbert and a certain Nondescript Elf who both previously played for NijiEN icon.png /nijiEN/. Unbeknownst to us, all of those players were about to play a prominent role in that debut match.

That very first match started with a shock - Frogbert lost the ball in the midfield, Brg icon.png /brg/ overcame our defensive line with just one pass and FUCK YOU HARRY scored - 0:1 with less than 5 minutes on the clock. Oh fuck. Off to a great start. With the 1st half progressing, our team became more dangerous and more confident in themselves. Deep into stoppage time, Nondescript Elf could have equalized, but her shot was saved - for now. She kept the pressure up, got the ball back off a defender, played to Solid Mint who escaped their defense and put the Wisp ball into the net. A good end to that half for all Wisps, especially the ball. It was still a slow slurpfest in the 2nd half, but now Brg icon.png /brg/ had the better goalscoring opportunities - our only KAPOW in the 2nd half was ruled offside, Freaky Ghost Maid should have her big day, but not today. When everybody expected a tie, we were shocked yet again. Chocomint and Freaky Ghost Maid could not get the ball cleared after a corner kick and we conceded once again with less than 5 minutes to play. 1-2. Beaten on a coin toss.

First match, first defeat, already with the back against the wall.

“That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death may die.”

Friday, the 13th, Wah icon.png /wah/ away, death match. The stage was set for a spooky match and accordingly, the away pen showed some Lovecraftian HYP before the match that was supposed to appeal to both threads. The team itself was unrecognizeable - the slow 3-5-2 was replaced by a much more aggressive 3-3-4 which pressed high and effective. After an early opportunity for the home side, we took control. The Silver medal DMFs weren't out of shape this time and kept our box safe, we forced Wah icon.png /wah/ to make mistakes and, fitting for this date, the Spooky Ghost Maid used this to great effect. She scored twice and was celebrated as our MVP. V1 My Beloved put one in after the worst free kick Wispkind ever witnessed was cleared poorly and Just A Box... made it 4-0 close to the end. 4 Metal Gear players created this goal on the right flank.

Our first win, the Wisps were celebrating, but we all knew that the final Group Stage match would indeed be a final to advance.

"Goalkeepers need an element of insanity."

The Sand Curse almost doomed us in the 1st half and saved our asses twice in the 2nd by preventing what looked like easy goals for them. Fucking Goalkeepers, man. Warkop icon.png /warkop/ away, the final match, just don't concede early... We didn't even know what we were in for.

We played a shared anthem to start the match, but it seemed at first that this just helped Warkop icon.png /warkop/. 0-2 down after 10 minutes, holy shit. Just 5 minutes later, Solid Mint equalized. And she wasn't done yet. Sheer madness and insanity was about to unfold. That is, if it hadn't already.

The 2nd half saw us start with a bang. Solid Mint - who played on her second A position as Second Striker so we would have 2 Gold Forwards - scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half. Her 4-2 would later be crowned Goal of the Tournament. Playing long passes up and down the flanks proved effective. Just like us in the 1st half, the Indonesians also came back with a header immediately - 4-3. So much kekoff abuse on both sides! Half an hour to go, this would be long 30 minutes. At 65', S(k)rooky, Bootaro and Mintoji-san entered the pitch when we had a throw-in and immediately made it 5-3: S(k)rooky threw to Bootaro, he played a high ball to the 2nd post and Mintoji-san headed it in. It wasn't over yet - Kobo Tempest scored very close to the end, but just a few more minutes of HOLDHOLD.pngHOLD.pngHOLD.pnging out, then it was done!

We advanced to the KO Stage in our very first VTL. Many Wisps went on that away day even though the Ghost Lady herself was streaming at the same time.

KO Stage

First VTL, first KO Stage. Now it was do or die - little did they know, we're already ghosts... Awat icon.png /awat/, at home, GGG icon.png /GGG/ if we beat them. Considering that losing against us eliminated Wah icon.png /wah/ in the Group Stage, we could become the ultimate MythBusters.

Everyone who isn't a Wisp wanted to see some Amesame, let's ruin it for them and embrace being the heel in this.

"Chocominto Ice Ice Ice!"

Welcome to the Chocomint show. First knockout match, time for the Captain to step up - and step up she did. Holy shit did she step up.

Finally at home again. Wisps travelled far and wide for those last two matches and saw some great performance on the road, but they longed for a show at home as well. Our HYP made it clear that we won't let them have their Amesame derby, but still, Awat icon.png /awat/ started strong with 2 early chances by the Femmate. However, our team woke up after that 2nd one: Bootaro led the ball on the left, played a long cross to Chocomint and she put it in: 1-0, after around 20 mins played. We now took over the game and never let go, they couldn't break our midfield, we pressed high and effective. Not just that, our attacks were clean and swift. Tourist FAQ just fucked up 1 time which allowed them to come back, but it was already 3-0 at this time.

The 2nd half saw more of the same, two more goals by Psycho Mintis and Freaky Ghost Maid respectively which were forced by high pressing, box overload and good passing. Even though our team calmed down at 66', there was still time for one more: Freaky Ghost Maid played one pass to beat their whole defensive line, Chocomint struck it in; 6-1. The Wisps were amazed and couldn't wait for the next match.

After the match, the away pen showed some tifo to honour their oshi who recently graduated. We know this feeling, man. Our thoughts and feelings are with you, Awat icon.png /awat/.

"Pain Pomu."

On the road again, Round of 16, our away pen started the match with yet another HYP to complete the MythBusters arc. However, it turned out to be hard fought match: GGG icon.png /GGG/ may have needed a natural 20 on their D20 for their CB matchday conditions to stop our furious attacks, but they got it - and they were aggressive as well. It seemed obvious that they wanted to avenge Awat icon.png /awat/, so a true fight unfolded on the pitch. Many tackles, solid defenses, few opportunities to score.

It was us who struck first close to the end of the 1st half: Chocomint found the Nondescript Elf who scored for our half-time lead of 1-0. The 2nd half saw a stronger GGG icon.png /GGG/ who equalized early and kept up the pressure. It was a match on a knife's edge, decided on a coin toss once again... and once again, we were beaten: Our goal was ruled offside, theirs was given, 5 minutes to the end. 1-2.

Our first VTL ends here. It's been quite a ride. The Wisps enjoyed it and this is all that matters in the end.

Group Stage

"With my lovely group of girls, everything is pasta-bowl!"

That off-season was wild, it was as if the team was completely remade. We got a new badge, new kits, new players, new music and tried a lot of funny shit in several friendly tournaments. In VTL 8, we wouldn't be these small newcomers anymore, we would be put into pot 1 with the supposedly strongest teams for the draw. Our Group was spectacular: HoloX icon.png /holoX/, HiRyS icon.png /HiRyS/, Rrat icon.png /rrat/ in Group Ecchi. Two giants who won the VTL before and one of them took their girlfriend with her.

"It's just one of those days..."

We will continue to fumble that first match, right? The Bustin Bowl - and we got busted...

Long balls against physical play, hey weren't we supposed to be that physical team? It was a catastrophe, nothing worked out. At least our HYP was fun. Our highest defeat ever, our first defeat with more than 1 goal difference in a serious tournament and the first time we didn't score at all in a serious match.

Once again, we were with our back against the wall after matchday 1.

“When my time came calling, I didn't die.”

HoloX icon.png /holoX/. Do or die. The stage was set with some amazing HYP... by HoloX icon.png /holoX/. It revolved around Sakamata Chloe as a ghost who met Mint. Ironically enough, it was Chloe who was their best player in this match. Our own HYP was delayed, but well-received. A great show on the stands, followed by a great show on the pitch.

The match began with a back and forth of several goals on both sides: Chocomint, Poe (a Chloe rep), Bootaro and Orca is getting washed (obviously another Chloe rep) made it 2-2 after around 20 minutes. It was Freaky Ghost Maid who finally tilted the game in our favour. She should later become the MVP, a nonmedal MVP, just like against Wah icon.png /wah/ in our 2th match of VTL 7. FGM made it 3-2 and no Chloe answered. Instead, Frogbert scored as well - 4-2 at half time.

In the second half, the team continued to run up the score. We had to equalize a striking 0-4 defeat and did so in an amazing fashion. Freaky Ghost Maid scored a Rabona goal, later struck it in when HoloX icon.png /holoX/ lost a high ball in their own half - to her, heading to Chocomint who found FGM in an open lane in return - and in injury time, she assisted Chocomint with a high ball of her own. 7-2, our highest victory to date, we suddenly have a positive GD. What an answer to our highest defeat to date a week before!

There's just one more question to answer. Is Chloe now part of Mint's harem?

“You don't need to have the stats, you don't need to have the medal.”

The last match put us in a comforble position, we just needed a tie. Rainy weather, a Rrat icon.png /rrat/ team that was better than it would have seemed before the VTL, an exciting match to close the Group.

A purple Frogbert, surely he wouldn't fuck it all up for us, right? He lost the ball early and Psycho, of course Psycho, scored to make it 0-1.

Unexpectedly, the momentum shifted towards Rrat icon.png /rrat/ in the last stage of the match. Steel Rose got them back to 4-3, we had to hope that we wouldn't be cursed by the sand - and we didn't. The Sand Curse saved some big chances in the end. For us, the journey continues into the KO Stage, but Rrat icon.png /rrat/ is out. They spooned in VTL 7, but this time around, they had a strong and competitive team.

KO Stage

What a draw! The best Group winner in the Round of 24, Who icon.png /who/, followed by the best Group winner overall, Suuji icon.png /suuji/, should we win. We were eager to prove that this draw wasn't unfortunate for us, but for them. However, in any case, it was an unfortunate draw because we once again would have send off a thread that leaves. Are we cursed? At this point, we are the curse.

Round of 24, 04 April 2025, Who icon.png /who/, 3-2 (2-1)

“Rest in peace.”

Who icon.png /who/ would leave after VTL 8, Mumei graduates and won't return. We were surprised to see that Who icon.png /who/ not only presented HYP of their own, but also a special anthem just like us.

And so, as it goes, did Who icon.png /who/ equalize. The match was almost turned on its head, we were in dire need of Freaky Ghost Maid who didn't play. Solid Mint had to step up and hit the net, but our lead was still not secure. Who icon.png /who/'s game plan was on point for the last 25 minutes. They obviously planned for us to play a more offensive 3-4-3 or 3-3-4 like we tend to do - when we changed to that, they got the upper hand. Our previous 4-4-2 seemed like a hard counter in contrast. Once again, it was great goalkeeping which saved us.

Round of 16, 05 April 2025, Suuji icon.png /suuji/, 5-2 (4-0)

“AKIBerse is always waiting here for you!”

We returned to our old home stadium in Akiba to meet a team which dominated their group! How nostalgic, we played some great matches here... and would go on to present another show of force.

It wasn't Suuji icon.png /suuji/ who were up on top, but us.

Suuji icon.png /suuji/ wasn't quite as helpless in the second half, but the match was basically over at this point.

Quarter Final, 06 April 2025, Brg icon.png /brg/, 1-2 (1-0)

“Frogbert Hate!”

We made the final day. Frogbert was red. Surely he wouldn't fuck it all up and unironically cost us the league, right?

A purple Freaky Ghost Maid was a bad sign already, but we were hopeful and excited. The team played great, similar to the matches against HoloX icon.png /holoX/, Who icon.png /who/ and Suuji icon.png /suuji/ - after all, the tactics were almost identical. However, what may have been warning signs against Who icon.png /who/ became catastrophic failures now. They wasted so many chances. In the end, Japanese Princess still scored to conclude the first half with a 1-0 lead.

The second half saw the tragedy unfold. We continued to dominate, but they equalized. We just couldn't score this day. We weren't the curse anymore, we were cursed. Close to the end, Brg icon.png /brg/ unexpectedly scored themselves.
