The second child of the 3rd Balkanization of /v/, /vst/ is home to the greatest strategic minds of a generation. Raised on the battlefields of X-Com and Command & Conquer, their skill at leading men to their deaths is unrivaled across the boards. All who dare oppose the unshakable will of /vst/ will crumble before them, as long as nobody forgets to build their pylons.

Team History
2021
Spring 2021--Early Campaigns
As a new team set to debut upon the greatest stage of all time, /vst/ launched training operations at a frenzied pace, determined to establish themselves as a major power in the World Cup. It should be noted (despite any claims, official records, or video evidence to the contrary) that /vst/ did not participate in Beta Bowl II, and even if it had, it most certainly would not have spooned out with a -5 GD. What can be determined, however, is that around this time, /vst/ gained crucial knowledge of what does not work, and like the Soviet Union after the Winter War, set out to correct these deficiencies.
After a period of wargames and skirmishing, /vst/ next took to the Spring Friendlies. Whereas other teams foolishly wasted this opportunity on meme strats and wild formations, /vst/ came to conquer, defeating mighty /m/ and establishing dominance over their little brother /vm/. All in all, /vst/ came out of the friendlies with a commanding 3-1 record, proving to all that they are a force to be reckoned with.
With their training complete, /vst/ sounded the drums of war. With >Kane at their head, and the indomitable will of the board behind them, the team marched to the World Cup, and to glory.
Summer 2021--The Greatest Game Arriving at the World Cup, /vst/ drew into Group I, alongside /toy/, /fit/ and /lit/. /vst/'s debut was ultimately inauspicious, choosing to preserve /toy/'s dignity and instead electing to join its brother boards (and /vt/) in tying their inaugural matches. After a week's bye to plan for their remaining matches, /vst/ partook in the humiliation of /fit/, routing the >2 star team and sending them home with naught but the Wooden Spoon to show for their feeble efforts. However, going into the /lit/ game, there were those who doubted /vst/, saying that tying /toy/ was a sign of weakness and defeating /fit/ proved nothing. /vst/ made fools of them all, defying the New Stadium Curse to crush /lit/ 3-1, tying the record for Highest Average Rating for the first time since 2015, pioneering the +1 meta that would stand for the remainder of the cup, and securing their rightful place as the top team of the group.
Their critics thusly silenced, and the tide of opinion rapidly turning in their favor, /vst/ moved on to the Round of 32, with /s4s/ drawing to face them. The match began well in /vst/'s favor, ceding an early goal--as was rapidly becoming tradition--before striking back with nuclear fury, Nuclear Gandhi claiming a brace and Kane one more to bring the score to 3-1 at halftime.
What happened next is unclear, but later chemical analysis would reveal that Gandhi's halftime tea had been laced with soy milk instead of cow's milk. It is believed that this caused Gandhi to suffer rapid-onset ideological shift, leading him to embrace such vile notions as "Liberalism" and "Pacifism", as he then proceeded to spend the entire second half passing the ball directly to the /s4s/ keeper at every opportunity. Even with /vst/'s offense so utterly crippled, /s4s/ struggled to make a comeback, with only a freak throughball at 90+2 sending the game into extra time and eventually penalties. Unfortunately, despite a heroic performance from the powerliches, /s4s/ eventually squeaked out a single kick ahead, claiming victory by only the most technical of margins. As /vst/ withdrew to get Gandhi an emergency transfusion of Douglas MacArthur's blood, /s4s/ would go on to overpower /soc/, /mlp/, /sp/ and /b/ to claim the World Cup.
Autumn 2021--The Long Winter
As the World Cup came to a close, an unsteady silence descended across the boards. With all sides in need of rest and refit after the titanic struggle, the usual friendlies season was canceled, with forces instead committed to preparing for the Autumn Cup. With 40 teams split into groups of 5, the odds of promotion were slim, yet /vst/'s resolve never wavered, and with fire in their hearts, the team set forth to conquer.
Unfortunately, for all their planning, /vst/ had forgotten to account for one simple act: treason. The details remain unclear, but in /vst/'s opening match against /jp/, the opposing team demonstrated a knowledge and circumvention of /vst/'s tactics that could not possibly have come from any other source than traitorous actions. With the entire season's offensive compromised by a 0-2 loss, /vst/ redoubled their efforts, striking down the infamous /pol/ in a 3-1 rout, raising the team banner over the ruins of the Reichtag, and renewing the spirit of the attack.
/vst/'s momentum carried through, humiliating /gd/ with an identical scoreline, and with the stakes at their height, /vst/ stepped into their final battle of the groups, facing off against their distant cousins /vp/. Taking the lead in the first half, /vst/'s path to the elites was open, before a minor chink in /vst/'s lines was found at 62 minutes and relentlessly exploited, ending the game 1-3 and marking /vst/'s first defeat on their home soil.
Thus robbed of their place in the Elites, /vst/ endured a harsh winter, undertaking constant training at Weekly Divegrass, and twice paying back /vp/ for their treachery. The cold and rain tempered the men, forging them into an iron rod of unshakable might, and with steely resolve, /vst/ emerged with the Spring bloom to right the wrongs of the previous season and claim their rightful place in the pinnacle of the League.
2022
Spring 2022--The Long Con
As the Spring offensive began, /vst/ found itself on a difficult front, facing down the likes of /b/, /mu/, /c/, and /gd/, an array of veterans with multiple cup titles between them. Undaunted, /vst/ charged into the fray, breaking /b/ in a staggering 4-0 victory, and establishing dominance as a front-runner of the group. This would be tarnished next week against /mu/, however, when blind luck would enable them to score two goals post-85 minutes, turning a satisfactory 1-1 draw into a stinging 1-3 loss. Things became tight as /vst/ moved into the second half of the group, coming up against /c/ in a hard-fought 1-1 draw. While not eliminated, /vst/‘s margin for error was all but gone as it prepared to face the most daunting foe of the group, the mighty /gd/. It was here, in this most desperate of moments, that the War Room made its greatest gamble; to step back and trust the men to do their job. With no direction and nothing but their own initiative to rely upon, /vst/‘s players came into their own, weathering /gd/‘s onslaught with an iron defense, before not once, but twice striking through their lines to strike /gd/ in the heart and walk away with a crucial 2-0 victory. /gd/ would go on to win the cup, marking the third consecutive time that /vst/ drew against the eventual winner, but their failure to conquer /vst/ would be the lone wound upon their pride.
Yet even resting on 7 points, /vst/ was not yet in the clear, for one more week remained, in which /vst/ would not play. Instead, this week would mark /c/‘s last gambit to take their own place in the knockouts. Still, /vst/ sat on a comfortable 93% chance of promotion, and so the a/vst/ists sat back to watch the game unfold.
When /b/ fell to /gd/, it was no great surprise. /b/ had underwhelmed this cup, but it forced a new tension upon the proceedings. With /gd/ locked in for promotion, it was now either /vst/ or /c/, with only the latter’s game against /mu/ to decide.
It was a simple task /mu/ had, to simply not lose by 3, and /vst/ would be through. Naturally, they folded like Romanians on the Volga, imploding from a 1-0 lead to a 1-4 loss, with a trollpost defense in the closing minutes sealing /vst/‘s fate as /c/ usurped their place to advance to the knockouts. /vst/ ended the tournament third place in the group and 17th overall, a crushing, bitter defeat.
Yet wars are not always won on the field of battle, and as the months turned towards Summer, circumstances would take a dramatic turn. In the last week before teams for the Summer Elite were finalized, /adv/‘s headquarters was utterly destroyed in a surprise attack. An invalid Proof of Interest, one manager suspended, the other retiring in disgrace, and a mushroom cloud hovering over the board could mean only one thing. /adv/ was disqualified from participation, and out of the rubble and radioactive ash of /adv/‘s hopes emerged the players of /vst/, bloodied but unbroken, ascending at last to fill the void and claim their destined place, an Elite team.

Autumn 2022--Return to Glory
In the wake of the Season that Did Not Happen, /vst/ came full circle into Autumn, drawing into Group D alongside /lit/, /tv/ and older brother /vrpg/. Beginning with the sibling match, it quickly came to light that /vrpg/ had finally come into its own. Once the worst team in the cup, new keeper /mon/day proved decisive in turning the tides of battle for /vrpg/, holding the line against Kane long enough for /vrpg/ to pull ahead, claiming a 2-1 victory.
Now placed on the back foot, /vst/ went to battle against /tv/, itself in an equally precarious position. Despite being destined for the Spoon, /tv/ managed to scrape together a decent performance, keeping pace with /vst/ until the 89th minute, when Karl Franz's promotion to non-medal striker paid off, scoring the 2-1 tiebreaker. This left /vst/ to face /lit/ in a win-and-in, for which it recreated the both the scoreline and goal order from its third ever game, crushing /lit/ 3-1 and advancing alongside /vrpg/ to join the other five vidya boards in Winter.
But before preparations for /v/inter could begin, there were the knockouts yet to be played. /vst/ drew against the juggernaut of /int/, a daunting foe that many proclaimed would be the death of /vst/, and though the battle was fierce, /vst/'s non-medal strikers earned their keep once again, as El Presidente scored the tiebreaker in extra time to place /vst/ in the quarterfinals. However, /vst/'s first final day appearance would unfortunately be a short one, as /cm/'s glass cannon proved to be just resilient enough to withstand the nuclear bombardment, leaving the game a 5-3 bloodbath in /cm/'s favor. /vst/ withdrew to begin planning for the Winter offensive, while /cm/ would go on to be defeated by /vr/ in the semifinals, marking the first time that /vst/ did not face against one of the tournament's finalists.
2023
Winter 2023 – The Mountaintop.
/vst/ appeared to have heeded all past lessons taught to them since their inception; patience, planning and preparation. These were all things the team knew they would need to achieve in order to topple the giants and reach the promised lands.
Patience – The cup kicked off with /vst/ entering their group stages facing off against the perennial thorn in their side /n/, the highly-rated /ck/ and the uber-defensive team of /d/. These teams would need to be conquered before the team could dream of what was to come. The first clash was against /n/ and just like in their last exchange /n/ would come out the winners with an emphatic 1-0 victory over /vst/, this was not the best place for the team to be in, but they knew they would have more chances to stake their claim in this prestigious cup. Next up in the group stages was /ck/, 2 goals early in the first half from our beloved captain KANE LIVES and fan favourite Wololo secured the team’s first victory this cup and unbeknownst to everyone else; the beginning of the end for all others. Before the team could get ahead of itself it would need to see off /d/. The War Room knew they would need to dig deep into their tactical manoeuvres to try and unlock /d/ and this was done with expert precision as /vst/ would run out winners with a 5-3 victory, When The Work Result Was Good introducing themselves to the team in a big way by bagging a brace in their new role, with goals also coming from KANE LIVES (x2) and Wololo (x1). /d/ would attempt do grab goals late in the match (72’, 87’ and 90’+6) however this was no enough to stop the march of /vst/ as they made their way into the Round of 16.
Planning – The gloves were off now and /vst/ would only be competing against the biggest hitters of the 4Chan Cup, this would require careful planning from the masters of strategy as there would no longer be a cushion of future games; lose one game and /vst/ were eliminated. In order for /vst/ to continue their march they would need to best /h/ and this proved to be easier said than done. /h/ would hold fast, opting to play 4 at the back, each defensive player being a CB meaning /h/ were attempting to shut out /vst/’s offense and this proved to be effective as the match went past the 90-minute mark, goalless. The deadlock was broken at the 101-minute mark as Faceless Fat Guy found space on the end of a through ball and put the visitor’s up, 1-0. This looked to be the nail in the coffin for /vst/ as they struggled to break through /h/’s stalwart defence, seeing the team’s hope circling the drain, our captain Kane Lives grabbed the game by the horns and found an equaliser in the 112’ minute to keep the dream alive, this would buy the team some breathing room as the game now went to penalties. There was some unease among the support regarding the penalty kick takers as Management saw fit to sub off the Silver Medal Arthas for a non-medal during the Extra Time, however their fears would be put to rest as Good luck! I'm behind 7000 Powerliches produced the save to keep the team and their dreams alive. Next on the road to the final was older brother /vrpg/ who were being touted as the “team to watch” and both teams did not fail to show that the /v/alkan boards were no slouches; by the end of the first half the score was 3-2 to /vst/ with every shot on target resulting in a goal. The second half slowed down as both team’s goalkeepers would wake up, but nothing was stopping Kane Lives from completing his hattrick and securing the victory in decisive fashion. The final score being 4-2.
Preparation – 2 more games. Just 2 more games and /vst/ would secure immortality, not only as being one of the youngest teams to earn a star, but the first of the /v/alkans to do so. Just 2 more games.
The first of these games would be against a team /vst/ had already seen off this tournament; /ck/. This match would not be as clear cut as their previous encounter though with some last gasp drama turning this game into the “Match of the Tournament”. In the 7th minute of the game /ck/ would go up by a goal thanks to a header from Fast Food Autism, putting /vst/ on the backfoot early into the exchange, however this would not define /vst/ as they fought back harder than ever, tying up the game with a goal from Wololo on the 25th minute. The play appeared to be very much one sided, the only thing keeping /ck/ in the game being the sturdy and reliable hands of /ck/’s goalkeeper Cast-Iron Skillet producing save after save after save. The onslaught would not let up however as eventually When The Work Result Was Good broke through enemy lines and slotted a goal beyond Cast-Iron Skillet at 85’. The match was rounded up, /vst/ would advance, the match was all but over, until /ck/ shifted tactics. /ck/ had found their way into the semi’s thanks to an own goal in their previous match with /biz/ and this game appeared to be going down the same route; with the last kick off the game /ck/ piled the bodies into the box and due to a missed block, You Must Construct Additional Pylons conceded an own goal, meaning both teams would need to go into extra time. The following exchanges by both teams would be ferocious and nail biting, both teams testing each other’s mettle with some impressive saves being made by both sets of keepers, however the difference between the two teams would be in the form of the “Goal of the Tournament.”; Work Result received the ball at their feet, unleashing a ferocious shot at /ck/’s keeper, however the steeled palms of Cast-Iron Skillet would parry this away, only for it to fall to Nuclear Gandhi who brought the stray ball down with his chest and released a thunderous volley at the /ck/ goal. Cast-Iron Skillet would remain stalwart and dive towards the near post, producing another incredible save but this would not stop the tenacity of the Indian menace as Nuclear Gandhi stepped up and took a third shot at goal, this time finding the back of the net by the slimmest of margins. The meal was over, /ck/ had been cooked.
Despite many people’s expectations, /vst/ had reached the finals of the 4Chan Winter Cup 2023 and were joined by another unlikely competitor in the form of /t/. Both teams had went far beyond the expectations of their peers, reaching the upper echelons of Divegrass supremacy but with every competition, there could be only 1 winner. The stage was set, /vst/ were facing down their very first star and it really was anyone’s game at this time.
/vst/ opened up the floodgates, putting immediate pressure onto /t/ with wave after wave of attacks, however /t/ would hold firm in every skirmish. It took until the 29th minute for a side to give way and it would be in favour of /t/, Golden Boot winner Never Ever Paying Adobe finding themselves on the end of a loose ball and effortlessly glided the ball through a blockade of bodies, gaining /t/ the lead in this contest. /vst/ would go into the second half a goal down, but this…as always, was part of the plan. With the fans of /t/ cheering and celebrating their destined victory, /vst/ would put their master plan into action, this would start with an early goal from When The Work Result Was Good; a back heel from Kane Lives to Tall/Wide allowed the RB to unleash a wicked cross into the path of the Silent Orchestra who fired a bullet into the back of /t/’s net, sending a warning shot to the masses that /vst/ were far from over. At the 58th minute Kane would find himself in acres of space thanks to a beautiful pass from Wololo, the Captain would not waste this gifted opportunity and ensure that the team gained the lead after an emphatic right footed shot from Kane, turning the screws on /t/. The opposition manager now seen their ship was taking on water and throw everything at /vst/ to try and stem the tide however this would be a fruitless endeavour as Wololo would all but sink /t/’s ship; Wololo won the ball in the midfield, having to be in full stretch to pass the ball to Kane, followed by some passes between Gandhi and Kane, Wololo picked himself up of the ground and pushed through /t/’s defence to find the pass from Kane Lives and solidify the victory for the In/vst/ors.
Full-time. 3-1. /vst/ were Elite Champions of the 4chan Cup.

The Friendly Sibling Rivalry As brothers both by blood and through fire, /vm/ and /vst/ share a bond few boards can comprehend. Nevertheless, /vst/ always delights in reminding its little brother that twitch reflexes are no match for a well-orchestrated plan. |

The Fire Emblem Debacle Is Fire Emblem a turn based strategy game with rpg elements based on unit usage or a rpg game that happens to have turn based strategy elements with those units? Ever since the days of /v/ such arguments discussed about. With the introduction of /vst/ and /vrpg/ these arguments have once again strung up on both boards on occasion when discussing SRPGs or in their own seperate threads about the series. As neither team had a proper representation for the game during their first encounter in Autumn 2022 the debate was in true neutral standing as /vrpg/ found itself winning with a 2-1 victory. However since then, /vst/ has wholeheartly accepted FE's roots as a turned based strategy game first by representing the series via music in joint anthems and eventually having Fire Emblem find its way on the team, with the caveat it would share its place with a variety of other SRPG who weren't XCOM. Since this, /vst/ has found itself winning 3 straight victories against /vrpg/ each with a major event taking place in team history with every victory. The first a 4-2 victory in Winter 2023 gave team captain Kane Live's first ever hattrick and helped propel /vst/ to becoming Winter 2023's champion. The second in Summer 2023 resulted in a 3-0 /vst/ victory which was /vst/'s first elite KO clean sheet victory and also helped get /vst/ to reach 5th place, the highest place a champion has ever gotten in a subsequent tournament after winning it all. Finally most recently in 2024 Winter Group Stage, /vst/ pulled a miraculous comeback against /vrpg/ as while they found themselves down 0-3 before 35 minutes the team rallied to make the final score 4-3 in favor of /vst/ , that match being only the 4th in cup history where a team that goes down 3 goals recovers to win the match 4-3 And some people say FE doesn't require strategy. |
