Team Information
History
/vg/ league 5
Founded by CuriousAnon !!NNJPLf1BkZ and Admiral !!QRmoFrkaSpZ on November 2, 2015, /utg/ would punch its ticket into VGL5, despite its recent inception as a general on /vg/. Mostly due in part to the overwhelming support for a team from the success and popularity of Undertale, which had just come out a few months prior. Before the cup even kicked off, /utg/ got off to a hot start, defeating league powerhouse /5N@F/ in the /vg/ league 5 friendlies 2-0, giving a lot of fans high hopes for the team.
The draw would find /utg/ in group B, along with /domg/ /vitagen/ and /mgg/. /domg/ having had a recently strong performance in /vg/ League 4, would show up with a questionable formation, and /utg/ would continue its strange habit of scoring with nonmedal DMFs, opening the game with a quick spaghetti goal from booby. Bad Times would rock the stadium with megalovania once himself to give them the lead 2-0 at the 67th minute, and despite a late rally by /domg/, would hold onto a 2-1 lead, giving them their first win in their first official match. The success would soon come to a grinding halt, as /mgg/ would blister them with a high powered offensive, rocking 4 goals past But It Refused and only allowing 1 in return from GOAT Mom. The match would put /utg/ into dire straights, as they would be put up against fan favorites /vitagen/ in a win or die matchup. The cute monsters of /utg/ would have to put on a hell of a matchup to find their way to the knockouts, and put on a show they did. But It Refused was ready for his second start, and would put up what may be the greatest keeper performance in VGL history, absolutely stonewalling the cute anime girl offensive, making 10 amazing saves and holding them down to only 2 goals. The offense would come together like a well oiled machine, linking up 4 well taken goals and squeezing /utg/ into 2nd place in Group B. The knockouts wouldn't be as kind to /utg/, placed against former league laughingstock /kspg/, who were just themselves finding their first knockouts. The match would open up even, /kspg/ would find an early goal, but it would be matched by Burgerpants at the half, keeping the game level. The game would remain level until the 74th minute, when the defense would collapse and let in three more goals from /kspg/, ending their cup run on a 4-1 defeat. Though they didn't taste a huge amount of success, they would retain an "elite status" for making the knockouts, and look forward to build on that success in the future
/vg/ league 6
Back in action for /vg/ League 6, /utg/ would look to maintain their elite status and improve on their last VGL success. They would be drawn in a group with the tumblrites of /lisg/, extra terrestrial exterminators /xcg/ and familiar faces /kspg/. They would get off to a hot start, defeating an /xcg/ side that had to dig its way out of the qualifiers in a decisive 3-2 victory. Interestingly enough, this would give them the opportunity to top the group after just 2 matches, the same situation they were in with VGL5. This time however, they wouldn't blow a golden chance, absolutely tearing apart the /kspg/ defense with a 6-1 massacre. The result at the time, matched the highest margin of victory seen by a VGL team, and it would not only guarantee /utg/ a spot in the knockouts, but to top their group as well after just 2 games. While the third game had little importance to /utg/ for promotion's sake, Bad Times would refuse to slow down, rocketing 3 goals past /lisg/ to put /utg/ at 9 points, and tie him in the race for Golden Boot. At 9 points and with a huge positive Goal Difference, /utg/ would go into the knockouts second in the rankings. This success however, was shortlived. Bad Times was unable to get his shots past the golden glove of /drg/, and in a rather disappointing upset /utg/ would be sent home in the RO16 again, and although they squeezed into the top 8 of the rankings and a pot 1 position in VGL7, they still have been unable to win a knockout match. Only time will tell if /utg/ can get over this block, with their chance coming soon in VGL7.
/vg/ league 7
/utg/ entered /vg/ league 7 with a bit of hesitation. With their primary manager freshly retired, pressure was put on Admiral to recreate the success that the general had come to enjoy. A peculiar formation would cause some headscratching by couch managers and viewers alike, but it would prove itself sharp quickly in Group C. A solid 3-1 domination at the new Underground Stadium over the degenerate weebs of /nepgen/ would set the pace, and a follow up game just 2 days later would leave them to once again promote after just 2 matches. Another solid 3-1 win over /lolg/ would have them again poised at the top of their group, and with advancement already confirmed, the formation would take it easy, allowing /lzg/ to sneak in a 2-1 win over them to close out their groupstage. Another strong performance in the groups confirmed /utg/ as one of the longest standing elite teams in the /vg/ league, but they had yet to put together a win in the knockouts. Disaster would strike, and it seemed the trend would continue early on in their RO16 match against /mhg/'s lightning hot offense, but a record matching performance would see Bad Times scoring 5 goals in one match. Finally through their RO16 slump, /utg/ looked promising to take the league by storm, and show up their rivals in /5n@f/. Another powerful performance from /utg/ would see them sitting pretty on a 3-1 lead over /hsg/, but for some reason the records have been struck past the 86th minute.
/vg/ league 8
/utg/ entered Season 8 under new management from Flowery !!13v461Mqm5Q while CuriousAnon !!NNJPLf1BkZ fucked off a Spider Bake Sale somewhere. With no aesthetic changes and a place in the League already secured, there was very little to fuck up. In spite of this, the new manager managed to get an incompatible version of PES 17 and only found out about it half an hour before the deadline, and had to send in a pastebin of the tactics export. Although it was a potentially league-excluding upset, /utg/ managed to secure the necessary paperwork to compete once more. Starting the league off with its first match against /aceg/, /utg/ made a strong showing in the first half with uncharacteristically aggressive tactics for a team with such a defensive build, scoring two points. The winds of fate would begin to shift in the second half as /aceg/ caught up within a matter of minutes. Ultimately, /utg/ was able to secure a third goal and become the only team in their group to win their first match. /utg/ faced off a week later against /sog/, and was quickly put on the defensive. The entire round was a cage match, with /utg/ barely managing to sneak in two goals while barely defending /sog/'s relentless onslaught, ending the game in a tie at 2-2. Everything came down to the wire on the third and final game for /utg/, facing /nepgen/ this time. Earlier, /sog/ had won its match against /aceg/ with a goal difference of 5, putting them a point and several goals ahead of /utg/. To advance, /utg/ would have to defeat /nepgen/. Unfortunately, the offense just wasn't feeling up to it, and the entire match joined football's endless list of could-have's and should-have's, ending with a tie of 0-0. Although /utg/ managed to get 5 points in its group, it wasn't enough to overcome /nepgen/ or /sog/, and /utg/ was eliminated, making /vg/ League 8 the first league since /utg/'s arrival that it failed to advance to the round of 16.
/vg/ League 9
New logo, new tactics, new league. Despite the shortcomings of last season, /utg/ is ready to start the new season with a bang. Learning from the mistakes of last season, management and assistants alike are eagerly awaiting the chance to get their heels on the field once more to face off against enemies old and new, and, if nothing else, have good football all ‘round.

Rivalries
/5N@F/ - The Drawfriend Derby |
Two of the most artistic generals on /vg/ who have both a lot in common and little in common. They both flourish because of helpful and nice drawfags creating new content all of the time, they both have friendly circlejerks, they both waifu cool monsters of either the robotic or monster (or both) type, they both like to discuss alternate universes and they both are not well-liked outside their own walls. They also both hate each other and actually care more or less about VGL divegrass for some reason, hence a rivalry is natural. So far the two teams have never faced in an official VGL match, but they've met twice in friendlies, with /utg/ beating /5N@F/ once in the VGL5 Friendlies 2-0 and /5N@F/ beating /utg/ in Rigging After Dark 3-2. |
1-0-1 |
/kspg/ - OuterTale bowl |
A matchup between the most autistic faggots on /vg/ and /utg/. While the boards themselves don't cross culturally, they are fierce competitors on the field of divegrass, holding each other's biggest wins and losses. These two teams have faced twice against each other. The first time in VGL5 as both team's first knockouts appearance, which ended in a 4-1 victory for /kspg/. /utg/ was quick to pay them back, defeating them 6-1 in the following VGL6 group stages. |
