Description
/civ4xg/ is /vg/'s home for discussion of 4x strategy games, the most popular of which are Stellaris and Endless Space 2. Endless Legend, Sid Meier's Civilization Series, and subjects related to /cbg/ and /rtsg/ are also discussed too.
After missing the knockout round in VGL 8 by the slimmest of losses, we're back with a new roster and ready to dominate anything in our way in /vg/ League 9.

Team Performance History
/vg/ League 2
/vg/ League 2 group draw was held on May 31 2014 following the second day of Summer Friendly action. /civ4xg/ were drawn into Group F, placing them with /acg/, lolg/, and /domg/.
Headed by inaugural manager Krazy, /civ4xg/'s first game was a 1-0 thriller of a loss to /acg/. Despite the loss, /civ4xg/ would return to the pitch with a strong showing against /domg/, winning 2-1, with the clean sheet being trolled away by a cheeky 90+5' Bogus the Troll marker. The final group match against /lolg/ would prove to be pivotal, as /civ4xg/ essentially needed to win to advance to the knockout round. While /lolg/ took an early lead, Gandhi nuked home a 65' equalizer. /civ4xg/ would fall behind soon again to two goals by a fucking Giraffe, Krazy would proceed to lose his shit, overreact, and go full yolo mode, and /civ4xg/ would go on to lose 5-1 and fail to make it out of the group stage.
/vg/ League 3
The /vg/ League 3 group draw was held on November 29 2014 after the Thanksgivingb Owl invitational. /civ4xg/ were drawn into Group D alongside /dfg/, /vitagen/, and bitter enemies /lolg/.
Somehow, /civ4xg/ lost to /vitagen/ in their first game, giving up /vitagen/'s first ever goal at the seventh minute; despite Adam Smith equalizing at 29', a second /vitagen/ goal would prove /civ4xg/'s downfall. The team rebounded in their next match, as silver Civ 5 Mod gave /civ4xg/ a victory over their old foes /lolg/, 1-0. Despite falling down early to /dfg/, Barbarian XCOM Squad gave /civ4xg/ a draw with an 86' equalizer; this was all /civ4xg/ needed to advance as a third place team. The knockouts placed /civ4xg/ against /wtg/, the top team of the group stages; sadly, the actual game ended in a 2-1 loss to the eventual finalists for /civ4xg/, kicking them out of the tournament.
/vg/ League 4
For the /vg/ League 4, /civ4xg/ was drawn into Group E with /ssbg/, /kspg/, and /hsg/.
After a dull first half vs /kspg/, Sid Meier slipped in 2 goals to defeat the kerbals 2-0. Things were about to take a downturn as despite Dosh Lords taking the lead in the 3rd minute, /civ4xg/ would succumb to a monstrous 6-1 loss to /ssbg/. All was not lost however as a draw in the final match would have seen /civ4xg/ through to the round of 16. A lone Kel'Thuzad goal denied this however, thus /civ4xg/ slumped to the bottom of the group with a 1-0 loss, and into dormancy.
/vg/ League 8
After a long period of being ded, /civ4xg/ came back with a refreshed identity in /vg/ League 8, having taken /rtsg/ and /cbg/ in under their wings in the period of death, and receiving tactical coding from a /cbg/ anon. Due to missing /vg/ League 7 (and 6, and 5), /civ4xg/ were placed into the qualifiers and were drawn into Group B with /pg/, /agdg/ and /egg/.
Their first game vs /agdg/ got off on the wrong foot with a 4th minute goal from Asset Posting, before HAK HAK HAK rescued a point for /civ4xg/. This was then followed by a biblical 8-1 thrashing of /pg/ (the /vg/ League's second largest blowout ever at the time). Featuring hat tricks from Somehow I'M The Bad Guy and Corvette Spam, this is the largest win for /civ4xg/ by a significant margin. Following late game shenanigans from /pg/ vs /agdg/ and a 1-0 loss to /egg/, /civ4xg/ were through to the /vg/ League 8 proper behind /pg/ despite them sitting on a comical -5 goal difference.
In the main league, /civ4xg/ were drawn into Group E with /vg/ League 6 & 7 finalists /xcg/, eventual finalists /lzg/, and perennial fan favourites /aog/. The first game vs /lzg/ did not go well, as /civ4xg/ were drawing 1-1 at the 72nd minute before NAGA RAIDAAAAA and Salty Umbrella put away two goals and Somehow I'M The Bad Guy gave a second consolation goal to lose 3-2. Against /aog/, HAK HAK HAK and Somehow I'M The Bad Guy were able to haul back a 1-0 deficit to come back and win the game 2-1. This eliminated /aog/ and thus set a single objective vs /xcg/, don't lose and you're through. Unfortunately despite a 42nd minute equaliser from Somehow I'M The Bad Guy, /civ4xg/ fell to a 2-1 loss and failed to qualify to the round of 16.
/vg/ League 9
Having seen encouraging signs in /vg/ League 8, /civ4xg/ captured and enslaved employed the /cbg/ anon as their manager. For /vg/ League 9, /civ4xg/ were in the main cup from the off and were drawn into Group G with /ksg/, /mggg/, and /wtg/. The first game got off to a strong start as Please do not Bully The Riftborn crippled the only non cripple on /ksg/ before opening the game's scoresheet. Civ could not protect the lead as Crapawa Shitjo grabbed an equaliser and drew the game 1-1. The second game vs /wtg/ went poorly as a lone Naziboo goal gave /wtg/ a 1-0 victory which confirmed them through to the knockouts and left /civ4xg/ in a precarious position of having to win vs /mggg/ and hope /ksg/ lost by a combined total of 3 goals. Despite going 2-0 up against /mggg/ courtesy of Horatio Sauce and Nuclear Gandhi, a 90+ /mggg/ goal all but dashed the hopes of /civ4xg/ and a 1-0 /ksg/ win confirmed their advancement into the knockouts at the expense of /civ4xg/.
