The 2018 4chan Summer Cup was the twenty-eighth official 4chan Cup tournament and the eighth iteration of the Summer Cup series. The tournament featured a mixture of teams that qualified from the 2018 4chan Spring Babby Cup, as well as the teams that managed to qualify for the knockout stage of the 2018 4chan Winter Cup.

/u/ hosted this tournament by virtue of their victory in the 2018 4chan Winter Cup. /vg/ escaped the Group Stage and worked their way to the finals to beat /sp/, who were prospecting for the second* official star, in a 3–1 match. /int/ took home third place, defeating /tg/ 4–2. This was also the tenth and final cup under commissioner Lear !!vH2UmJDmLxj, who stepped down shortly after the conclusion of the tournament.

Competitors

Thirty-two teams competed at this tournament, sixteen of the teams qualified by means of advancing to the knockout stage of the 2018 4chan Winter Cup, and sixteen qualified by means of advancing from the 2018 4chan Spring Babby Cup.

This cup was the Summer Cup debut of /t/, and was both the Elite Cup and Summer Cup debut of /bant/.

The group stage draw was held on July 22nd.

Teams were placed in four different pots based on seeding. Seeding was determined by:

  1. The finishing position of the top 16 teams from the 2018 4chan Winter Cup in that tournament.
  2. The finishing position of the top 16 teams from the 2018 4chan Spring Babby Cup in that tournament.

All of the highest-seeded competitors (the top eight finishers from Winter) were placed in Pot 1; the next-highest in Pot 2, and so on until all four pots contained eight teams.
