Match History

/toy/ has not done well, historically, in friendlies. Most of the loses on their 20-8-12 record come from friendly exhibition games. Is this seeming awfulness the players lack of focus, or is it an overarching plan by /toy/'s management? It seems to be paying off, as /toy/ has shown great promise in actual cup play, making it through the Spring Babby Cup, coming in 4th in the 2012 Summer Cup, and coming in 2nd in the 2013 Winter Cup.

2012 4chan Spring Babby Cup Friendlies

The /toy/ soldiers had a troubled start. When they were formed they were like the clusterfuck desk of a transformers collecting neckbeard, a disorganized mess. Managerless and directionless, /toy/'s struggled in the beginning, losing two of their first three matches to /f/ and /tg/. Prior to the 2012 4chan Spring Babby Cup, /toy/'s best result was a draw with /b/. Disgraceful. Thankfully, a lot of this information has been lost to time, goalscorers are unknown from this period.

2012 4chan Spring Babby Cup

/toy/ entered the Babby Cup as an underdog. With no manager, no skillcards and no wins to speak of, /toy/'s chances of advancing to the 2012 4chan Summer Cup were slim. However, the squad dug deep, and surprised everyone. By coming second in their Group, and beating /cgl/ in an 8 goal thriller which ended in penalties, /toy/ proved their worth and were on their way to the Summer Cup.

2012 4chan Spring Babby Cup Group A

Group B consisted of /vp/, /cgl/, /s/ and /toy/. The Vaporeons were heavy favorites, with some people expecting the Seagulls to do well and others hoping /s/ would return to the form they showed in previous cups. Little was thought of the underdog /toy/ team. However, on day one, a victory over favorites /vp/ with goals from Woody, with his now famous walk, and Optimus Prime showed the rest of the group that /toy/ was not a team you could ignore. /toy/'s second match was a more tame affair, a draw with /cgl/ which would eventually come back to haunt the Seagulls. The final day of group play saw the standings /toy/ and /cgl/ tied with 4 points and /vp/ and /s/ tied with 1 point each. /toy/ needed a win over /s/ to guarantee placement in the top 10. A goal from Woody midway through the first half and strong defense saw /toy/ through to the knockout round.

2012 4chan Spring Babby Cup Knockout Stage

In the Babby Cup there were 5 Groups with two teams moving on from each. However only 8 teams could advance to the Summer Cup, and so /toy/ faced off against group rivals /cgl/. The match seemed lost when the Seagulls went up 2-0 early, however a pair of goals from Woody tied the game shortly after halftime. Matty saved /toy/ later in the second half, scoring after the team had given up a third goal to /cgl/. In overtime Woody completed his first Hat-trick, however /cgl/ scored late, leading to a penalty shootout, from which /toy/ emerged victorious. The win guaranteed this upstart team a spot in the Summer Cup. Still managerless, the /toy/ squad partied a little too hard, and sadly lost their next match against /d/ in embarassing fashion, giving up 4 goals to none.

2012 4chan Summer Cup Friendlies

After their mixed results in the Babby Cup, /toy/'s owners decided to hire a manager for their team. Enter Tinker/toy/. His management started during the lead up to the Summer Cup, and started with a 1-0 win over /diy/. After this first game, and the addition of skillcards, /toy/ faltered, losing to /v/. However, this loss also taught the team a valuable lesson, with Gaben only scoring two goals. /toy/'s final game prior to the Summer Cup was against long time friendly rivals /m/, who had won the Babby Cup and proved to be a very strong team. /toy/ wasn't yet ready to stand with their mecha brothers, losing 1-2, however they were showing steady improvement, and these games were essential for their Manager to get ready for the Cup.

2012 4chan Summer Cup

The Summer Cup was the greatest test to date for many of the teams which qualified and signaled a shift in power from many of the older unmanaged teams to the new guard. /toy/, after making some positional changes, stood ready to take their place among the top teams of 4chan. There were many fierce contenders vying for top honors, including perennial favorites /sp/, /a/, /co/, /k/ and /pol/ as well as new comers /m/, /3/, /n/, /sci/ and /d/ who had all proven themselves in the Babby Cup. /toy/ was not overlooked, many hoped they would win their group but they seemed to have little chance to win the entire thing.

2012 4chan Summer Cup Group F

Group F, the last of the 6 groups, consisted of /3/, runner ups of the Babby Cup, as well as /v/ and /tg/, strong contenders from previous cups, /toy/ rounded out the bottom of the group. Tinker/toy/ was out to prove his managerial style and skill, and /toy/'s first match against /3/ again showed how strong a contender /toy/ was in the Summer Cup. A 2-0 victory, completely shutting down the prolific scorers of /3/ was a great victory for /toy/. The team faced /v/ on the second day and while Woody's two goals both gave /toy/ the lead at various points in the game, the match ended in a draw. After the /3/ - /v/ match on the final day of the group stages, both /toy/ and /tg/ were through to the Round of 16 and safe from relegation, however the match still counted for pride and to see who would top the group. /tg/ came out to an early lead, going up 0-2 in the opening match, however in the second greatest comeback of the Summer Cup, /toy/'s conditioning proved to much for /tg/'s defence, with goals from Woody, Optimus Prime and Madoka sealing the victory.

2012 4chan Summer Cup Knockout Stage

Due to performance in the group stages, and after some controversy regarding the seeding of teams, /toy/ was granted a bye into the quarter finals where they faced off against /n/. Woody finally had his break out game, scoring 4 against this tough opponent. However this would prove to be /toy/'s final victory of the Summer Cup. They lost a very tight match against /sp/, 2-1, where /toy/ had many chances to tie the game in the final minutes and force overtime. Destroyed by their loss in the semi-finals, /toy/ went on to face /m/ in the third place match. Their manager had started drinking early, and they gave up 4 goals, taking 4th place when all was said and done.

2012 4chan Autumn Babby Cup Friendlies

/toy/ made many changes prior to the 2012 4chan Autumn Babby Cup. Even though they wouldn't be participating, the team had acquired many new players and wanted to get them some time on the field. /toy/'s first friendly against /o/ saw the adoption of new positions for many of their older players as well, and the results looked positive, a 3-2 win. However, trying out different formations proved to be their downfall, losing to both /mlp/ and /soc/. Still, valuable data was gathered, and the losses were taken in stride by /toy/'s fan base who knew the team was preparing for the 2013 4chan Winter Cup.

2013 4chan Winter Cup Friendlies

Each team only had one friendly available in preparation for the 2013 4chan Winter Cup. /toy/ needed a win against a big team to push themselves up high enough in the rankings to be in Pot 1, which would give them the best seeding possible for the upcoming event. Under the advice of (at the time) retired manager Tinker/toy/, therookie setup a friendly against /a/ before promptly disappearing. Luckily, the /toy/ squad pulled through and /toy/ was set for their cup run.

2013 4chan Winter Cup

Following the departure of Tinker/toy/, and seeming absentee management by therookie, the team's morale was at it's lowest point in it's history. Without strong leadership their chances of not being relegated back down to the Babby Cup seemed slim. The future looked very bleak for the squad, now seasoned veterans of the 4chan Cup series. They would have to rely on the play and leadership of their Captain, Optimus Prime, to see them through.

2013 4chan Winter Cup Group B

Match Day 1 opened with nothing but questions for the top seed in Group B. With one retired manager and an absentee replacement, could this veteran squad pull through? Things started badly, going down 0-2 to the ever chubby /soc/. However, behind the brilliant play of Woody, assisting in 3 goals, a Hat-trick from Madoka Titus and a pair of goals from their Wingers Matty and Optimus Prime, /toy/ was able to pull off the comeback and subsequently blow out the camwhores. Riding high on their victory, the team reached out to their old manager, Tinker/toy/, asking him to return. On Match Day 3 Tinker came back, and /toy/ proceeded to curb stomp the jack boots of /pol/ with a second Hat-Trick from Madoka, and a brace of goals from Woody, securing their spot in the Top 16 for the second tournament in a row. In the final Group B game, Tinker/toy/ decided to rest most of his good players, but that did not stop Woody from scoring the 3rd fastest goal in cup history. The game ended in a draw, and /toy/ easily topped the group.

2013 4chan Winter Cup Knockout Stage

/toy/ looked like one of the strongest contenders entering the knockout stage, many people said they were favorites to make it to the finals. When /toy/ faced /jp/, conditions seemed to be against them, however, /toy/ proved the better side in the end with a hat-trick from Woody and /toy/'s first goal by a 66 player, Kinder Eggs, for a 4 - 0 victory. Next /toy/ went up against the winners of the 2012 4chan Autumn Babby Cup, /wg/, and in a very tense game, winning 3 - 1 behind a pair of Madoka Titus goals. In the Semi-Finals /toy/ faced off against /cm/, another Babby Cup team. /toy/ came out to a quick 3 - 0, however /cm/ showed a lot of heart, and the final score was 4 - 2 with goals from Woody, Madoka and two more from Kinder Eggs. In the finals, /toy/ faced off against 2012 4chan Summer Cup champions /sp/, and in the greatest final in 4chan Cup history, /toy/ almost came away with the victory, losing 2 - 3 with two goals from Woody, in a very close match.

2013 4chan Spring Babby Cup Friendlies

The Spring Babby Cup friendlies saw /toy/ taking a break from Winter. Management decided to use a strange 3-3-4 formation for the two matches, with mixed success. Woody and Prime led the team to a 2 - 1 victory over highly ranked /pol/, but the team couldn't pull out a victory over the 2nd worst team in the entire 4chan Cup. A win and a draw is better than two losses, and /toy/ planned to look ahead to the next major cup with fresh ideas.

2013 4chan Summer Cup Friendlies

After the controversy of Dragongate, /toy/ found itself on top of the rankings. Tinker/toy/ decided that to celebrate the team would face two opponents they have never beaten, /m/ and /sp/. /toy/ faced perennial rivals /m/ first, and in a very close game goals from Madoka and Woody gave them their first victory over the Giant Robots /toy/ has emulated since their inception as a team. Woody missed a PENULTY at the death that would have made it 3 - 0, thankfully the goal wasn't needed for /toy/ to win. The final friendly of the Summer season was a rematch of the finals of the Winter Cup. /toy/ faced /sp/ in a rather pedestrian match. Madoka scored /toy/'s only goal early, but /sp/ was able to equalize in the final minute, ending the match in a draw.

2013 4chan Summer Cup

Prior to the start of the Summer Cup, there was some controversy when Tinker/toy/ became butt flustered over the stupid ass change to the draw and deadline dates. However, dashing the hopes of many prospective managers, he did not rage quit and instead spent the time preparing his team for the upcoming matches. As one of the most impressive teams in the 2013 4chan Winter Cup, expectations are at their highest for /toy/, and the pressure is on.

2013 4chan Summer Cup Group A

/toy/ was drawn into Group A, facing /mu/, /x/, and /c/. After the 2013 4chan Winter Cup, /toy/ was expected to outperform everybody in their group and top it with 9 points. After all, /x/ was dead and /c/ wasn't a threat. After a shocking 0-2 to /mu/, Tinker had to regroup and defeat dead /x/. Disappointingly, /toy/ tied and was in a borderline position with 1 point to get relegated to the babbies. They had to beat /c/ and /mu/ had to beat /x/ in order for /toy/ to move on. Sadly, Tinker/toy/ became very angry before the match and went to the IRC and told everybody he was going to throw the match against /c/. He put all of the medals and every player out of position hoping he would lose. Shockingly, he still tied, but this confirmed /toy/'s relegation to the 2013 4chan Autumn Babby Cup.

As a result of Tinker storming out, the new management had to attempt at regrouping /toy/. Two friendlies were played, one gainst /s/ and the other against /tg/. A new formation had to be tested to see the potential for what was in for the future.

2013 4chan Autumn Babby Cup

Seeing the pitiful performance of the Summer Cup, many /toy/ fans left, thinking all hope was lost for /toy/. This was the first time /toy/ had ever been demoted down a cup. Some were unhappy with the new management, because Tinker was a fan favourite. Others were happy because they wanted to see /toy/ try their best at the cup again. After the leave of Tinker/toy/, new management had to step in to try to bring /toy/ back into the elite cup.

2013 4chan Autumn Babby Cup Group B

/toy/ was drawn against /fa/, /e/, and /vg/. The first game was against /vg/. /toy/ had gone down 2 goals by Justin Wong and New Thread. It looked like a certain defeat. A few tactical changes lead to an almost immediate Madoka goal, which crashed the game. Five minutes later and Madoka got another goal back to tie the game. Twenty minutes went by with the game looking like it would end in a draw. In the 84th minute, Woody passed the ball to Kinder Eggs in the box, which earned /toy/ a third goal and an opening win in the group. The second game /toy/'s strongest opponent in the group, /fa/. The first half was rather boring, with little to no action. The second half started and Young Stalin got a goal to make it 0-1. Many changes were made in the game by both sides and this resulted in /toy/ giving away another goal, scored by Young Stalin, to end it 0-2. At this point, people were questioning whether Dawgamus could bring /toy/ back into winter. Their last game was against /e/, and they had to win it or tie. /toy/ opened up strong with a penalty scored by Woody. Two other goals by Woody in the second half secured him a hat-trick and /toy/ in winter. Although, when /toy/ thought they were going to get a 3-0 win, Yoko Littner scored a cheeky 90+ minute consolation goal to end it 3-1.

2013 4chan Autumn Babby Cup Knockout Stage

/toy/'s first match was /adv/. /adv/ were the clear favorites to win this match. It started as a slow game until Woody got a goal in the 72nd minute and sealed the deal in the 90th minute to push /toy/ to the quarter-finals, where they faced /gd/. Continuing with the same formation Dawgamus has used for the past several matches, he stuck with it and used it again /gd/. An early 20th minute goal from You knoe who? put /toy/ 1-0 up. Shortly after, Woody made it 2-0. /toy/ were through to the semi-finals, but not without end-game panic. Keming got a low cross and a goal in the 88th minute. Shortly after, in injury time, /gd/ almost got a second goal to tie it up, but they could not. By the semi-finals, /toy/ were up against the powerhouse that is /pol/. They had to beat them and Stormfront to go to another cup final. It started positive with a 1-0 scoreline in favor of /toy/. Hitler quickly tied it up. By halftime, it was 2-2. That wasn't even most of the goals in the game. Another 2 from Madoka completed a hat-trick and a 2nd goal of the tournament for you knoe who? gave /toy/ a 5-3 edge over /pol/. DawgamusPrime had successfully led /toy/ to another final, where they would have a rematch with their Group B counterpart, /fa/. The last time the two faced, /fa/ won 2-0. This time was different. Kinder Eggs came out strong in the 4th minute to pick up a goal for a 1-0 lead. It was already looking bright for all /toy/ soldiers in attendance. Another goal in the second half from Woody converted it to 2-0 and secured a first cup victory for /toy/. Dawgamus plans to bring this confidence to the Winter Cup to get revenge from the last time they were there.

Woody brought his team back from the brink, scoring two goals late to complete the comeback. Next, /toy/ faced the team that beat them in the Winter Finals, /sp/. The match was a shutout for both sides at the end of regular time, however goals from Matty and Madoka brought /toy/ the victory over their hated rivals. Hamhands shut the door on /3/, and a goal from Madoka put them ahead and a brace from Woody gave /toy/ a 0 - 3 victory and the Championship.
