Lia from Phase Connect is a thread (not a general) dedicated to Lia from Phase Connect.
History
On July 11, 2023, an anon lit the figurative fire that was Lia from Phase Connect.
Many people didn't think a dedicated thread for Lia would survive and would die a slow death like many individual threads before hers. However, Lia from Phase Connect exceeded all expectations and has thrived, becoming the first ever gener..I mean thread to spawn from /pcg/. By establishing a strict NO GIRLS ALLOWED policy, it has kept the femanons away and ensured the thread can be a home for Lia Likers everywhere.
However, what may be here today could be gone tomorrow because, as legend has it, Lia Likers will abandon the thread if the eternal Lia flame ever goes out, meaning if the thread ever dies before bump limit, it is never to be remade.
/vt/ League 5
With a burning passion for divegrass, Likers quickly put together a team and debuted in /vt/ League 5 together with 7 other new teams. /lia/ was drawn into Group E with /mogu/,
/manstars/ and
/nasfaqg/. Being a fresh team, expectations were low among both the audience and the Likers as they faced /nasfaqg/ in their first match. Hope was brought even lower when /lia/ started out with a loss, scoring nothing against /nasfaqg/.
The team then met with /manstars/ in the second match. With NO GIRLS ALLOWED as the goalkeeper, many people thought that /lia/ would have troubles playing against a team full of males. However, they were quickly proven wrong as Lia from Phase Connect got herself a brace in the first half while the men remained goalless. As if it wasn't bad enough, teen idol sensation put a nail in the coffin for /manstars/ with three consecutive goals at 55', 66' (double dubs!!) and 78'. The match ended with Jerry from /manstars/ bringing the game to 5pa1n with a 0ᐤ angle header at 90' and /lia/ drawing a swastika with their ball winning areas.
With morale at an all time high, the Likers were excited to face /mogu/ in the final match of the group stage, hoping that they can move onto the Round of 16 easily considering /mogu/'s terrible performance in the first two games. However, an unexpected turn of event happened. /nasfaqg/, the dominating team of the group, was completely decimated by /manstars/ with a 4-0 loss, keeping the males in contention. This left /lia/ in a "Do or Die" situation as their only option was to win against /mogu/ in order to advance. The situation became even more dire when Moguyatch and The Last Onigiryaa brought the game to 2-0 within the first 8 minutes while /lia/ struggled to approach the opponent's box. At 41', Rinmama finally managed to break /mogu/'s defensive line with a fantastic shot, putting /lia/ on the board as well as bringing the team's morale back up before the first half ended with two intense back-to-back headers by Yippee!! and Lia from Phase Connect, but they were not able to score.
Going into the second half, Lia from Phase Connect unleashed her power and quickly brought the team to 3-2 with the help of Rinmama's exceptional cross at 62'. However, the team did not manage to keep the lead, letting Moguyatch deliver the killing blow at 81'. With so little time left, the team continued to attack relentlessly, hoping to break the tie. Unfortunately, the effort was not enough as Rinmama blasting the ball wide at the last minute, bringing both /mogu/ and /lia/ to disqualification.
Despite being eliminated early, /lia/ has stolen many divegrass fans' heart with their energy and love for the game, as well as their great performance as a new team. Bringing home their Underdog of the Tournament award, the Likers look forwards to the next league with their heads held high.
/vt/ League 6
After a rather decent debut in /vt/ League 5, the Likers returned in /vt/ League 6, hoping to advance further into later stages. With big changes coming to the group's format, /lia/ was drawn into Group G with /uuu/,
/jidf/,
/choc/,
/morig/ and
/vtwbg/ but only got to play against /uuu/, /vtwbg/ and /choc/.
The first match began with /lia/ facing /uuu/, the runner-up of /vt/ League 5. Both teams managed to keep their net untouched despite having several intense skirmishes near each other's boxes. But even with their valiant effort, /lia/ failed to defend against /uuu/'s dark magic and received a sneaky stab at 90'+1 from Oops Oops, giving the Likers their first loss of the season. Due to the new format, they were immediately placed into a tough spot which did not allow them to draw or lose the next match. Meeting /vtwbg/ in the second match, the team got off to a bad start when MatPat HATE immediately passed the ball to the opposition after kick-off, costing the team a losing goal in the first 2 minutes. Despite the misfortune, /lia/ continued to push on, trading blows after blows with /vtwbg/ and ending the half at 3-3. Lady Luck did not smile upon the Likers though as they started the second half letting stealth /meat/ thread deliver the final blow, effectively ending /lia/'s /vt/ League 6 campaign.
With nothing left to lose, the team headed into the final game of the group stage against /choc/, who also was disqualified after giving away 6 points. Facing their rival, /lia/ went all out and made use of their man advantage after Lolia sent Selfposting Oga to the emergency room with 3 tackles. The match ended 4-0 with the Likers emerging victorious, scoring their first win against their rival and finishing their run on a high note.
/vt/ League 7
The new season started with /lia/ being drawn into Group E consisting of /hlgg/,
/warkop/,
/wah/,
/brg/ and
/mint/ with their opponents being /warkop/, /brg/ and /wah/. With new coaching staff employed, the Likers headed into their first match, hoping for a smooth beginning against the browns. But the game turned out to be a complete disaster. The players were confused and failed to keep a solid formation, which led to a dominating 5-1 victory for the Indonesians and continuing the opening match curse. It was thought that the players just weren't used to the new coaching method and only needed some time to warm up, but it was proven to not be the case in the next match.
Going against /brg/, a newcomer to the league, /lia/ switched up their tactics to be long ball oriented in order the counter /brg/'s resilient defense. The gameplan seemed to backfire as /lia/ failed to keep possession, letting /brg/ press the attack and take control of the entire match. The game ended in another shameful 5-1 score line with /brg/'s captain FUCK YOU HARRY scoring all 5 goals for his team, killing /lia/ and putting them into a spoon race.
After the disappointing performance, the Likers went back to the drawing board and tried to cook up a more suitable tactic against /wah/, who was also in the spoon race. The script of /vt/ League 6 repeated once again with the Likers beating /wah/, denying the Tako the spoon but still leaving them tattered in the second last place of the ranking. Ending the group stage on a 4-0 victory, the Likers hoped to bring some momentum into the next season and break the opening match curse, as well as finally bringing the cup home.
/vt/ League 8
This season reintroduced the classical 4-team group format with /lia/ getting drawn into Group K with /nijiEN/,
/numbers/ and
/awdat/. The team also went through a bit of changes in coaching, as well as their tactics and playing style. With such poor performance in the past, the team continued to be the underdog going into the first match against /nijiEN/, who placed 5th in /vt/ League 7. But despite the odds, the Likers completely decimated the titan, scoring five goals in a row before ending the game with a 5-2 score line. The victory broke the first match curse, which had plagued the team since their debut, and bolstered the team greatly, giving them power going into the second game against /numbers/.
/lia/ quickly took first blood against the numberfags before getting tied up at the half. After a few minutes of both teams having skirmishes in the midfield, teen idol sensation managed to get the lead back for the Likers and Rinmama securing the win with a beautiful backheel shot. With this result, /lia/ punched themselves a ticket to the knockouts for the first time. Spirits were at all time high as the team moved on to play against /awdat/. While not being able to get another 3 points, /lia/ was still able to get a slot at the Round of 16.
Being no stranger to the rain, the team met /GGG/ on a soaking wet pitch. The Chumbuds were proven to be a tough nut to crack with them quickly getting the lead at 4' while Lia from Phase Connect struggled to make a proper finish. But even with a solid defense, /GGG/ slipped up and allowed the Likers to tie up before the half. The team's relentless attempts at attacking finally paid off when teen idol sensation put the final nail in the coffin at 53' with the help of Double Dollars, sending the team to the final day.
The quarter final matchup against /justice/ was the end of the campaign for the Likers. Despite the team's effort, the opposition was let in 3 easy goals while /lia/ fumbled in the midfield, only managed to score once. /justice/ then moved on to become the champion, leaving the Likers packing for home.
Although /lia/ failed to make the final push, a lot of records were broken in /vt/ League 8. Having learned from both their victories and losses, the Likers strive to finally put a star on the uniform in their next /vt/ League run.
