2020 4chan Summer Cup

The 2020 4chan Spring Babby Cup was the thirty-fifth official 4chan Cup tournament and the ninth iteration of the Spring Babby Cup series. Teams that were relegated from the 2020 4chan Winter Cup, teams that qualified from the 2020 4chan Spring Babby Cup Qualifiers, teams that previously failed to promote from 2019 4chan Autumn Babby Cup Qualifiers and teams that failed to advance from the 2019 4chan Autumn Babby Cup competed at the event.

As the winner of the 2019 4chan Autumn Babby Cup, /trv/ hosted this tournament. After advancing to the knockouts on three draws, /d/ triumphed 1–0 over /wsg/ to win their first Babby final. /sp/ beat /wg/ 2–1 in the third place playoff.

Competitors

Thirty-two teams competed at this tournament; sixteen of the teams qualified by means of relegation from the 2020 4chan Winter Cup, seven qualified by failing to advance from the 2019 4chan Autumn Babby Cup, five were granted a bye due to failing to advance from the 2019 4chan Autumn Babby Cup Qualifiers, and four qualified by advancing from the 2020 4chan Spring Babby Cup Qualifiers.

Seeding Playoffs

Playoff matches were held to determine ranks 20–26 of the 2019 4chan Autumn Babby Cup. Depending on the number of the alive teams before the 2020 4chan Spring Babby Cup, these playoffs could determine which teams have to compete in the 2020 4chan Spring Babby Cup Qualifiers. As happened for the previous seeding playoff, all of the following games do not count for any official stats. These playoffs consist of:

  • 25th Place: single match between /an/ and /bant/. The result of this match can also determine the pot seeding of the 2020 4chan Spring Babby Cup Qualifiers.
  • 22nd Place: 3 teams tournament between /d/, /gd/ and /sp/. Despite the low chances of having one of these teams relegated to the 2020 4chan Spring Babby Cup Qualifiers, a small tournament was held to sort out the rankings to avoid further complications.
  • 20th Place: single match between /ck/ and /g/. The result of this match can potentially determine the last team to avoid the 2020 4chan Spring Babby Cup Qualifiers.
