You've got to shoot to score, and that's one thing that /k/ certainly aren't afraid of doing. After misfiring in the 2011 Summer Cup, /k/ returned locked and loaded for the 2012 Winter Cup. After a string of dominating results in the winter friendlies orchestrated by AK-47 and co, including three results that caused a famous crisis in the /sp/ camp, /k/ seemed armed and dangerous going into the tournament. Despite an initial scare with a penalty kick victory over /mu/, they settled into the tournament quickly and set their sights on the cup. A spectacular 4-2 victory over pre-tournament favorites /tg/ saw /k/ truely set themselves apart from the crowd, and on their path to glory. Eventually /k/ overcame a powerful /sp/ side in the final and became Winter Cup Champions.
However, ownership issues have resulted in a complete revamp of the team, and the championship winning players have been replaced with new stars that are popular with the loyal fans. Have these tactical and personnel changes turned /k/ into something unrecognizable? Will it disrupt the winning mentality that gained old /k/ so much success? How will the new players cope with the pressure of being the number 1 seed? We shall see in the upcoming 2012 4chan Summer Cup.
History
Ongoing ownership disputes have culminated in a hostile takeover by the board of trustees while current owner and team members were away at the 4chan Winter Cup 2012. The General Manager was sacked and the contracts with the players will not be renewed, the board said in a statement. They went on to say that a poor response from fans due to not feeling well represented by the team had resulted in an almost nonexistent viewer base, causing slumping ticket sales and near bankruptcy early in 2012. They expressed high hopes for the new lineup, showcasing a number of players new to the 4chan Cup, but classics to the fans of /k/. Critics have offered doubts about the new offense focused team, while members of /k/ remind critics "There is no overkill. There is only open fire and I need to reload." This debate shows no sign of slowing, and all parties will just have to wait until the Summer Cup 2012 to see if this new face of /k/ is as powerful as it has been made out to be.

Rivalries
/k/omandos vs /sp/artans
A rivalry that was first truly realized in the finals of the 2012 Winter Cup. /k/ The People's Team, a group of men from all walks of life. Prior to the finals, /k/ had defeated /sp/ in winners bracket play and three additional times in friendlies. /sp/ finally won a 3-0 shut out in the first leg of the finals but /k/ came back to knock off /sp/ 2-1. /k/'s Heroic run in the finals saw them defeat a team with some of 4chan's most elite players including George Costanza, Messi, and Da Burrs. In the process once again preventing /sp/ from winning the cup and earning their eternal hate. At the moment the all-time scoreboard reads /k/ 5 to /sp/'s 2 victories.
