From the humble beginnings of wanting to be free, Hat's performances in the 8 Years of Rigging only got better as support grew and days went on. He was /fa/'s captain throughout the tournament and was the fan favourite from the start, he was the hero that stepped up whenever /fa/ needed him, most notably when /fa/ were seconds away from being eliminated by /b/, only for Hat to equalise in the 93rd minute. However Hat kept getting better and better, his brace was able to get past /sp/'s late comeback, and Day 4 was his finest as he scored 7 goals in 2 days with a poker against /s/ and a hattrick against /g/, Hat got 5 goals on the final day on the way to the grand finals, 3 against /mu/ in a 5-3 win and 2 against /x/ in a 5-1 demolition in the Losers' final. Hat was up against his arch-rival Forcaccia in the grand final, and as Forcaccia fell into the wayside, Hat got a brace on the first game to force a rematch to decide the title, the dream was getting closer and closer, however Sukiyaki's goal meant that /fa/ were in trouble, and Hat, once more, stepped up to put things right for his team and with a brace that gave /fa/ the lead, as Forcaccia was having a terrible day and Peking Duck's shot hit the bar and got caught by Pants, the title was confirmed for /fa/ alongside the golden boot, the goal of the tournament and player of the tournament awards were also won by Hat after his chart-topping display.

However, Hat would retire on top of the world and he was not named in the /fa/ squad for the Winter Solstice, handing over the reigns to his son Cap who will be the new /fa/ captain for the Winter Sosltice in 2020, he will have big shoes to fill and a title to defend, the pressure is on for Cap to perform, but if the son can do just like his old man, Cap will be one to watch out for in the tournament.

Forcaccia's role in the "Formidable /ck/" squad of the 8 Years of Rigging cannot be underestimated, nicknamed "Forc" after AviationRigger's inability to pronounce his name, he is their best player with 7 goals in 5 appearances, he prefers quality over quantity, even getting 2 goals entered in the Goal of the Tournament category of the 8YOR awards vote, he was tipped as one of the early contenders for the golden boot and his rivalry with Hat quickly grew as a result, whenever /ck/ had a goalfest he was there to make the headlines, however his performances ranged from the sublime such as a longshot and a pirouette goal against against /adv/ to the ridiculous as he was nowhere to be seen in the first match against /fa/ and choked in the second game, Forcaccia is a top tier player, only held back by his lack of luck and Hat's sheer skill.

Now that Hat has retired and /ck/ still looks strong, will the Winter Solstice give Forcaccia a chance at redemption?
