2011 4chan Summer Cup

The Redux Series is a series that focuses on the rerunning of former 4chan Cup tournaments before Dragongate by using the same PES versions, same formats, same everything. The Redux Series tournaments evolve around the happenings in the tournaments in a butterfly effect as tournaments go by. /tv/ are the current champions after beating /x/ in the Winter Solstice final. The winners of a redux tournament win a fake star that they get to carry tournament by tournament.

The Redux Series was started with the 8 Years of Rigging tournament, eventually AviationRigger confirmed the Redux Series after the conclusion of the 8 Years of Rigging with the announcement of the Winter Solstice tournament, with the name being decided on the 22nd of August. After AviationRigger's computer died alongside his hard drive, the Redux Series was cut short to conclude after the Winter Solstice tournament.

8 Years of Rigging

Day 1
After a 1 day delay thanks to >virgin media, the 8 Years of Rigging tournament started with /b/ taking on /x/, Day 1 was very choppy as a result of OBS Studio's settings not being optimised to PES 2011, /x/ was able to narrowly beat /b/, next match was a thriller between /sp/ and /fa/ as Fernandon't opened the scoring later, only for Cufflink to equalise in the 91st minute after DA BEARS spilled a shot into the back of the net, a foreshadowing of PES 2011 goalkeeping standards, to take the match into Extra Time. In extra time, Hat would score the first of many goals with a volley in the 106th minute but even still, /sp/ found a way and won the match 3-2 thanks to goals from Based God and George Costanza. /int/ would show that a 2-0 lead really is the most dangerous lead as they were able to put 2 past /g/ in 8 minutes, only for /g/ to turn the scores around and win 5-2. In /v/ vs /s/, Mount & Blade was able to score in 1 minute and 31 seconds but eventually /s/ was able to surprisingly beat /v/ as they fell apart immediately after, the Summer 11 champions were battered 3-0 by /mu/ as Lady Gaga got a brace alongside one of the goals of the tournament, /k/ vs /fit/ was a sleepy affair until Oatz scored an own goal from a deflected header, booking /k/'s advance to the next round. /ck/ whooped /soc/ 3-0 as Forcaccia stamped his authority with a brace, being an early favourite for the golden boot, and in the final match of the day, /tv/'s own goal knocked them off balance and allowed /adv/ to win 3-0.

Day 2
In day 2, the viewers were in for a treat, a smoother stream and the eventual match of the tournament as /b/ tried to redeem their loss to /x/ with an 8 goal thriller, Sunglasses was able to score in the 85th minute to make the score 2-2 late on, however Chocolate Rain was able to score mere seconds after with a kickoff abuse blooter, only for Hat to heroically equalise in the 93rd minute when /fa/ looked down and out, after Sunglasses and Nyancat scoring in extra time, the match was brought to the first and only penalty shootout of the tournament, goalkeepers didn't move for the first 3 penalties and didn't get a save until 60's Spiderman's shot was saved by Pants, only for Handbag to miss a chance to win the game, B^U missed his penalty and Sock scored, giving /b/ a loss as /fa/ went on. Goalkeeping incompetence was in full display as /v/ beat /int/ 4-2, >englel was utterly humiliated time and time in the match, even getting a 94th minute goal hit him in the face and go in, being one of the worst goalkeeping displays that the tournament had to offer. /a/ were fighting hard for their lives against /fit/, even taking the lead right before half time, however the /fit/ness was not on their side as /fit/ was able to outlast their opponents in extra time, sending the wee/a/boos out, in the final match of the day, /tv/ got the Wooden Spoon after losing 3-2 to /soc/ after letting a lead slip and went on to beat /trash/ 10-0.

Day 3
Day 3 started of with a spooky match between /x/ and /sp/, filled with own goals as Herobrine and Tony Kornheiser made the score 1-1 but for the opposite sides, /x/ went on to stun /sp/ in the eventual upset of the tournament as Clown Statue got a brace to kill /sp/, Aria Giovanni's own goal was enough to eliminate /s/ against /g/ and /mu/ and /k/ had a late goal frenzy as PES gave 4 goals in 4 minutes, with Mossberg 12Gaug scoring the latest goal of the tournament but it wasn't enough to save /k/ from going into the losers' bracket, and to close off the winners' quarterfinals, Forcaccia was back at it again, scoring a brace to send /adv/ to the losers bracket. In the 2nd losers round, /fa/ were able to avenge their earlier loss to /sp/, taking an early 3-0 lead with Hat bagging a brace and even having to hold off a /sp/ comeback, Messi did find the equaliser but it was offside, sealing /sp/'s elimination. /v/ were stunned 2-0 by /s/ as their best defence was attack, not even allowing /v/ to have a shot on goal, /fit/ had to beat a team in extra time once again as Rugger 9mm forced extra time, with Zuzanna scoring in the 108th minute to send /fit/ through and to close out the day, /adv/ and /soc/ had a 6 goal thriller, Jock opened the scoring early for /adv/ but /soc/ were able to get 4 goals for 4 players with Tattoo's 88th minute goal killing off any chance of an /adv/ equaliser and sending them home.

Day 4
/x/ and /g/ put on a thrilling game, after /g/ took a 2 goal lead, Clown Statue's late 85th minute winner capped off a hattrick, putting the unlikely underdogs in the winners' final and reminding /g/ of their turnaround against /int/, the following match was a humiliation of seismic proportions as one of the best goalkeepers in the tournament, Daft Punk, had an absolutely shambolic performance, only pulling off two saves. It all started early when Beirut got a yellow card in only 1 minute and 25 seconds, then the goals started in the 2nd minute with Jeff Mangum's own goal, heading it past Daft Punk and the floodgates opened, Forcaccia got /ck/'s second as Sukiyaki and Tikka Masala chimed in, Forcaccia concluded his brace in the very end of the first half, making the score 5-1 to /ck/ in one half, Lady Gaga got a consolation goal and Sukiyaki chipped Daft Punk from outside of the box to produce the screenshot that epitomised Daft Punk's performance and Nachos went on to make it 7, Velvet Underground scored the only penalty of the tournament but it did nothing to disguise the humiliation. /ck/ went on to trample all over /x/'s pipe dream as they won the Winners' final 3-1 thanks to goals by Tikka Masala, Sukiyaki and Nachos, sealing their spot in the Grand Final. Then Hatday happened, Hat got a near-perfect performance against /s/, notching 4 goals (alongside his first hattrick of the tournament) and an assist to put /fa/ through. /soc/ and /fit/ had turns in leading, with Husky opening the scoring, Bear Mode equalising, Husky giving /soc/ the lead once more only for /fit/ to turn it around as Otter Mode won the game for /fit/. The Hat train kept going as he got a hattrick against /g/, opening the scoring in 4 minutes, as he went on to notch his 7th goal of the day, Firefox threatened /fa/'s storm but Trenchcoat and Hat were able to keep /fa/ going into the final day. /mu/ were able to recover from their demolition with a 4-1 win over /fit/, seeing Oatz get his second own goal of the tournament, an unprecedented but terrible achievement, Dragonforce and Velvet Underground's late goals killed the game.

Day 5
4 teams were left in the final day, the "Final Boss" as dubbed by viewers that was /ck/, the /x/ underdogs, the bandwagoner choice /fa/ and the recovering /mu/. However it all seemed to be over for /mu/ when Hat scored a brace in 3 minutes and Sunglasses scored before the half, Hat concluded his third hattrick of the tournament, giving /fa/ a 4 goal lead in 49 minutes, however Radiohead, Lady Gaga and Velvet Underground got 3 goals back and only needed 1 more goal to perform the mother of all comebacks, however time ran out as Sunglasses killed it in the 91st minute to send /fa/ to the losers final. /x/ were no match for the Hat-powered /fa/ as he scored the eventual best goal of the tournament and a brace alongside Trenchcoat's hattrick to set up a mouth-watering /fa/ck/ final. However in the first match, the "formidable" /ck/ were nowhere to be seen as Sunglasses and Hat were able to blast through them, one of Hat's goals being as a complete result of /ck/'s collective defensive demise as he was through unchallenged and was able to slot the ball effortlessly past Lermestos as the /ck/ players fell to the floor in disbelief, Nachos did get a consolation goal but the rematch was sealed. /ck/ seemed to have recovered from their stunning loss to /fa/ as Sukiyaki scored the opening goal to make the Hatbros nervous, but if there's a man for a great occasion, when his team needs help the most, it's Hat as he stepped up to equalise and went on to get a brace to give /fa/ the lead. But even still, /ck/ were dominating statistically, it was Hat's arch-rival, Forcaccia having a bad day as he was able to get 7 shots, only 2 of them being on target, Cufflink was able to score a dramatic late goal that sent the chat delirious as /fa/ was getting closer and closer to lifting the trophy against all odds, Forcaccia put the pressure back on /fa/ with his second shot on target as there was still enough time to equalise, then came the moment that shook the rigging world when Peking Duck had the golden chance to put /ck/ level with only a minute to go, he was able to shoot it over the goalkeeper but into the bar and Pants was able to catch it, it was dubbed "The Ka-pow that Shook the World" and "The Big Ka-pow" as Hat's shot was saved in the 92nd minute, the corner was cleared and against all the odds, they did it in stunning /fa/shion.
